Man, I remember watching Phil's video on that trail and he went sooo fast in one of the corners on the first downhill I thought he was going to die, but of course he didn't and of course I clicked that subscribe and smeashed the like button! Cheers to both of you guys!
Oh man I am STOKED for part 2!! That was so rad! Phil’s video of this trail is one of my favorites so I was excited to see you ride it. Super impressed, it’s crazy how much faster you’ve gotten in the last 1-2 years. Lovin it!
I like when you actually focus on the people you ride with and give us a chance to know them. BK needs to do the same thing. Love your attitude and your videos. Thanks
I love the motivational side that you bring to all of this man. Just relating a tough climb to any tough situation in life puts it all in perspective. Nice work bro!! Love every vid
I wish all the people who havent ridden Pisgah could actually see it... the GoPro effect is so real. After watching all the vids on Black Mountain, I just rode it over the weekend and holy hell there are some sketchy spots. The GoPro makes it look like 1/4 as gnarly as it actually is
Alex after watching you for over a year consistently your progress is unreal, getting super fast flowy and smart with line choice. Really inspiring to see! Keep up the great content loving the chill nature b-roll! LFRHGS
Alex, you are so right at 8:30 about climbs. I love/hate them so much. I always feel shitty on the way up, but when I push through it is such an accomplishment. It is only mental!
Your riding skill and confidence has improved soooo much over the period of time i've been watching you, its been great to watch! Keep up the Shred my friend, I'm Jealous of the van BTW. Love from Australia
I miss those types of vids man. Damn covid. But your new stuff is top notch! You have such a cool vibe and a great life discipline. You are inspiring. Keep getting stoked and sharing it with us!!! Cheers
Pisgah has so many great trails. Can't wait to get back there and keep ripping'! Patreon up...without these guys I'd never have heard of many of these great places to ride. Thanks Sampler! Braaaaap!
Hard to get an impression of the trail itself, with all those flicks of green and brown hammering by! Had difficulties recognizing the trail half the time - not sure if it's just your new settings but with nothing to see there's not much to watch here. No offense! Glad you guys had a blast and made it out alive.
I love that type of riding where you're on your toes picking lines the whole way, or it's imminent disaster. It's totally immersive. You were REALLY fighting bad lighting on this video, which is something that can't be controlled. GoPro's just flat out SUCK in mottled lighting like that, so seeing what you were seeing...not so much, but it was still cool to be along for the ride and hearing you obviously loving the trail. I just hope other companies are taking note of how BADLY GoPro has sat on their laurels. To release a 6 that is arguably WORSE than the 5, and not address ANY of the concerns that were plastered everywhere online, is inexcusable. It's a cash grab in the truest sense of the term. That technology should advance faster than it has, and I'm PRAYING Rylo, Sony, Garmin, or a completely new player, will come out with something revolutionary very soon that does well in varied lighting, and is internally stabilized, eliminating the gimbal for 180* filming. Sorry...rant over. :-)
I don't know what it is but every time you ride a trail it looks so sick and fast. Is it the trails itself or the camera angle or you just ride very very fast. Whatever it is keep doing what you do because your videos are some of the best POV videos on youtube. Live free, ride hard and get stoked \m/ \m/ !!!!
Thrill’n ride. That drop you stop and session at the end. The shot of you climbing back up it always puts it in perspective. I definitely plan to try that TerraShield? I’ve pulled several ticks off me the last couple rides.
The speed at which you're riding these trails BLIND is almost equivalent to how fast I ride. On tarmac. Even then you look faster! Man you're really skilled!
Somehow missed this video. Dude other than here in the very southern tip of IL and the surrounding areas not having downhills this long... This is basically all of our trails. They're all rutted and gnarly af lol. I'm so jealous of everyone that gets to ride flowy stuff from time to time!
Just got back on the bike after a 10 year break. Grew up about 20 min away from here and would ride this weekly back in the day with a 50mm head shock Cannondale! Such a great trail.
@9:43 "I'm feeling pretty good, like, lively on the bike today..." WHAP!! :-D I think it was an edit but it was funny. Way to bring the joy of riding and the encouragement to dig deep.
Your unbelievable on bikes and I have a GT avalanche 4.0 and I love riding it but not as much as watching your videos keep up the flat out rides and stay stoked 🚵🏼♂️👍
Nice! After getting used to SoCal trails I kind of wonder if I would be more sketched out to ride super fast Carolina trails now. Southeast: More traction/hero dirt (well, depending on leaves), but with the consequence of nailing a huge tree vs Southwest: Loose sandy trails with the chance of flying off into bushes and maybe some cacti... Could make for a fun comparison video!
Good stuff Alex! Totally reminds me of a trail near me in Auburn California. You need to take that fancy van (haha) and cruise out to Cali and tear it up. Bring Seth, stop and pick up Brian (BKXC) and Robert (B1ker) and we can rip the gnar. Keep it real bud. Love your channel!
That's a classic. On the first chunky downhill, there used to be a beat up old car. No clue how anyone ever managed to get it out there. No clue how it was towed out either...
Not followed for about a month been away. Vids are massively impressive still n what ride you got now? Super stoked when I get my Orbea Rallon M10 full carbon waited 3months man! End of July! Carry on doing what your doing man its totally rad 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻😎
I'll tell you something, you sure can feel the speed in this video. Alex I was clenched for most of that video.... jeeeeeeeeez dude
Told ya!
Even when hearing it from you it's hard to understand just how chunky and awkward the lines get!!
What lines?
The Singletrack Sampler lol so true.
Man, I remember watching Phil's video on that trail and he went sooo fast in one of the corners on the first downhill I thought he was going to die, but of course he didn't and of course I clicked that subscribe and smeashed the like button! Cheers to both of you guys!
Skills With Phil hi
The teacher in you shines through in your videos! You definitely encourage and inspire those riding with you.
What does he teach?
@matt beef He teaches test prep on the SAT and ACT exams to high schoolers.
Lol we actually discussed ACT strategies while we climbed. He's a great teacher!
Thanks
It was an absolute blast to ride with him!
I love the motivational side that you bring to all of this man. Just relating a tough climb to any tough situation in life puts it all in perspective. Nice work bro!! Love every vid
Holy crap dude that looked like so much fun! Definitely workin that bike.
I wish all the people who havent ridden Pisgah could actually see it... the GoPro effect is so real. After watching all the vids on Black Mountain, I just rode it over the weekend and holy hell there are some sketchy spots. The GoPro makes it look like 1/4 as gnarly as it actually is
the tracks still look very wide there. Doubletracksampler? Fireroadsampler?
Alex after watching you for over a year consistently your progress is unreal, getting super fast flowy and smart with line choice. Really inspiring to see! Keep up the great content loving the chill nature b-roll! LFRHGS
Yo thanks brotha! I really appreciate that dude as you know I'm always working to progress my shred :P
Wow, awesome! Such insane speed! I really like trails like that. There is no room for error so you better look far ahead. Really good riding Alex!
Alex, you are so right at 8:30 about climbs. I love/hate them so much. I always feel shitty on the way up, but when I push through it is such an accomplishment. It is only mental!
That's awesome my dude! Those trails look sick! So glad Phil just hit 200K. Im sure you will be there soon!
What!!! I didn't even know that he did, gotta go congratulate him now.. thanks bro!
Your riding skill and confidence has improved soooo much over the period of time i've been watching you, its been great to watch! Keep up the Shred my friend, I'm Jealous of the van BTW. Love from Australia
Phil is the truth, that trail was insane. You had speed and gnarl! Great ride Alex, Thanks!
That sounded suuuper chunky, and you were cooking the entire way... "A+" game right here.. edge of my seat the whole video. Thanks bro!
Thank you Alex!!!!! That was exactly what I needed after the day I've had. Never stop being you.
You are so inspiring! You, Phil, Seth are so awesome! I cannot wait to be HALF as good as you guys are!! Sooo much fun to watch your videos!
I miss those types of vids man. Damn covid. But your new stuff is top notch! You have such a cool vibe and a great life discipline.
You are inspiring. Keep getting stoked and sharing it with us!!! Cheers
Gold medal enthusiasm on this bloke. Love it.
That climbing pep talk came at a good time in my life it's been a hard week thank you for that
Pisgah has so many great trails. Can't wait to get back there and keep ripping'! Patreon up...without these guys I'd never have heard of many of these great places to ride. Thanks Sampler! Braaaaap!
8:39 - BAM, there it is man - the moment I subbed, ridiculous man, YOU MADE ME TEAR UP BRO! Hell yeah, love it, keep it up!
8:20-9:30 =The best motivational speech I've heard all week!!!!
#dirtchurchsermononthemount
"TREE DOWN!" "tree down!"
"GATE GATE GATE GATE!" "Gate gate gate gate!
Lol true
hold the door
Who else lives for the gnarly backcountry rides like this?
The Singletrack Sampler **raises hand**
Me. Heading to Reddish Knob in the Stokesville area this weekend then to West Virginia next weekend.
The Singletrack Sampler would you recommend the terra oil? I currently use permethrin.
Hard to get an impression of the trail itself, with all those flicks of green and brown hammering by! Had difficulties recognizing the trail half the time - not sure if it's just your new settings but with nothing to see there's not much to watch

Great to see the Sampler back!! Singletrack FTW!

Marko Nikolic check out Jeff Kendall weed if you think this is nuts! 👍
So good watching your videos dude!! Even my heart rate is rising just sitting here watching 😮🤣🤣!! Keep up the good work and get Stoked!!!
How does this man anticipate these turns? It's actually unreal.
Thrill’n ride. That drop you stop and session at the end. The shot of you climbing back up it always puts it in perspective. I definitely plan to try that TerraShield? I’ve pulled several ticks off me the last couple rides.
damn dawg, that looked rad as hell! loved the climbing/life motivational talk there, solid advice.
Really inspirational Alex love that feeling of pushing your limits
Once again...my favorite kind of trail fast and narrow. And, you can tell from the amount of clutter it's a road less taken. Good times
John V. Agreed!
Could picture myself with shoulders clenched, eyes darting through the trees looking for the line. Staying upright is victory!
Your videos are therapy for me..!
Woah! Crazy ride, I kept pulling my elbows in just watching. Thanks for sharing!
The speed at which you're riding these trails BLIND is almost equivalent to how fast I ride. On tarmac. Even then you look faster! Man you're really skilled!
Really killer footage in this vid bro. Not sure if it’s because I haven’t watched in a while or What...
Either way. Loved it. Killing it
That trail looks awesome. Can’t wait for part 2
Van is looking good in the background there!
Man.. All this rain has done some trail damage on the east side of the states... Trail builders, where every you are, we need you!
Crazy trail. Man you are #livingthedream can't wait to see the new van more and more.
Somehow missed this video. Dude other than here in the very southern tip of IL and the surrounding areas not having downhills this long... This is basically all of our trails. They're all rutted and gnarly af lol. I'm so jealous of everyone that gets to ride flowy stuff from time to time!
Your video footage never fails to satisfy the thirst to hit the trails! Footage is hectic!!
It´s incredible , very fast with narration !
Gnarly vid! Hope to see ya down New Zealand blasting down some of our tracks one day!!
Dude! That looked stupid fast!!
Can't wait for part 2 🤘🤘
Just got back on the bike after a 10 year break. Grew up about 20 min away from here and would ride this weekly back in the day with a 50mm head shock Cannondale! Such a great trail.
The sketch is on a different level when you ride all this in the rain.
I stayed home from work today and I've been refreshing my sub box waiting for a STS video.
Your wish is my command! *poof!* video appears in sub feed
Sick!! love your van built videos and off course also your riding clips :)
Looks rad! wish there where more trails like that out this way!
Holy cow man! That was amazing!
Dude... this footage is INSANE. You are an animal
What was that tick stuff you used? I'm in Massachusetts and there's tons of ticks around here. That trail looks sick too!
Which DoTerra was it? Their essential oils are AMAZING!!!
Your a boss with those downed trees!
Been wanting to hit this part of Pisgah for a while now. That was gnarly, awesome riding dude!
Yo, you gotta check it out. Definitely my favorite area now
8:21
motivational speech during a climb
damn
Watching this ride almost gave me motion sickness 😂😂😂. Looks amazing.
@9:43 "I'm feeling pretty good, like, lively on the bike today..." WHAP!! :-D
I think it was an edit but it was funny. Way to bring the joy of riding and the encouragement to dig deep.
Every time I watch your riding videos I think that I'm on 1.5 or 2x speed. Love your vids
The trees were giving you so many high fives!
This was a awesome video man like the place of choice to ride was amazing loved it
You didn't get any ticks because you were shredding to hard for them to catch you! ;)
Your unbelievable on bikes and I have a GT avalanche 4.0 and I love riding it but not as much as watching your videos keep up the flat out rides and stay stoked 🚵🏼♂️👍
I felt like I’m riding a speeder bike thru the Ewok Forest during those down hills!! Nuts, just nuts.
Man...that trail is like really really gnarly, wowwwww!!!
Great video. Keep posting good videos like this one.
Damn, dude , I smiled the whole time watching this...lol..just subed
this guy is an angel
8:16 Yeah, i live for this too 🤘😁 ! Greetings from Germany🍀!
Damn. Fast speed on first run? Super cool man. We track read a new trail earlier and cant even run like usual.
That's super steep fast section had my jaw hitting the floor.
this seems like it would be a good place to train for enduro with the downhill then climb over and over
It's definitely more exciteing then scary that is boss great tag that trail your right 👍.
Damn you were really ripping in this one. Also got like 5 ticks during a short walk of shame today (were still crawling), harder shred -> less ticks
When Phil says jump, you say how high? Great video! Cheers!
Holy shit Alex, that was FAST! Sick riding man.
