    Étienne is the name of the guy (an assistant or manager ?) she was always hailing and yelling at when she was going at the record company, that’s how she had the idea of this song. It’s been by far the biggest French hit of the mid-80’s in France, Germany, Italy, UK and more… Guesch Patti (you pronounced very well) was a former classical star ballet dancer at the Opera house in Paris before recording this tune. According to an interview of her sound engineer, she recorded the vocals in a one shot! And of course there was no autotune at the time… Words are obviously very explicit, and there were many songs about sex at the time, but this tune is one of the few where the woman takes the lead at all levels!!! Great voice, great lyrics and great tune! Unfortunately it’s cut before the end.

      Yes! Guesch Patti and France Gall were French female singers very appreciated in Germany and also if I remember Rose Laurens in 1983 with Africa in its English version : No.3 In Germany and No.1 in Austria!

    Etienne (Steven) is the same as “Dick” in English... I never knew. Am Swiss and learned French only later... she’s 42 here and she was a dancer too!

      No it is not:-) So you didn’t miss anything really. Étienne is just a name, with the same origin as Stéphane (Steven), it has no slang meaning. Weird how this fake rumour has been spreading on YT.
