3:403:403:40 3:403:403:40 3:403:403:40 Stream start timestamp for those on mobile! Also want to say I was waiting for the stream to start and then paused right before hearing Jacob's voice so I left for an hour before coming back Was very funny to realize I was a split second too soon before the stream started
Nemo on the cross with the word "incomplete" looming ominously needs to be a shirt. I swear if you don't make it I will with a blank T-shirt and a sharpie because the world needs to know.
I didn't know that word was a problem - just thought it was in the "not preferred" category and avoided using it for that reason - until Jacob mentioned it was a slur in this stream. Learning has occurred.
I wouldn't say it's necessarily a _slur,_ the etymology is somewhat debated but one interpretation, which is almost certainly wrong, offends some people. In general, the term is supposed to refer to arctic peoples, mainly Inuit and Yupik, and should in theory cover what one means (Native folk living in or at the arctic circle), but depending on who you talk to, they might be offended (usually, somewhat misguidedly, on the peoples' behalf), so it is problematic in that sense. In practice, it's simply a term used in ignorance of this "issue", and while a person has a certain duty to inform themselves about the world to some degree, I'm very much against demonizing people who don't know any better about any given thing. A very common trap is to say "Don't call anybody Eskimo," (already somewhat wrong), "...call them 'Inuit'" (equally wrong as a principle, possibly right or wrong in any given case, but usually with a false sense of correctness) I'm not sure what else to say myself, so I tend to say something like "native [to the Arctic, Siberia, Canada...]", which of course is also presumptuous if I'm not certain... In some cases, you might get away with just describing what you see: "Person wearing hide clothing and snow shoes" might be good for things like GarticPhone ^^
@@black_platypus I was also curious about this, having an understanding of the word similar to Mianne's. I looked it up on Wikipedia and, interestingly enough, just typing in "Eskimo" sent me to an article of that name instead of redirecting me. Looking at the discussion page for that article, it appears the reason for that is, as you pointed out, there really is no accepted term that refers exclusively to all of the groups "Eskimo" is used for (I had initially thought it was a non-PC term for "Inuit", but having now read the article I see I was mistaken). And that got me thinking... what _should_ we call the person Jacob drew? Just a man in a fur parka? While that would be technically accurate, it loses something in translation. Do we call him "a person native to the northern reaches of North America"? It's a bit of a mouthful, and besides, is it even an accurate representation of such a person? Really the only term I can think of for Jacob's drawing is "cartoon Eskimo" - an image that may only exist in popular culture that springs to mind when most Americans hear the word "Eskimo". Just as, conversely, I suspect "Eskimo" is the word that would spring to mind for most of us if we were confronted with that drawing without context - even those of us who know better. Like it or not, the word exists, and appears to have a very specific meaning, even if that meaning doesn't directly reference anything that exists in the real world. It's a bit like the Indians in Peter Pan - what do you call them? We can't call them Native Americans, as they don't live on either American continent. They might be an indigenous people, or they might not - I have no idea how they got to Neverland, or if they were always there. So really all we're left with is "Indians" or, if we want to make it clear we're talking about a fictionalized construct based on pre-existing stereotypes, "cartoon Indians" or maybe "Hollywood Indians". To call those particular characters Native Americans for First Nations people would (I would think) be kind of an insult to actual Native Americans. Anyway, I don't know if all of this is useful or helpful to anyone; it's more or less a transcript of my train of thought as I was taking a bath after watching this video. Take it for what you will.
@@Vox-Multis You call them "Indigenous." It's not hard. Instead of trying to skirt around the issue by trying to find references of where it has been used in popular culture, you need to acknowledge and adjust your social lens. If we looked at Peter Pan, you can see the blatant racist imagery that they've used in depicting an Indigenous person because they are using stereotypes of how European settlers descrived them. The same would be to look at Disney's Pocahontas - they took a tragic real world story and romanticized it. Also it's like the song where they call Indigenous people "savages." Does that mean it's okay to call them that term then? No, because we have acknowledged it to be a derogatory term. I'm not trying to be angry at you, but it is upsetting to see someone try to justify this situation. You don't use the term. You don't try to justify the usage of that term. You acknowledge it was used in the past, and you become aware that you shouldn't use it in current times.

This game really highlights Jacob and Nathan's strengths as artists. I love it!
Man, I love garlic.
Top tier vegetable
Don't we all?
I want a full parody cover of Mummy Dust by Ghost, but replacing every instance of “in god we trust” with “in Todd we trust”
OMG yes, that'd be amazing
I physically hurt while watching this stream because I was laughing so much! One of the finest streams I've ever watched.
I think I grew abs from laughing so hard
Me too!! I haven't enjoyed a video so much in forever
Sameeee! I had to pause several times because I couldn't see through the tears. 😂😂😂😂
never going to describe myself in any way other than 'Lumpy but powerful :)' from now on
All of the Beyonce missing was worth it, just as the punchline of the Universe one.
"it's gonna be fast" *encompasses the last hour of the video*
This is my favorite stream they've ever done, I was in tears by the end. I'm rewatching now and can't wait to be obliterated by Nemo on the cross all over again.
I enjoyed playing "Julia says" with the two angles we see her from at the start of the stream.
2:06:40 this is my favorite moment ever holy shit
Nemo being crucified with the caption "Incomplete" might just be the pinnacle of art. Pack it in boys, art is complete, let's go home.
i lost it
Somebody is having

Stream start timestamp for those on mobile!
Also want to say I was waiting for the stream to start and then paused right before hearing Jacob's voice so I left for an hour before coming back
Was very funny to realize I was a split second too soon before the stream started
Nemo on the cross with the word "incomplete" looming ominously needs to be a shirt. I swear if you don't make it I will with a blank T-shirt and a sharpie because the world needs to know.
Nathan getting mistaken for Oscar the Grouch was the best/most wholesome burn I’ve ever seen
The "Brendon Urie sees a Confused Karina" was such a good inside joke and I'm so glad they let us in on it 😂💀
"Star of dave" and 2:06:44 are my highlights of this whole stream
I didn't know that word was a problem - just thought it was in the "not preferred" category and avoided using it for that reason - until Jacob mentioned it was a slur in this stream. Learning has occurred.
it's type of good ice cream here so I was surprised he drew a person
@@damekkoDark 😂 I bet ^^
A very common trap is to say "Don't call anybody Eskimo," (already somewhat wrong), "...call them 'Inuit'" (equally wrong as a principle, possibly right or wrong in any given case, but usually with a false sense of correctness)
I'm not sure what else to say myself, so I tend to say something like "native [to the Arctic, Siberia, Canada...]", which of course is also presumptuous if I'm not certain...
I got SO confused at Jacob's first drawing until I realized it said confused KARINA not confused KAMINA.
Me too!!
love jacobs "I don't know how to draw this person......... oh wAIT!" moment
I kind of want this to be a regular thing? Just the vibe I get from this is so wholesome and wonderful. :D

They found him.
I laughed hysterically for the entire last half hour+

My neighbor asked me what I was laughing at when we went out later 😁
Nathan: Raw garlic is kinda spicy
Karina: And? *Radiating Tagalo Energy*
“Normandy Colorized” absolutely ruined me
I need more of this, I haven't laughed so hard in a while
I heard Julia mention the no price tag “I guess it’s free” line and I had violent flashbacks to hearing that at least thrice (TODAY, that is, not counting any other days) at work ringing people up at the grocery store at my relatively new first job
2:08:12 "Twitter is not for everyone" is what finally broke me. Brilliant.
I feel like if they play it again, they should try the mode where it replays each album backwards - I bet that would also be hilarious!
I love how Jacob's time bomb was just a lit stack of dynamite
I can't breathe oh my god. This game seems so much fun, play it again!
Made it to the end finally, bad idea to drink a soda during the final few minutes.
i am also confused how everyone is so confused jacob. i feel your pain.

I’m watching this while painting and realized I hadn’t heard Julia talk in a while, so I looked over at my phone screen and got the perfect moment that Julia whipped around and pointed at her camera. I love her quiet humor
