Congratulations, one day I aim to be in a cybersecurity role as part of the blue team side of the house. These certifications cost a lot of money but the return of investment is not bad once someone gets the job.

I took the Security+ on February and passed it with 760. Barely made it after 2 months of study from 8 to 12 hours per day even on weekends. After read that Security+ was just the "intro" to cyber security I checked the CySA+ material and saw that the material was very similar but more focused on "on hands experience". I got the Sybex book, some video courses and the sybex practice book and study again 2 months from 8 to 12 hours per day. End up passing the exam on my first try with only 756. These cyber security exams are hard for sure! They require a lot of experience on other areas like server administration and networking. I only did it because of my years of experience. To be honest I'm worry for the next exam in 3-4 years when I will have to take it again for the re certification.

Just started the practice exams and, yes, definitely lots of questions that you won't know with some admin experience.
In addition to what the other guy said, they started a new way to renew. I renewed my sec+ by just talking a "test" that you could take an unlimited number of times. But, you have to get 100%. Took me 3 goes.

Just took first attempt of the exam on Friday and failed with 713! :( Invested in the Sybex books this time around and going to work through them and the practice tests, before putting it back in again in a few weeks. One of the PBQ few me off, would definetly recommend others getting familar with using NMAP and some vulnerability scanners like Nessus if you can.

imo i think the sybex study guide is the best resource , followed by jason dion's course and then the 1000 questions text book

Tbh I watched Jason Dion's course and I was baffled by all the terms and info he gives that is not listed on the objectives. Although I did learn from his course I felt it was kinda a waste of time. I think I will try Plural Sight for some vendor diversity.

I just passed acquired my Security+ and I work in the IT field. -- I'm curious at the time you obtained the CYSA+ how much professional IT experience you had already, and how much of that experience was cybersecurity based? ...or are you a full time student only? (at the time)

Hey bro, you mentioned you took your exam in the bathroom. Unfortunately, I have an overactive bladder, and might have to try that too. Is it okay to take the exam on the toilet? I know it sounds ridiculous. Or is it better to pee in a bottle if worse comes to worse.

I hear a lot of sources say to get really comfortable with reading logs for this one. Did the PluralSight course dive heavily into logs? What other resources have you found for this besides DION and Sybex? I used both of those to pass Sec+.
