YES, this is an amazing product. I am somewhat discouraged as I have invested $1000's of dollars in machines, dies and inks, paper and I have NO room or money for YET another machine, more inks and more dies, and yet ANOTHER specialty paper. Most senior citizens live on a limited income and investing in all of this is not our budget. If you can develop this, you could develop a product that we could use with our existing dies, inks AND PAPER! Happy crafting to those who can afford this. It does give amazing results and looks quite easy to use.
I totally agree with other crafters. Crafting supplies have become so expensive. In any brand, the full size ink pads prices make them unattainable for me to purchase. Even the ink cubes in sets are costly. I understand there are over head costs etc...But to buy another machine and the special inks, special plates, special paper...The cost would just be too much for my budget.
I love the look but agree, I can see this for the serious card maker just not sure I have the room and want to go to different paper, ink, dies. I will see as time goes on. I wonder how much more the paper might be.
@Lela Wessner The price isn't in my budget, when I have other tools I've invested in, create a similar look. I tried to find the price of the special paper, and special ink, but was unsuccessful. I'm thinking copics will not work on the paper, not sure about the ink.
Although I do like their enthusiasm, throughout the presentation I could hear the constant Cha Ching! of the register. Other companies will be following suit, so I'll wait and see what changes and/or updates will be cropping up.
I think a large % of the craft buyers are like me, retired & on a fixed income (social security). I’ve invested quite a lot in the equipment & supplies l use. A large bit of them are what l find on Amazon or other lower priced stores, that work nicely for my end result. There are things l splurge on from the name brand companies. Being your new system requires its own specialty products, l imagine they aren’t bargain priced. I’m sure those who can afford it will enjoy what they create with it! But it’s out of reach for me.
I concur 100%, and I don't mind using my rubberstamps the old-fashioned way. I've taken care of them over the years, and they work like a charm! For those who can afford it, have lots of fun!
You run it through your existing die-cutting machine. All it does is apply more pressure than you can do by hand, and evenly. I've been doing it for AGES - I first saw the tip on UA-cam! (sorry, I can't find the URL) I bet more experienced and/or pro crafters have been doing it for decades! That's the reason why they say you can use any die-cutting machine, you don't have to use the Spellbinders one. I saw on a recent Jennifer Maguire UA-cam intro and demo of Betterpress that it specifically says Big Shot too. Seems to be a firmer and perhaps more even/consistent way of applying pressure than using, say, a brayer. You can buy dedicated pressure things which seem simply to be heavy brayers (which is why I didn't buy one) or, for the ones that don't roll but rock, like the kitchen item known as a steak press (maybe try a steak press if you already own one).
exclusive plates and ink? No thanks, dont need more clutter or cost apon cost, ill just wait a couple years down the road when things have improved or this product fizzles out. eh
Very cool! But, I want those grid plates for the glimmer machine so I can line things up. PLEASE make them! It would make my foiling life so much easier!!

If I recall correctly Jennifer Maguire Ink, who demonstrates Betterpress in a recent UA-cam video, shows how you can use the Betterpress plate on the Spellbinders hot-foiler.
Looks good but there are too many machines on the market already that need “ exclusive accessories to work with” . It’s probably ok if you are someone who makes cards as a business. Sorry guys , just my opinion.
@@JulieEbersole Also, there is a company in upstate NY called Boxcar press which makes raised printing plates from your Illustrator or Photoshop files (Vector and bitmap). They can produce fairly fine detail in a rubbery/plasticy form about the same thickness of linoleum. I believe a 5x7 plate is roughly $35 but it's YOUR design.

I wish you guys would make a hot foil machine that has that spring loaded magnets and a magnetic base for the hot foil plates. They slide all over the place when you move it from the hot machine to the die machine.
It took years before I jumped aboard the Glimmer train, but I’m glad I did! I’ve always LOVED the look of letterpress, which is one reason the Glimmer lure finally snagged me. The debossed impression along with the foiling is just so satisfying. You didn’t mention it in this presentation, but I think I saw a CHA vid that said the Glimmer plates CAN’T be used with the BetterPress, but the BetterPress plates CAN be used with the Glimmer. Is that so? That’s a bit disappointing, if true. I’ve amassed a pretty decent number of Glimmer plates, so to be able to letterpress with them in the BetterPress would be exciting. I’m intrigued by the BetterPress and its myriad possibilities, but I’m going to have to see more vids that show exactly how versatile it can be before I pull the trigger. Limited studio space, along with the appearance of so many new products this year from other companies has me giving myself a stern talking to concerning how I spend my (limited) crafting funds at the moment. But don’t get me wrong, I’m mightily tempted. Keep up the persuasion campaign-LOL!

Good demo, ladies. As is my standard practice, I like to wait awhile before investing in any new craft tool to see it's versatility and what really needs to be purchased along with it, like the new BetterPress Inks (the last thing I need is a new line of inks LOL). We all have our different levels on income so this matters to many of us but I sure wish it didn't factor into my craft decisions. Enjoy to those who can afford it! Awesome. I still own an old letterpress System. Always loved letterpress. This definitely is a more modern and updated, less messy and easier approach to it. I do look forward to owning this new system. Spellbinders is the best!
Need to bring back a version of the Grand caliber die cut machine with those nice heavy non plastic plates. Have had mine for over 20 years, I do a lot of die cutting and am still using the original plates. Will not give up my hand crank grand caliber!

Wonderful system! but spend tons of money in every product and I don't know if I use it enough. I will keep Jennifer Mcguire's letterpress idea. Cutting many dies, glue together, add ink and pass through the Cutting machine.
I love mine. But I have watched many videos, and see others trying to clean the base after inking. I don’t understand this. I simply place my die on a paper towel, ink it up, then pick up the towel and slide the plate onto the base. I can then slide it to where I want it to be with my tweezers or pick tool. Easy peasy. No ink mess to clean up.
In the various video's its being mentioned that the black inkpad tends to be kind of dry. Why? In your video I also spied a reinier. Why not provide propperly filled inkpads

Same, although mine was from Quickutz Lifestyle. Their plates were a type of plastic and tended to crack. This one is metal and sure to be sturdy, but pricey for sure. I still have lots of ink bottles from QK Letterpress, they should work on this system, by brayer if not by refilling the ink pad. Ink pad is much more convenient tho.
It is on my wish list, but this is an investment. I was told that the the foil system dies will work but the letterpress dies won’t work with the foil machine. Don’t know if that is true.
Great system but who has money for different, paper and ink plus the cost of the machine! Scrapbooking industry has gone crazy. Glad some people can afford these toys. I would like to know the cost of an average home made card!!!!
Hi Roxy, due to the thickness of the Glimmer plates, they cannot be used in the BetterPress system, but the new press plates can be used on your Glimmer system. And the detail you will see is amazing!
While waiting just run your item through any die-cutting machine to gain the extra pressure and more even pressure. I'll be buying one in due course but I'm still researching re the Betterpress inks etc.
Hi Rebecca, we recommend watercolor with this. The ink is oil based so the alcohol pens can cause some feathering when you color. As for the machine compatibility, the opening on the Gemini machines is not large enough to accommodate the system I'm afraid.
Watercolor paints and pens. It is important to also consider the ink we use is a Ranger Archival base so products that are typically compatible with that ink work well.

I'm not sure this adds to my crafting when i already do hot foiling, where the image is impressed into the card and instead of ink it is coloured with hot foil. Going to pass on this letterpress system. Besides i only have a Gemini Junior...not sure it works with it and I'm not buying yet another die cutting machine. I use cotton watercolor paper and it is quite dear, so i suspect the cotton cards will be dear as well. Good luck to those of you acquire the new letterpress system, I'm sure you'll create elegant cards with them. Happy crafting.
Hi Susan, we have curated what we believe will give you the best, stationery quality results when you pair the press plates, inks and cotton cardstock. You can certainly use regular cardstock but may not get as deep of a deboss, but it will still be beautiful. Just try and play!
I see this channel's removed the coment from someone who pointed out the cost of these "specialist items". I replied that you can apply much pressure and evenly by running it through an die-cutting machine - I first saw the tip ages ago on UA-cam. You can do this while you save up for the Betterpress equipment. No need for this channel to censor/edit/remove any comment - not all customers will buy immediately or can only buy in stages.
Sooo it’s not a purchase for one product. It’s a whole new “system” of purchase. Hope this makes sense. New ink, paper and dies. Nah, not going there. And in sure all who have invested in these things already for standard card making won’t go there either.

Hi JoAnn, so long as your machine's opening is tall enough to accommodate a steel rule die and has at least a 6 inch wide opening, it should work just fine!
Sorry, just not necessary or worth the design to add more money into something that requires all the speciality things (ink paper). Love the actual system. To be able to line up the design with the grid lines, love it…also love the magnetic system. But that’s it…
You don't need specialist equipment to use the technique, which is applying more pressure and applying pressure more evenly, by running it through a die-cutting machhine. It's not a new technique, but what Betterpress offers is to make it easy peasy to line things up and saves you working out the 'sandwich' to put through a die-cutting machine, even easier if you use a Spellbinders die-cutting machine (which is why I plan to buy it). See mariaelenanorman9861's comment above that mentions Jennifer Maguire Ink's letterpress idea.

I should actually know better, as I was given my first die-cutting machine in 2021 (a Spellbinders one; I now own three - different sizes), and had gone nearly 40+ years without really needing one.
@@prva9347 You might be surprised to know, I do all my scoring with a metal ruler and an old gift card. Like I said in my original; if I'm going to make a purchase, what I buy better serve a lot of needs. Oh and yes, I own the papercutter + scoreboard. It sits on the floor, rarely used.
@@AlpacaMade For decades I was happy crafting with basically a craft knife, scissors, glue and a (metal) ruler. My working area was A3-sized and the room so small I couldn't buy much. But then I had a windfall (sad as someone died: it was an inheritance) and someone put me online... I moved from a Craft Cupboard to a Craft Cavern that's full of gadgets (many of them gifts). I've learned loads but sometimes wonder if I'd was better off before I upgraded! The 'old days' felt more hands-on, if you know what I mean.
NOPE! Too much work for something I already have that has less steps. Don’t want to need to buy special paper, ink, and “dies”. Most of us don’t have unlimited funds, which is what would be needed to add this to our tools.

The markings are are A2 and A7. The paper that comes with it is A2 (4.25" x 5.50") A7 (5" x 7") card panels are sold separate.

Same, although mine was from Quickutz Lifestyle. Their plates were a type of plastic and tended to crack. This one is metal and sure to be sturdy, but pricey for sure. I still have lots of ink bottles from QK Letterpress, they should work on this system, by brayer if not by refilling the ink pad. Ink pad is much more convenient tho.
It is on my wish list, but this is an investment. I was told that the the foil system dies will work but the letterpress dies won’t work with the foil machine. Don’t know if that is true.
Great system but who has money for different, paper and ink plus the cost of the machine! Scrapbooking industry has gone crazy. Glad some people can afford these toys. I would like to know the cost of an average home made card!!!!
Can you use your glimmer plates with this ink and press?
Hi Roxy, due to the thickness of the Glimmer plates, they cannot be used in the BetterPress system, but the new press plates can be used on your Glimmer system. And the detail you will see is amazing!
Can you use hot foil plates on the letter press? I've heard different answers.
No. But you can use the letterpress plates on the Glimmer.

While waiting just run your item through any die-cutting machine to gain the extra pressure and more even pressure. I'll be buying one in due course but I'm still researching re the Betterpress inks etc.
Is the ink compatible with watercolor and alcohol pens? Is the system compatible with the Gemini and Gemini Jr?
Hi Rebecca, we recommend watercolor with this. The ink is oil based so the alcohol pens can cause some feathering when you color. As for the machine compatibility, the opening on the Gemini machines is not large enough to accommodate the system I'm afraid.

Watercolor paints and pens. It is important to also consider the ink we use is a Ranger Archival base so products that are typically compatible with that ink work well.

I'm not sure this adds to my crafting when i already do hot foiling, where the image is impressed into the card and instead of ink it is coloured with hot foil. Going to pass on this letterpress system. Besides i only have a Gemini Junior...not sure it works with it and I'm not buying yet another die cutting machine. I use cotton watercolor paper and it is quite dear, so i suspect the cotton cards will be dear as well. Good luck to those of you acquire the new letterpress system, I'm sure you'll create elegant cards with them. Happy crafting.

Hi Susan, we have curated what we believe will give you the best, stationery quality results when you pair the press plates, inks and cotton cardstock. You can certainly use regular cardstock but may not get as deep of a deboss, but it will still be beautiful. Just try and play!
I see this channel's removed the coment from someone who pointed out the cost of these "specialist items". I replied that you can apply much pressure and evenly by running it through an die-cutting machine - I first saw the tip ages ago on UA-cam. You can do this while you save up for the Betterpress equipment. No need for this channel to censor/edit/remove any comment - not all customers will buy immediately or can only buy in stages.

Sooo it’s not a purchase for one product. It’s a whole new “system” of purchase. Hope this makes sense. New ink, paper and dies. Nah, not going there. And in sure all who have invested in these things already for standard card making won’t go there either.

Apparently die inks work well BUT just for this item, its awfully costly!!! Plus, no info given on what die cut machines work with this

Hi JoAnn, so long as your machine's opening is tall enough to accommodate a steel rule die and has at least a 6 inch wide opening, it should work just fine!

Love the actual system. To be able to line up the design with the grid lines, love it…also love the magnetic system. But that’s it…

Nice image. However, if I evaluate a major tool purchase, it better be something I can use across the board in papercrafting.
You don't need specialist equipment to use the technique, which is applying more pressure and applying pressure more evenly, by running it through a die-cutting machhine. It's not a new technique, but what Betterpress offers is to make it easy peasy to line things up and saves you working out the 'sandwich' to put through a die-cutting machine, even easier if you use a Spellbinders die-cutting machine (which is why I plan to buy it). See mariaelenanorman9861's comment above that mentions Jennifer Maguire Ink's letterpress idea.

@@AlpacaMade Sorry, I assumed you owned a die-cutting machine as it's rare to find a papercrafter these days without one. I should actually know better, as I was given my first die-cutting machine in 2021 (a Spellbinders one; I now own three - different sizes), and had gone nearly 40+ years without really needing one.
@@prva9347 You might be surprised to know, I do all my scoring with a metal ruler and an old gift card. Like I said in my original; if I'm going to make a purchase, what I buy better serve a lot of needs. Oh and yes, I own the papercutter + scoreboard. It sits on the floor, rarely used.
@@AlpacaMade For decades I was happy crafting with basically a craft knife, scissors, glue and a (metal) ruler. My working area was A3-sized and the room so small I couldn't buy much. But then I had a windfall (sad as someone died: it was an inheritance) and someone put me online... I moved from a Craft Cupboard to a Craft Cavern that's full of gadgets (many of them gifts). I've learned loads but sometimes wonder if I'd was better off before I upgraded! The 'old days' felt more hands-on, if you know what I mean.
NOPE! Too much work for something I already have that has less steps. Don’t want to need to buy special paper, ink, and “dies”. Most of us don’t have unlimited funds, which is what would be needed to add this to our tools.
