That calli and Coco are completely different people . I remember going on Twitter and finding this amazing Ame art by Ina. I thought she was just another fan artist, so I was surprised to find out that she too was a member of hololive. And little by little I discovered all of them and subscribed to all their channels. Back when this Unalive released, I really liked this song, and I imagined it as an OP for Myth's anime. I imagined how I would plot out a visual story to go with it, but I don't have any drawing ability, so I figured it would just stay in my mind. It makes me super happy that this song has a really cute MV to go with it now.
End Of A Life, Scuffed Up Age, and now Lose-Lose Days give me a sense that Calli chose the Reaper aesthetic because she's struggled profoundly with her creative pursuits, perhaps told that her dreams were better left as fantasies. Through her lyrics you can feel the lamentation and uncertainty in wondering if this path would ever lead somewhere or if she was running in circles. Becoming Death-sama's assistant is an apt metaphor for this dichotomy; Close enough to the end that it becomes normalized into your soulless corporate day job, yet catching fleeting glimpses of albums, music videos and sold out concerts. Still the uncertainty remained, overshadowing any feeling of success with a lingering sense of doubt. This track seems particularly personal and likely difficult to share without feeling vulnerable. The homage to her development as part of Myth and the bonds they built through the years just goes to show how something as simple as a trusted friend rooting you on can give you the motivation to keep your dreams alive. Congratulations Mori Calliope, you've worked hard to get this far and I think I can speak for all of us when we say we're proud of how far you've come! Word up to rollin' the dice in those demon days. ;]
A gentle reminder to those that aren't aware to follow up on this: Before Calli joined Hololive, she was a big up-and-comer in the underground bar rap scene... which almost entirely dried up when Covid hit. Most of the other members of that scene had lives to go back to when the bars closed up, but it had been everything to Calli and with it ending, Calli didn't have any real options except to give up on her dreams... and then she saw a recruitment for Hololive and took the shot of her life. While she was overjoyed when she got accepted, almost everyone she'd known and respected previously called her a sell-out and bailed on her at best; there were a few real ones who stuck with her, but they were the exception for sure. End of A Life was always a song that was essentially a farewell to who she'd been up until she'd joined Hololive, and a farewell to everyone who'd been her friend until then, as it was the end of her life up until that point. Hololive was something entirely different from what she'd been doing before, and she couldn't be the same person she'd been. And even after she joined Hololive, Myth didn't click right away; between the distances involved and their wildly different personalities, it took a long time before they became family. And that's setting aside her own insecurities, imposter syndrome, and other worries. She doesn't talk about it often, but Calli has mentioned that one of the reasons she works so hard is that she feels like she hasn't earned this happiness and success, so she has to keep working harder and reaching for more to prove to herself that she has. All the stress of that definitely comes out in Scuffed Up Age. But Lose-lose Days is definitely a send up of her growing love for Myth, and acknowledgment that no matter how hard things were, spending time with the other girls still gave her something to look forward to and a reason to, well, smile through the lose-lose days. She deserves everything she's earned and more, and I couldn't be happier for Calli that she's found such a wonderful family that keep lifting her higher.

Dark Hour Fake Ass Gold They are like a good insight to add to this journey... Time-line wise I think she released them after End of a Life and before Scuffed Up Age. The album explores a lot of the struggles she's had not before joining Holo, but during it. Some of them are among my favourites songs in general, hope you enjoy it

Of *all* of Hololive, Callie’s lyrics always hold the most weight, the most emotional impact, the most heart-rending thoughts. But most importantly, the most *healing* expressions of any Hololive songs. Calli’s songs can make us cry, but they also make us ok with that 🥲
I cried all throughout this video. I've always seen Lose Lose Days to be Calli's love letter to Myth and dreamed of a MV for it. I've always loved how it's so unabashedly sentimental, with Calli's heart on her sleeve. It hits harder now that Ame has stopped streaming but even if she had gone on I feel I still would be crying. Calli, I'm sure you make these guys and Dead Beats proud, so keep smiling and singing.

Back when this Unalive released, I really liked this song, and I imagined it as an OP for Myth's anime. I imagined how I would plot out a visual story to go with it, but I don't have any drawing ability, so I figured it would just stay in my mind. End Of A Life, Scuffed Up Age, and now Lose-Lose Days give me a sense that Calli chose the Reaper aesthetic because she's struggled profoundly with her creative pursuits, perhaps told that her dreams were better left as fantasies. Through her lyrics you can feel the lamentation and uncertainty in wondering if this path would ever lead somewhere or if she was running in circles. Becoming Death-sama's assistant is an apt metaphor for this dichotomy; Close enough to the end that it becomes normalized into your soulless corporate day job, yet catching fleeting glimpses of albums, music videos and sold out concerts. Still the uncertainty remained, overshadowing any feeling of success with a lingering sense of doubt. This track seems particularly personal and likely difficult to share without feeling vulnerable. The homage to her development as part of Myth and the bonds they built through the years just goes to show how something as simple as a trusted friend rooting you on can give you the motivation to keep your dreams alive. Congratulations Mori Calliope, you've worked hard to get this far and I think I can speak for all of us when we say we're proud of how far you've come! Word up to rollin' the dice in those demon days. ;]
A gentle reminder to those that aren't aware to follow up on this: Before Calli joined Hololive, she was a big up-and-comer in the underground bar rap scene... which almost entirely dried up when Covid hit. Most of the other members of that scene had lives to go back to when the bars closed up, but it had been everything to Calli and with it ending, Calli didn't have any real options except to give up on her dreams... and then she saw a recruitment for Hololive and took the shot of her life.
While she was overjoyed when she got accepted, almost everyone she'd known and respected previously called her a sell-out and bailed on her at best; there were a few real ones who stuck with her, but they were the exception for sure.
End of A Life was always a song that was essentially a farewell to who she'd been up until she'd joined Hololive, and a farewell to everyone who'd been her friend until then, as it was the end of her life up until that point. Hololive was something entirely different from what she'd been doing before, and she couldn't be the same person she'd been.
And even after she joined Hololive, Myth didn't click right away; between the distances involved and their wildly different personalities, it took a long time before they became family. And that's setting aside her own insecurities, imposter syndrome, and other worries. She doesn't talk about it often, but Calli has mentioned that one of the reasons she works so hard is that she feels like she hasn't earned this happiness and success, so she has to keep working harder and reaching for more to prove to herself that she has. All the stress of that definitely comes out in Scuffed Up Age.
But Lose-lose Days is definitely a send up of her growing love for Myth, and acknowledgment that no matter how hard things were, spending time with the other girls still gave her something to look forward to and a reason to, well, smile through the lose-lose days.
She deserves everything she's earned and more, and I couldn't be happier for Calli that she's found such a wonderful family that keep lifting her higher.
