Michael Heiser makes a good argument the curse on the child, Canaan, if because Ham laid with Noah's wife. The aruement goes "Noah's nakedness" is his wife buy worded this way out of chivalry, a religious, moral and social code not to disgrace her..... It says Abram was raised by Noah and Shem, who were the first and second Melchizedek prophet/priest/kings of the world after the Flood. Abraham inherited this position, then Isaac, then Jacob. Jacob divided the three roles among his sons (Joseph was the prophet, Levi was the priest, Judah was the king). It's probably that the roles were united in David (he was allowed to eat the shewbread, which is reserved for Levites, 1Sam 21:6; and he was a prophet Psalmist as well as the king of Israel), and therefore his descendant, Jesus, is the next Melchizedek prophet/priest/king.

This is the only thing that has ever made sense to me. Heiser had the proper understanding.
