I have been searching for quite some time on how to curve text, thank you for posting this fabulous video. I've seen that little gray bar before but had no idea of what it was for. Thanks for making my crafting life easier.
thank you so much this video was so helpful, i tried to figure it out myself and was to the point of tears. please don't stop doing what you are doing! :)
thank you sooooo much...i was getting extremely frustrated, then when i figured out how to finally use the circle but i couldnt get the bottom word correct till i seen your video. thank you thank you thank you, you saved my sanity...lol
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I watched several others with still having the same question which was "how do I delete the shape without deleting everything?". Again thank you so much!
Your video helped me a lot, but did you create a box around the whole design before you grouped the whole design? I am having a hard part with that part because your design doesn't show the outline of the box you did before you grouped the design....am i correct in my question?
I am brand new to all of this and I found your tutorial to be extremely helpful but I am still struggling. I am trying to make a design for a t-shirt. The design needs to fit on an adult XL shirt. I want to have a circle just like you showed with the words WHEATON on the top and THUNDER on the bottom. I want the 2 words to come close to each other but not touch. Very much like yours but I am struggling with how to get that to work. Any help you can give me is appreciated.
I've done that before. You either need to bump up the size of the font until it fits the way you want, or make the circle smaller. Sometimes you have to keep playing around with it.
Hey there. That was a great video and have been able to do this. However, if I want to do another one and just change the colours, can i just copy and paste somehow? Ive tried to group the entire image together but when i then cut and paste everything isn't in alignment? Any help would be great. Thanks.
Oh I have had that issue too! Sometimes you have to move your mouse cursor way up past the little carrier bar handle and when your pointer changes shape, you will be able to click and grab the handle, even though you aren't right on top of it. I know it's odd but it works. LOL
I'm wondering if you would be willing to give me some advice....I am trying to make a shirt for my mom for Mother's Day with all of the grandkids names. Obviously the circle has to be large. I can't get the size and spacing correct. Do you have a recommended font to use for names?
Hi Michelle! I find that script fonts are trickier to use around a circle as the tails don't line up properly. For circles, I really like Impact font, and Bernard MT Condensed. If you want to play around with the tails of a script font, I love love love Armonioso. If you have a lot of names, you can do 2 layers of name within 2 different circles too. I hope that helps a bit. :)
Thank you for the content! I noticed that you have a “t square” every time you move your mouse cursor, which helps align fonts and designs. How do I access that feature on my silhouette studio? Is it part of the ruler margins on both top and right side? Thanks in advance!
Great question. Those are the crosshairs and you can turn them off and on by clicking CTRL+H. You should also be able to find them in the View menu, as . The Page Setup Panel also has a button where you can click the crosshairs off and on, so at least three ways to get to it. :)
Cardamama thank you much! I’m new to the software and I’ve been improvising by adding straight lines opposite color of my actual design but it’s time consuming and gets in the way of my circular paths. Thank you
I've used PSP too but it's been many years. :D This is Silhouette Studio, which is a free download. It pairs with the Silhouette Digital cutter and their other tools, but I really like it for designing and printing simple graphics, posters, cards, etc
Sometimes you have to actually hover your cursor up to an inch away from the carrier bar. It used to happen to me when I used the software on my notepad computer but it doesn't happen anymore on my larger laptop. You may just need to keep moving your cursor around until you find the sweet spot where it changes to the little arrow plus sign.
You will need to ungroup the entire design once you have it looking the way you want and then you can delete the circle. Same thing for flipping it to cut on vinyl. You need to ungroup it so that it's no longer tied in to that circle. Delete the circle then flip to a mirror it for cutting. Hope that helps!
It's easier to click on the text while its stuck on the circle, ungroup the text, now click the circle n drag n delete. Then group the text back together. And it should stay to the shape you have it in. But you need to select which font you're gonna use, because u cant change it once you move the circle. Hope that helps
I only cut cardstock but if you were cutting this from vinyl, you would want to cut with 3 different colors. You could color white vinyl with alcohol markers I suppose but most people don't do that. It probably wouldn't be as resilient.
I am guessing that you are referring specifically to vinyl. You can select the shapes you don't want to cut and mark them as "do not cut", then cut what's left in the color you want.
Sometimes you have to have your cursor quite a bit above the little carrier bar before it will grab it. It's odd but it's not always aligned with where your cursor is exactly.
Hi! Do you mean "Print and Cut"? Printing what you designed is straightforward. Just make sure the image has either a fill color, or that the outline is thicker than the 0.00 default. I usually print with a line thickness of at least 1.00. Tracing is a whole different animal there are lots of videos which show this very well. I recommend Melissa: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2017/12/beginner-silhouette-studio-v4-trace.html As for print and cut, Melissa has a video on that too: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2017/08/beginner-silhouette-print-and-cut-v4.html I hope that helps you! Great question. Sometimes the font itself doesn’t work very well for shaping along a curve. What I tend to do in that case is used to have to make the curved path, then I ungroup it and move the letters around manually. Not perfect but it doesn’t always work for all fonts.
Im a beginner and am trying to print and cut with no luck,I get the reg marks on my image and print it but when I place it in the machine it says failed ,also when I click to turn on reg marks iy springs back and i cant select on
That's definitely unusual. I've used print and cut successfully for 7 years now. The only time I've ever had problems with it is when the lighting in my room was too low so I had to shine my desk lamp into my Cameo. When I do Print and Cut, I print my image with the registration lines also printed on the page. (Make sure you are printing the correct registration lines for your model of cutter.) They should be showing on the screen when you feed your cutting mat into the machine. The image you printed also needs a cut line around it or the Cameo won't know where to cut. Load the mat. Make sure the cutting head is well lit and see if it can detect your cut lines. I don't know if that helps but I hope it does.
Thank you so much for replying,as im new to this I usually cope very well with screenshots,if you get time could you do some for me as im less hassle that way lol, thank you so much

Good information. Select all is Cntrl and what other letter of key? Thank you.
It's Cntrl + A (for all)
This is so awesome, but I can seem to use the carrier bar. My mouse is not recognizing it. Any advice on what I may be doing wrong?

Thank you! Couldn't figure it out

Thank you! So helpful.
Oh good. Glad to hear that!
Is this something you can do with the Basic edition or you need the Designer edition?
I use paintshop pro is this the program, or a different program I need to get. thank you very simple.

Any advice on getting the "carrier bar" to move? I have hovered over it and nothing happens.

You may just need to keep moving your cursor around until you find the sweet spot where it changes to the little arrow plus sign.
how do you send it to cut with out cutting single letters?
Hi, i can't seem to delete the circle and flip the design horizontally to set the design for cutting to vinyl!
@@Cardamama thanks. As soon as i sent the message i was able to ungroup it! Thank you for responding

Hi I been trying to print it together and the text no longer there
since you made it 3 different colors, do you need 3 different vinyl sheets or do you use a marker on white vinyl to color the letters in?
I only cut cardstock but if you were cutting this from vinyl, you would want to cut with 3 different colors. You could color white vinyl with alcohol markers I suppose but most people don't do that. It probably wouldn't be as resilient.
How do I cut in diffrent colors?
I am guessing that you are referring specifically to vinyl. You can select the shapes you don't want to cut and mark them as "do not cut", then cut what's left in the color you want.
My little carrier bar does not work any ideas why it wouldn't be working?
Sometimes you have to have your cursor quite a bit above the little carrier bar before it will grab it. It's odd but it's not always aligned with where your cursor is exactly.

How to one reverse print (HTV) without the letters coming out in the wrong order?
Hi! Just ungroup the text, then select {Flip Horizontally}
Great, I will try it and tell you how it went.
How do I curve text without it warping/distorting?
Great question. Sometimes the font itself doesn’t work very well for shaping along a curve. What I tend to do in that case is used to have to make the curved path, then I ungroup it and move the letters around manually. Not perfect but it doesn’t always work for all fonts.

Hi Solfrid! You will want to *ungroup* the letters first, and then you can delete the oval. :)
thank you!!!
Can you do this with basic version of silhouette?
What are cross hairs? I dont see mine... ugg
