Insecurity is being so protective that you won't allow your significant other to be around anyone they may be attracted to. It's not insecurity, or at least not an unhealthy amount, to leave or resent someone you loved for cheating on you. Personally, heartbreak is the worst emotion someone can experience.
*RANT* I feel so bad for Corpse. The average person does not understand how hard it is to be disabled. People are so mean and violent towards us if/when we don’t pretend to be/present as perfect in every way, it’s insane. On top of that the US medical system is still extremely racist and many doctors are taught to assume that people with chronic conditions are just drug addicts lying for pain meds until the patient can prove to them otherwise (which sometimes costs thousands of dollars and hours of medical tests). So many people have no compassion for the disabled community to the point where they believe that we shouldn’t be allowed to exist at all. It’s disgusting. He probably didn’t have any choice but to try and make money online because his conditions would have prevented him from seeking out or being hired for work outside his home. It’s so awful that a bunch of psychos decided to dedicate themselves to trying to take away his opportunity to be financially independent just because they didn’t find him attractive enough to fetishize anymore. Treating people like they only deserve dignity if they’re attractive enough to be sexy and if they’re not then it’s okay to harass them (both on and offline); Is one of my least favorite mob mentalities that people can fall into. 🙃
It's what happens when a mass group of people come up with an idea of what someone looks like based off of a voice. And they'll usually have unrealistic expectations, and then harass them if they're not "good looking" enough. Definitely cancerous
Aw man... I feel Corpse Husband on the Fibromyalgia bit. I've had symptoms since I was a kid and no one believed me. It took like 33 years to get diagnosed.
I read it about it after hearing about Corpse Husband, went thank goodness I don't have that, and now I do, I have had symptoms for years and didn't realise they were symptoms and then the chronic pain came. So I am disabled, could be forever, and yet people expect me to work and have a job when I am trying my best to just exist.
I think it's actually something worth noting that Idubbbz came out and talked about his past and how awful he was on his own accord, he wasn't being called out, nor in the spotlight, yet he still apologized. That shows a more genuine apology from that point alone. Also he for sure made a lot of mistakes in the past and heck created a lot of terrible internet culture that we still see today, seeing the backlash for him apologizing, not because the apology was bad or insincere but rather because he took back his awful actions is insane to me. Like the fact that people are like "you shouldn't have apologized at all" when he was out here saying slurs is beyond crazy.
I started following Corpse back in the creepy pasta reading days(on my old account). Back when he had maybe 10k subs. And I actually had him as a friend briefly on Skype. Sometimes I wonder if he remembers me, I told him he should probably get rid of his Skype when he started blowing up back then and don't talk to fans anymore, including myself, if he wanted to really keep his identity hidden
I remember that right before finals in High School and they had large groups of people in the gym to take the tests the principal came in and told everyone that before the test started they wanted us to do a Harlem shake video, very few actually stood up to do it
I've been to multiple eye doctors due to severe blurred vision, double vision, eye pain, and my vision going out of focus...and every time they just tell me that my vision is perfect and 20/20. At my most recent appointment, they at least prescribed glasses...alongside the perfect 20/20 diagnosis...
I was a big fan of Spoony back in the day. I thought he was hilarious, and he was definitely my favorite creator on Channel Awesome. It's such a shame it all went downhill, and I don't know how to feel about it. I feel bad for the guy because he does seem to have some serious mental issues that negatively impacted his quality of life, but at the same time, that didn't give him an excuse to say the horrible things he did. It's all just so tragic. Still, I do really hope he's living a better life now.
Man i miss Corpse :( its a bummer that he isnt as active now, but if thats what he wants then thats what we have to accept. The fandom is kinda wild tho, as unactive as he is, they always know when hes appearing on someones stream lol. Kudos to whoever blurred the pictures, for Copse's privacy, and whoever that kid possibly was.
🎉 keep it up Pat! My UA-cam tastes have changed to include react videos like this that include great discussion and I’m so happy to have one of my fave PokeTubers also on this list.
2:39 Good. Because "Harlem Shake" is a dance that existed LONG before the meme and the meme is NOT that dance. 10:50 Yeah, I've definitely heard of Joji and seen that third album cover before. Never knew about his history on UA-cam.
On Joji and as somebody that interacts with and is part of kpop twitter, my god they're the most unserious bunch of people I've ever seen. There's no making them happy, everything is black and white with no nuance, and the idea of growth and betterment only applies to whoever they happen to care about. Anybody else that doesn't fall into their particular category doesn't get treated the same. They're all big-talk in a tweet but any form of factual evidence is met with "well you're fave is a flop." Not worth wasting your time and energy on them imo.
9:16 once again you underestimate the capability of humans to complain about everything. i wasn't on youtube when this guy was in his prime, but one thing i know for sure is that there always will be a good amount of people who will get offended by it like their mother just kick them out, out of nowhere.
1:04:29 The actions of Idubbz leading up to that point in time demonstrated a clear pandering, and shift in audience, and he wanted to garner the toxic crazy lefty breadtuber audience instead of his already existing audience. It'd have been the easiest thing in the world for him to have a smooth transition, and move away from the "toxic" content he'd made, and gradually shift over so the shift wouldn't be as noticeable, but he made a stark point to explicitly denounce anyone who would call themselves a fan of the old Idubbz, and found that content funny. The problem was never if he "grew" or not, the problem was that it was obvious he didn't grow, and was instead changed. I view Idubbz's and Anisa's relationship very similarly to how I view Jada and Will Smith's. Supremely toxic. I was never a fan of Idubbz in the first place, so I don't harbor much resentment or even disappointment towards him, I just feel sad that he fell into a similar camp to H3H3 and Hasan. They're 2 of the most notoriously hypocritical and stupid people on the entire platform, and that's saying something.
I couldn't stand the persona of Filthy Frank but I also didn't know about his music side or that he had a neurological condition, i hope hes doing alright. Corpse's voice is sexy af though, especially in some of his songs (E-girls are ruining my life), damn i hope he doing alright as well, nasty people trying to find out what he looks like and his locations.
iDubbz absolutely should have apologized. It’s so strange to me that people’s reaction to his apology wasn’t applauding him for publicly acknowledging his offensive content and genuinely apologizing for it. But instead claiming that he didn’t need to and that nobody was really upset at him about it (which is super not true, people both inside and outside the youtube space were absolutely criticizing iDubbz and taking issue with his content). It’s a double standard - even if you agree with UA-camr X that UA-camr Y is bad and needs to be criticized, it doesn’t make it acceptable for UA-camr X to use really offensive content and language to criticize UA-camr Y. You can still call out X while not defending Y.
31:06 i feel attacked, i am under 15, but i dont spam at all, i post mostly normal comments, and youtube kids already exists, nobody can comment or like there, so then it is an totally useluss thing
It depends on what you did 10 years ago. Of a # on twitter, or a stupid video, I don't care... If 10 years ago, someone has S.A. a minor, even if he doesn't do it 10 years later, remains disgusting in person. So reminding someone is not making a drama, especially if that person makes videos aimed at minors.
1:10:52 If someone was gonna be affected to the point of becoming a genuinely worse person by watching that, then there's a whole host of other issues, that mean that something was gonna derail them at that was gonna happen anyway. If the absolutely worst thing that happens, is that some 13 year old shits yell slurs for a week or two until they're disciplined, I'd say he did the world a favor. This is a take I really despise from most online content creators. While it wouldn't be true that you bear no responsibility to your audience, it is distinctly not a creator's responsibility to police their audience's behavior. If he's telling you to go do something, you can criticise that as a call to action, which is not protected speech, but if someone's gonna be stupid enough to emulate behavior they see from an internet personality, then their parents need to step in, and actually raise their fucking kid, because they're clearly being neglected. It's not a creator's responsibility to raise someone's kids for them, and if what he's doing isn't appropriate for children, well then it's youtube's and the parents' responsibility to do their job correctly, and actually supervise their kids. What you're really saying when you say that Idubbz has influenced some people to commit racist acts, is that he's responsible for what every single person in his audience does directly, and that his audience can't think for themselves, or has any autonomy and don't possess the ability to think for themselves, or bear responsibility themselves. That's one of the most unhealthy outlooks on the role of a content creator that I see to this day. Content creators are only responsible for their audiences, to the extent that the law affects them. If you're advertising gambling, you can be said to be committing an immoral act, but people commit immoral acts constantly, just by the sheer fact that we wear cheap clothes, and use electronics, so unless it's egregious, it can't be used as a moral highground, because no one possess the moral highground to grandstand on a claim of moral superiority. If you want to say that he promoted some bad things, by engaging in edgy behavior, then I've got a list that's almost unending of similar people, and no one cries about them, so it's hypocritical to single him out specifically for that type of behavior, unless you're simultaneously willing to criticise everyone else equally for that. Charlie's take on this topic, was the most lukewarm one ever, and everyone else's was way more critical, so I simply don't understand why he received such a huge backlash on it, other than the fact that Idubbz's new rabid fanbase had caught a whiff that Charlie wasn't calling Idubbz the devil for edgy behavior. Idubbz overcorrected way too hard, to the point where it's essentially impossible to be anything but a grift, since the social climate has swung so hard since the edgy times. People need tougher skin, not softer walls.
