Thanks for the video.
For a production run those brushes must allow you to be totally consistent thru the batch.
I've only watched videos of tarpon fishing. But it does seem that guy's use small flies. And dark colors too.
Yeah the brushes help with consistency for sure. And yeah dark colors, rather small, seems like what is working at least for Ryan. I haven’t fished for them so I don’t really know, just from what he says.
Such a nice little fly! Do you think this would be a good one for a beginner to try? I've been wanting to try my hand at it!
Yes a beginner could tie this absolutely. If you buy some brushes. Most beginners won’t have a table to make brushes. But if you do then give that a try as well.
Happy New Year 2023 is gonna be better
All things happen according to the will of God so, I’ll be content with 2023 I’m sure. God bless ya man! Happy new year!
when you make the craft brushes how Long do you cut the fibers? also when laying them out do. you alternate butts/tips or ?
I do not alternate butts tips because they will get spun up together. You can just place the butt ends in a little longer from the wire if you want it bushier. For length it depends on how big your tying the fly. For this one it was right around 2”. I’ve got a video of a similar fly coming out in 2-3 weeks or so, it will be called the squirrel tail brush minnow and it will show how to do the brush for that. You can hopefully see the more detail there on making the brush
Brush materials are way over priced.
Exactly! Making your own is easy. Or like I said in the video if you want make a dubbing loop
