Die Eismutter - 1967 Europeans - Schuba, Seyfert, Maskova, Jutta Muller

A very short but hugely interesting documentary based around the 1967 European Figure Skating Championhips held in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia. The highlights include Trixie's figures, the reactions of Jutta Muller to her daughter Gaby's performances and rare footage of Hana Maskova skating brilliantly but needing some medical attention afterwards. You can also spot Sally Stapleford signing autographs.

I'm no skating expert, but I know they eliminated school figures b/c it was thought that they were boring and not exciting as the free skate, but I could easily see in the 21st century how they could put a camera under the ice or have some sort of hookup to the skaters' boots to project to the audience so that they could see what the skater was doing and feel more involved.

@ilovebeinagirl I absolutely agree with you on your point that figures would benefit from today's technology. Have you seen the video of Schuba doing figures at the 72 Olympics? The overhead camera angle at the start is perfect and add to that some kind of laser measurement technology. Sports junkies would eat that kind of thing up.
