Alhamdulillah we’re blessed with lovely in-laws who are supportive and will look after us for a year/6 months etc. But for long term IMO your own space is best for in-laws and the couple, the time you get with them after is more precious and valued.

The reason why our way of life works in all scenarios eg. Recession etc (alhumdulilah) is that we stay longer with our families thus enabling us to save more which in turn means less debt on our heads. But nowadays the demand for having your own place is such that people are either avoiding getting married or in turn if they do get married are struggling to make ends meet. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's easy to move into a new family, but a small sacrifice goes a long way.
