- Shakira, whose father is of Lebanese descent, recently performed for the very first time in Beirut. She visited her country with her brother Tonino and sister Lucy. Shakira.com accompanied Shakira the day before the gig to visit Byblos, and then filmed the show, which Shak dedicated to her father.

I'm from South Asia and I was lucky enough to visit Lebanon for work. I can tell you it's a beautiful country with gorgeous sceneries, mountains, clear blue sea and stunning architecture. Lots of lovely restaurants and shops. Some areas are similar to Dubai and other parts are like Turkey and Cyprus. Can definitely tell Shakira is part Lebanese, not just her looks but her voice, personality and belly dance skills. The people in Lebanon are friendly, full of character and personality and extremely welcoming. It's an amazing country and sadly not many people know that.
You know what is so sad?
It's that the media only shows the bad side of Lebanon, but never the beautiful side of it, though as you can see it's a peaceful beautiful country

It happens to all poor countries, Colombia is not an exception, my Nicaragua too, so don't feel bad for that, is a way for the wealthiest country to try to look down on us!! Don't worry about that just be you and do what we in the West do, we celebrate and make fun of our realities to kill our struggles a lil bit, and celebrate our differences( remember we coexist with ppl from all background etnicieties and religion from the whole world, Jews and Muslims, Europeans and africans, Asians and Indigenous ppl mixing each others, the whole continent have been a refugee camp for the whole world) and the best part is, we try not fight each other we acknowledge we are human beings at the end of the day) ..don't worry and be happy like the song right, what time is it? Again, many Lebanese from around the world are visiting Lebanon to learn more about their grand roots.
