Instead Vidic stalled for a moment to cut off the passing lane. The moment he was sure the attacker was committed to go on goal, Vidic immediately lunged in for the tackle. And all this awareness happens in a few seconds. The guy was an absolute monster. But he was also a genius.

Iam a United supporter and definitely love vidic although van Dyke from his first season to 2019 was an absolute beast. He probably would not sacrifice his body like vidic did but the man has so much calmness in his play especially when passing. He looks like Rafael Marquez Barcelona days 2003-2006 with those long ass precise passes that Marquez had. Also I remember the couple of times Virgil stopped 2 counters 1 v2 when he was the last man so strategically. I literally only watched Liverpool to see him play.
