One of the lesser-known facts about Bob Ross is that he was an Air Force sarge stationed in Alaska, and he learned his trade from one of the last masters of speed painting. He claims that on his leave time off base, he would love to spend hours painting the Alaskan wooded sceneries, hence his love of trees. His life as a sarge was stressful to him, as he had to drill the recruits into shape, and it deeply bothered him seeing the effect he had when he barked orders. He promised himself that, if he ever got out of the military life, _he would never yell nor raise his voice at anyone for the rest of his life._ And that's why he was very soft-spoken. RIP Bob Ross, one of the greatest and most missed artists of the modern era.
To be fair the teacher may appear creepy but he actually never lies to or puts Riley down at all and it seems like everything he does is to help Riley express his talent.
@just a latino I was referring to how he comes across as creepy while not actually being creepy. This is something that I have seen in real life where someone may have a way about them that makes them seem one way but they aren't actually that way.
what it is that makes him come off a lil "creepy", is his SUPER calm attitude and demeanor, no matter what the situation is, what he's saying, or whats being said to him or how its being said to him, he just stays REAAAL calm and positive, and it only comes off as "creepy" cuz were just not used to that, especially nowadays, when everyone is soooo emotional and loud and all that, know what i mean? And like Grandad said, hes A Gulf War vet and Grandad said he thinks he has a screw loose, when in fact, he's pretty damn sane AND as a Gulf War Vet, he would have seen some REEAAAALLL shit, so underneath that calm soft spoken polite demeanor, is a straight up Trained Killer 🤷♂
This episode is just so well rounded. Like you said the most gangsta character is bob fucking ross And they NEVER explicitly talk about what happened to the parents. And Riley found a way to show his talent in a way that would prove it was him, without any argument

The Bob Ross type teacher is so effective because he doesn't let anything get to him, he just maintains his calm. Riley is trying to get a reaction, that's why he acts out so much, don't rise to his bait and he sees that his tactics aren't working and he has to change his approach. This is how the teacher directs Riley's energy to a more constructive outcome.

Arguably the most memorable episode Boondocks ever produced, but they fumbled the subplot with Huey. He changes the channel and then.... poof! He snaps out of it. No lasting importance whatsoever. It was narratively pointless. The reality is that it was just another opportunity for Aaron MacGruder (Boondocks' creator) to be petty and take shots at BET and UPN after they pissed him off. One network reneged on their deal to produce the series (UPN), and the other tried secretly changing the terms of their deal to lock MacGruder into an unfair and lopsided contract that would've given them (BET) total ownership of the series in perpetuity.
