I can’t imagine how much less fun this intro cutscene is for speedrunners. I’ve watched a few of your runs, and I still love it, but for some runners it must be hell.

It's the pain of unskippable cutscenes every runner goes thorugh.
I wonder if there can be a patch that adds the option
TP is goated for having almost every cutscene being skippable except for like one in the middle of the run that's perfect for a quick bathroom break
@@bsmith9149 Honestly i don't think Nintendo's Zelda team cares about speed runs at all. They make fun illegal and ruin our speed tech.

Here I am in 1.12 land with limited and awkward item duping and Gym's out here playing 5d chess (with time travel) on 1.0 beating Ganon in less time than it took me to complete the first shrine. Love the runs. Any plan to do a longer category at some point?

How do you do do much damage on the ganon fight?
It's a glitch called zuggling that you can see him perform between clipping out of the Colgera fight and entering Ganondorf. Gymnast is causing Link to hold several copies of the spear in his hand at once, meaning each strike is actually hitting Ganondorf several times. This is also why, when he drops the spear at 48:45 or so in the video, several of them fall to the ground.
Limcube's channel has a tutorial on how to do it, in the context of an older route that fights the Silver Lynel that's on path you'd normally take to Ganondorf.
This is also a version difference thing; for some reason 1.1.1 zuggled weapons are less effective on Ganondorf, and in 1.1.2 this method was patched entirely like many other tricks in the run.
Considering the fact that Player5's WR run is only 8 seconds faster I'm really hoping to see you reclaim the #1 spot on the leaderboard and hold onto it for longer than a few days. I mean zero disrespect to you or anyone for that matter. I'm just stoked on how competitive the runs have been in the month since the game released. I'm also looking forward to seeing Linkus make his first attempts at WR
Huge fan of your content, as well as your attitude as a speedrunner in general. You always seem extremely relaxed for someone absolutely shredding through a Zelda game, even if it's a 10 hour-long randomizer

Good morning . can you tell me how the glitch works to pass under the surfaces or infiltrations and directly access gonondorf and also if it works in version 1.1.2??
How was he defeating ganon when he wasn't doing any damage to him?
The glitch to skip the boss rush keeps the health bar from those fights during the Gannon fight. So Gannon is taking damage but it doesn't look like it because the health bar from colgera is displayed (who is in the other room, not taking damage)
UI bug. Since Colgera is still alive when he fights Ganondorf, it looks like it sometimes overrides the Ganondorf UI with the Colgera UI, displaying the latter's name and health bar instead. If you look closely you can see a tiny (regular-enemy style) health bar over Ganondorf during the fight.
It's absolutely bonkers to me that the first 2/3rds of the Speedrun is just the tutorial

Not with this route. around 51:20 ish is doable with near perfect play

They should just allow you to skip the intro cutscene. Why even have unskippable cutscenes in games where you can skip cutscenes?
I wonder this myself. Is there maybe a technical reason behind it we don't know about? Is there some design philosophy that devs have to come up with to determine whether to make a cutscene skippable? Remember that many developers consider speedrunning an afterthought at best, unfortunately

At amry couldnt you use bomb arrows instead of ruby? Then there will be no need to go out of your way to get rubys
Rubies do more damage on impact and immolation. Bombs dont
bomb flower duping is dangerous u can blow up, plus bombs may blow up enemies in diff directions making it harder to hit en all at once, unlike fire rubies
Ruby Arrow is also a bigger AOE from what I can tell, and I think may also be more damage but not sure on that.

Why are we throwing shade at other speedrunners? Seriously, isn't the point of the speedrunning community to collaborate on figuring out the best strategy how to beat games as fast as possible. Then optimizing the performance of said strategy? Some wr holders don't even find the best routes, they're just damn good at executing them. Which can be just as impressive in my opinion.

It's so insane that in the past 6-7 hours both you and Player 5 uploaded new runs that are over a minute faster than the previous WR. I'm always impressed with your wonderful runs and I can't wait to see if the community can bring the WR time down as low as the BotW speedrun.

Crazy how the full length of the video (the run + a few mins of talking) is now shorter than the world record runs were just a few days ago, and he legit started w a +40.
Especially in such a highly contested game, it's not like it's some niche indie game this is some crazy progression happening.
sub 50 is definitely just a few days away and I reckon this game will be around sub 40 by the end of the year unless some absolutely fkn crazy tech is found.
Also if a cutscene skip is found for the beginning that would be absolutely fkn amazing
@@NextGenHoliness wdym by that? From what I know they can't save before then so everything that happens before that is mandatory, whether or not it is added to the timer doesn't really matter because it's unskippable.

Speed runners are crazy they spend hours and hours to practice a skip just to same like one frame. They have my respect for that
I love that person, i really enjoy how they can just explain the speedrun strats on the go. Also the gameplay is starting to get very impressive, ToTK is getting more and more optimized.

Edit : I just watched the full run and omg autobuild strat is so cool, that + early wing im pretty sure 4X:XX is a possibility. I do not speedrun the game tho so maybe im being too optimistic, but i believe it will happen in the next week or so. In the past week, runners have been cutting minutes almost every day. I really love this speedrun.
Only downside to the run really is just the cutscenes at the beginning of each runs ig

You would need a credit warp or a way to skip GSI/a part of GSI
May be if a new movement tech is discovered like in BOTW sub40 may be possible, but i don't really see how, cause with the curent road runners have like no items to do glitches
@@drg0n_ BotW was like this pretty early on, but now it’s in the 20 min range. Pretty easy to assume TotK will be the same. Not to mention this route isn’t even close to optimal yet

Can someone freaking explain how do people do all these considering the game is out only like last month? Is there a forum where people look into the game code to figure out all these?
I'd definitely like to see similar gameplay loops and systems (sprinting, climbing, combat, powers/items on a wheel, physics, chemistry, etc.) But I wouldn't mind it in a more confined, linear setting. More accurately, I want a more open, free world to explore, but more rigid and structured quests and dungeons, and a return to using unique Dungeon Items. Zonai Devices kind of spoiled us, but even if we just got some as items, it'd be nice.
That, or a completely different take on Zelda. IMO they should go back to what it was originally concepted as, going between wildly different time periods. Imagine Zelda with a futuristic spin.

Not sure if this is the only way, but from what I've been told, if you have a physical copy of the game, the updates are stored on your switches memory. If you reset your switches memory, and open the game, it loads only what's on the cartridge which would be 1.0.0.

I've been out of the loop of the Tears of the Kingdom speedrunning community. Have there been any talks about starting the time after gaining control of Link in the sky after the Ganondorf cutscene?
I was always in favor of a race post trial file for mario sunshine. Leta hope totk is better at convincing people of a race file

You must fight them alone, or every companion appear to help you with every boss ?
If your playing normally, if you beat all four and get the companions they stay back and fight them while telling you to go on ahead to fight gannon

Thanks to the autobuild, I think sub 52:00 is now possible.
He lost 40 seconds at the start, so yes.
Given that his current "sum of best segments" is 51:25 at the start I am assuming that it is completely possible
@@lilcow8948 The old route you had no way to do this. The sum of the best possible skips will largely depend on the ultimate route, autobuild isn't even fully optimized, so this week should cut those 20 seconds. I don't see someone beating the best possible time but getting 15 sec near is possible.
At this point I'm fairly certain sub 50 is literally inevitable.
@@m4r_art I know, I was just drawing to the fact that in the video, at the bottom left, it says that the best possible time given is sement pbs is less than 52 already so it is already definitely possible. So I just thought that sub 51 or even 50 should be the possibility.
Are there videos where speedrunners do not break the game? I see only exploits and glitches which is not fun to watch
It's impossible to speedrun games without exploits and glitches, that's literally the point of a speedrun.
