  • It was a long day. And it was not about work for a change. Saturday started with the usual morning rounds, followed by day care and some paperwork. I managed to reach home just before noon and following that, we made plans.
Top of the agenda was getting Anita's Knafeh chocolates. She has been on about it for the last couple of weeks. We learned that one of the vendors making the chocolate was having a pop-up stall at Central Market this weekend. That was it! I was sold.
We parked at Dataran Merdeka, walked past MAKAN.BUZZ, saying hello to a few photographer friends. We then walked on to Central Market and Anita found the vendor. Since it was hot and sunny, plus we planned to take lunch there, the chocolate was kept with the vendor while we went about our business.
Central Market was packed that afternoon with plenty of events going on. We spotted a restaurant at the Annexe, called Pak Jen Malaysian Flavour. We were not expecting much but we were surprised. The curry was really good. And despite the searing weather outside, the interior of the restaurant was cosy.
We headed straight back home after picking up the Knafeh chocolates to put them back in the fridge. It was still early then, so we planned for another outing - before the evening bicycle ride weather permitting.
We decided to see what was the deal with the newly renovated Semua House. I managed to wriggle a parking space in the area sandwiched between Campbell and Jalan Bunus. Perfect. And we realised then that we drove straight into pasar malam at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman! We killed two birds with one stone!
Plenty of work had been done to Semua House, turning it into an urban cultural hub. The interior had been stripped bare, reminiscent of REXKL. There were still plenty of retail spaces needed to be filled, with the lowest floor being a food court - which was empty on this Saturday afternoon. We walked into an event happening there at a central stone staircase which would make a nice centrepiece to the building.
The same cannot be said about the crowd outside at the pasar malam. It was just after 4 pm and there were already plenty of foot traffic. Busy place and we bought a few items for dinner. Laksa, nasi lemak, keropok lekor, apam balik among other things. And they were terrific. The quality of the food there was much better than I remembered. We were happy.
That was not yet the end of our day. We managed to make it at Taman Botani Perdana by 6 pm! We did a couple of rounds and sat a little watching the time passed by. Terrific weather. Terrific afternoon.
England was playing the Swiss in the Quarterfinal of Euro 2024 that midnight. While waiting, I produced five videos! All from the day's captures. I had some plans to shoot slow-mo video featuring places in KL, hopefully producing 10 minutes videos each time! Time to get craving!
