    How long does it typically take to wash a car? I’ve never really bothered but since getting a decent one I’m trying to look after it a bit better. I wheel wash, foam it and 2 bucket wash plus spray wax and glass clean. The last time I took a car to a sponge monkey it took him them 30mins, I take about 2 - 3 hours. Keep up the great videos I’m learning a lot.

    Always down to up, that way the dirt can glide off a clean surface and not get stuck at the bottom. Great video!

    • @GeorgeEI7KO
      @GeorgeEI7KO 5 років тому

      That absolutely makes no sense. Most of the dirt on a car that is really filthy it below the door swage line. The rest of the contaminants are on the wheels. The dirt on the top half of even a car that hasn't been washed in months is minimal. You can only rinse dirt one way, and that's down unless you know how to defy gravity. Surely rinsing from the bottom up and trapping dirt in the upper crevices cant be right???? The sequence I was taught was : roof/back window/windscreen/bonnet/boot/drivers side to swage line/passenger side to swage line and finish with the lower portions of the car all round last. In the 30 odd years i've been washing Cars/Vans and motorbikes by hand (long before it was trendy to do it by hand) I dont think Ive ever ran across a scenario where the dirt got 'stuck' at the bottom. Not having a go at you, just your comment makes no sense to me.

      Well what can I say, I've done bottom - top forever. Tried on a white car and it was the most effective way.
      Start on the bottom and go all the way up for the whole car, then start from top and go down to rinse all remaining dirt and product.

    • @GeorgeEI7KO
      @GeorgeEI7KO 5 років тому

      @@truckernelson1186 Im talking about rinsing, nothing else. I'm still struggling with 'that way the dirt can glide off a clean surface and not get stuck at the bottom'

    • @GeorgeEI7KO
      @GeorgeEI7KO 5 років тому +1

      @@PaulDoldenDetails I'm gobsmacked after watching that. I will keep going the way I have been for the last I don't know how many years. Blasting dirt and grit up the side of the car to save a bit of product and 'see where you've been' Can't get over that. Of course, Metcalfe is in the business of mail order product sales lol.

    Paul, just wondering, you used the Si02 spray followed by the wax, is this the normal way around you would use two products like this or can the order be reversed? Apologies if I missed any explanation of this as I found myself wondering what kind of sandwich you had on your break, luckily this was revealed late in the video!

    • @PaulDoldenDetails
