As a US Veteran, I thank you for doing such a nice job cleaning this memorial up. It always bothers me how shallow people are with respect to appreciation of veterans and their sacrifices we all made for everyone around the globe. We don't want much, just please respect our service; and when you do decide to pay homage, please consider the long term care of those memorials. Nothing serves as a more thankless slap in the face than letting weeds, trash, and muck neglectfully accumulate on your fleeting signs of recognition. Please remember, all gave some but some gave all; for you... Zk
That would be lovely. I want to re-stain the memorial benches too. They would look so much better and be more protected from the elements. I’m not in England though. 😊
I grow soldier poppies and cornflowers together, remembrance flowers of Great Britain and France I believe. And both are self replacing. And good for the pollinators. Here in New Zealand they are blooming today for Remembrance Day.
This is one of my favorite videos. You gave dignity back to the people who sacrificed and the people who made that memorial in the first place. Huge change. Nice job!
I would think its quite upsetting for families of the fallen when they see memorials fall into disrepair like this. "Lest we Forget"- it seems someone has here.
Well done for doing this, must be a rough area if the war memorial is behind a barbed wire fence. If they respected it, maybe the local community would have looked after it.
Question- Being a military family, Why doesn't King Charles and the courtiers (those with titles) of that area pay once a month to have those areas cleaned and looked after. Give back to the community kind of gift.
Well done fella total respect from me (retired ex Royal Marine Commando ). You did your Dad proud and delivered a thankyou to those that the memorial remembers , top man .

Former US Department of Veterans Affairs employee working in evidence collection and review for disability compensation. For a veteran claiming Traumatic Brain Injury I wrote a note that support for TBI could be found on one page of his service record. A bit hard when, as an indictment on modern society, they are behind security fencing and locked gates. Councils also don't like their failings being shown up, and come up with excuses to stop people doing so; health and safety is a favourite. It's not beyond them to even prosecute someone who does.

Thank you so much for giving our fallen a decent memorial.. shame on this council.. it’s a disgrace.. love to you and your family for upholding our sacred traditions ❤
Thank you from all of us who remember them.

Exactly ! Well said and thank you to all past and present 👏 👏
Beautiful cleaning job Ben and Paul, military veterans deserve the respect for their services to the country
This place cries out for and deserves several trees and lots and lots of poppy seeds (many varieties to choose from.) peace and love
As a veteran and subscriber, I want to say thank you so much for what you do! Absolutely Brilliant!
My goodness you both did a amazing job on this God bless you both 🙏❤.
Thank you to all the people that saved us to this day God bless all of them 🙏❤️
Well done for doing this, must be a rough area if the war memorial is behind a barbed wire fence. If they respected it, maybe the local community would have looked after it.
Question- Being a military family, Why doesn't King Charles and the courtiers (those with titles) of that area pay once a month to have those areas cleaned and looked after. Give back to the community kind of gift.
@@glorybe7500😅😅😅

I noticed that. Quite sad ay.
That is not barbed wire, it is only a metal mesh fence.

It's a disgrace that any war memorial should be neglected like that. Well done! We should never forget those who served in all conflicts and especially this who gave their lives.
Agreed. Completely disrespectful. If it was taken care of all along, the green parts would look so much better.
This clean up moved me to tears for some reason😢, you guy’s put your heart and soul into this cleaning. It should never have got that bad. My father in-law severed 20 years in Korea and Vietnam wars. He’s 88 now. Thank you from the bottom of my ❤️

What on earth are the council thinking total lack of respect to our armed forces 😮 well done to you both .
Tina, most council's have no interest in the history of our country, or the people who preserved it.

It’s probably a Labour council.

You want to live in a labour controlled city, in Wales, which is a labour controlled government, where they can't balance the budget, and elderly people have to wait up to 22 hours for an ambulance.
Look at the Labour councils in Britain who have literally gone bust, and we have hotels all full of economic migrants.
Whatever you call the current mob, certainly not tory, more akin to the blair government.
“Lest we never forget”… got forgotten already by many. Thank you for cleaning up this lovely memorial. 🙏🏼
there aren’t words enough to describe how seeing the neglect of this memorial makes me feel - how could any community let this happen - the disrespect it shows towards the men and women who served and especially those who served and died is unbelievable - I would volunteer to help but there is a little problem of the Atlantic between yourselves and us 🇨🇦🙏 God bless you two for giving this memorial the care and attention it deserves 🇨🇦🙏

What a sin for them to let this get so bad. I hope it never happens again. God bless you and Dad for such a nice job.
Incredibly disrespectful to let it get in that condition. If they don't care about the monument, how can they say they care about the people it serves to remember? That angers me. But you've restored the honor that was lost, and the dignity that's so deserved. Well done, Ben and Paul! It's beautiful again❤

Former US Department of Veterans Affairs employee working in evidence collection and review for disability compensation. For a veteran claiming Traumatic Brain Injury I wrote a note that support for TBI could be found on one page of his service record. The person who would be requesting the TBI exam asked me what I was looking at. I told him the vet was a sapper in Iraq. He didn’t know what a sapper was so I explained it to him. The vet was likely injured by one of his own explosions, for which he received the commendation in his service record.

I know we think our councils should do more, but we can all play in huge part in looking after monuments like these. Great job😊
But your Council takes money off you, so that they can do the maintenance that they should, in your Council Tax (used to be called “Poll Tax”)
@@philomenahearn1717 I understand that councils take money off us for maintenance, but budgets are under huge pressures and when the public get involved in taking care of their own areas I feel it encourages a sense of community and pride in where you live. I pick up litter wherever I go. I dont expect councils/government to do everything for us.
A bit hard when, as an indictment on modern society, they are behind security fencing and locked gates. Councils also don't like their failings being shown up, and come up with excuses to stop people doing so; health and safety is a favourite. It's not beyond them to even prosecute someone who does.

The Royal British Legion neglected this not the council. If this was council property it wouldn't be locked away on private property.

@markmagee2382 > Arh they (councils) strapped of cash are arh??? 'form filling'...... is that what they call skimming the pot/hand in the till now? Are you having a laugh or what?
Being the council is a licence to print money on demand they're never short of cash spending here & there most of the time all in the wrong places! Oh let not forget the gold plated pensions/bonuses for the top brass/highly inflated salaries in management/% profit from parking + road fines + all the wasted funds on 'projects' that are doomed to fail before they start ! I'm only starting here.
I know people in all ranks in a few councils it never surprises me at the figures (yearly increasing) that I get to know about & not get told about in the yearly report that we all get. It's a total con job their racking it in hand over fist but the public will not see any of it of as it goes in their own pockets often from work contracts letting their own firms input a inflated bid & win every time .......WISE UP 😆
Members of my family fought in The Great War and WW11 for king and country. Several never returned home.
