Spend a bunch of money then next week another one, I am still just running through my collection, I never new I had all these bags in my closet, I don't have a 12k bag 🙃 that's more than my car, lol
My husband and I don’t drive or have a car so that’s always been my justification for my love of bags. I’ve spent far less on bags than most people spend on vehicles. It’s crazy how expensive it is just to get around! When my friend who lives in Long Island told me how much it cost to insure the family cars for one year my jaw was one the floor. I also collect other things like art so I’m going to maybe try and showcase some of that on here. I also want to get comfortable talking on camera like you!
I'm guilty of doing a lot of unboxings, hands up, you got me 😅 I totally agree with you re the money at your age (and I am a qualified accountant and investment advisor ) but at my age, life is short. I'm a self funded retiree so I don't take a cent from the state. I buy bags because I genuinely love bags not so that I have something to make another video about. I buy them for me, however, it's nice being able to share them too. It all escalated when I quit 'that bad habit' in 2006 and decided that Instead of spending money on a health damaging habit I'd spend that money on nice things to reward myself for quitting and to be a constant motivation not to start 'that bad habit' again. I have a lot of Chanel bags but only 2 are new, the rest are preloved, although nearly all of them were never used by their previous owners. So I shop wisely, I like a bargain. My family are Scottish what more needs to be said 😂
Truly I made this video to remind myself that I have things to offer other than spending money. I have taken a bit of a lapse here on making content but I do plan on coming back! I think your content is so much more than unboxings. You sprinkle in so much knowledge and humor into your videos it feels as if the unboxing are secondary in my opinion. I do think people have to find the balance that work for them. I didn't document it so much on UA-cam but I went through a bit of a manic shopping phase and I had to just stop cold turkey as they say here in the states. I have since come to my senses and I am now able to buy within reason. However I was on a path of self destruction and in my mind the justification I liked to use was I can use this for content. Now that my mentality has changed as bit I do think I will make videos again. I certainly didn't mean to come off as judgmental when it comes to this topic perhaps I should do an update to this video!

I’m guilty! 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. It’s my addiction. I would buy these anyway. Now, I’m almost embarrassed to continue bag after bag. I’m almost now forced to stop as I’m broke! I’ll sell a few bags then that’ll make me want to buy. I love your honesty and I think I’ve told you that, you are REAL! ❤❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘
I just can’t do it to my husband any longer. While most of my bags weren’t bought on a credit card 💳 I’m starting to look at them and realize that those are experiences we could have shared or even that’s the start to a downpayment on a house 🏡 I will still shop because I have an unhealthy relationship with it but I’m not going to act like it’s normal or okay. I am an equal opportunist when it comes to shopping which means sometimes I find something for 5 bucks and I love it but it also means sometimes I find something at 5 stacks and I love it. That’s a dangerous way to live life. Maybe I’ll talk more about this in another video.

Totally agree. I'm so bored with unboxings, and I generally don't watch them anymore. I enjoy vlogs and more interesting content. Since I stopped watching as much "luxury" content I slowed way down in my shopping, I think in the last 6 months I've bought maybe two bags, neither of which were designer/luxury. Thanks Chris!
I miss hearing the passion about people bags. With an unboxing every day it feels like none of us have time to fall in love with our bags. I want to appreciate what’s in my collection more!

💯 agree with what you said! I know my own channel hasn’t grown as much as I would like because I’m not constantly unboxing luxury bags! I’m ok with still being a small channel. Why? Well because I’m truly buying and showing things I love and are with in my budget. It’s funny becases one of my most watched videos on a bag is from a cheaper non luxury brand! 😂🤷🏻♀️ keep doing you!!
Absolutely I would rather have a smaller group of people following me for me rather than the things I buy. I will still shop don’t get me wrong but I’m not shopping for the internet. I want that for all of us. We all work so hard for our money why just throw it into the void for views?
Hey Chris, I appreciate your viewpoint and I can understand to an extent your frustration and concerns. I guess I’m one of those channels you are talking about except I don’t spend thousands on a bag sometimes not even hundreds. I’m a shopper a bargain shopper it’s my hobbie I love the hunt for a great deal. It took me a few days to respond to because initially I felt called out, and wondered if it was wrong, but after reflecting a bit I’ve decided I should not feel bad. Everyone has their own budget their way of spending and if my husband is ok with it and as long as I stay within the monthly budget I set for myself I’m good as well. Also, it’s kinda deceiving on my channel that I’m buying everyday. I buy in spirts when I find good deals and spread them out to make content last. Due to my RA I was ordered by my doctor to not use bags for over 10+ years. So on a daily I did not carry any handbags this February I went off my ban and yes have gone a bit crazy trying to figure out what will work in the lifestyle I now have to live because of my illness. So my journey also involves trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Anyway sorry this is so long but I guess I felt I needed to just explain as I do love your channel and your interaction in the different groups. I always try and watch and support your channel as soon as you release a video. I just want to say I’m sorry if my channel offends but I can’t really see it changing too much in the future as shopping is my normal hobby. Lots of love and encouragement Dee Dee 🛍️👛🙏🚢
Hi DeeDee thank for explaining your point of view on the unboxings. When making the video I was thinking about one particular UA-camr who recently unboxed 4 Hermes quota bags in one video so truthfully that’s what sparked the video. I hadn’t considered that perhaps peoples shopping may be more staggered and only appear more frequently. As far as your content changing I would never ask anyone to do that especially not for me. I do enjoy seeing all the goodies. I myself will still shop but I just want to find a way to showcase my finds without feeling like I’m only shopping to make videos. I want to shop because I love the thing and show it here because I love it. But not shop because I would love to show it. If that makes any sense.
@@ChatsWithChris yes Chris I totally understand that. I do have to admit sometimes watching those big channels with huge price tag buys and think wow, what I could do with that. But It’s funny because the way I started my channel was because my husband said you do a lot of shopping you should have a channel so you can have people appreciate your finds. Because well ya he’s not into purses 😆 but he’s big on supporting my channel. I’m glad I started my channel because I have met so many great friends and it’s like coming home and showing people who care what I bought. I get why you mean, I try and be really careful not to buy for content but because of the passion of it. I’m not growing as fast as others and that’s fine, I want to keep it fun for me and fun for the audience. Good luck and I look forward to seeing how you maneuver your conflict.
You're so right. I've also been buying way too much, not for my channel, but because there's always a new shiny thing around the corner. I need to start enjoying what I have. I started UA-cam with reviews to help others, but now I find myself in this great community of people who don't care about unboxings either. That's perhaps the most valuable bag-related thing I could wish for. 🙂
If we can all just break the unboxing cycle we will feel so much lighter and freer. I just know there is a world beyond the current unboxing fad. I recently have gotten a few things in the mail that I could have unboxed but I told myself if I wasn’t willing to open it off camera then perhaps I didn’t really want the item. I will continue to shop as I see fit but I’m going to have to find a way to talk about my purchases without contributing to the normalization of over consuming and hyper spending. And that’s what it breaks down for myself I see where these habits can spiral for myself but I really don’t want to influence others to follow in my footsteps.
