What a flashback to my beginnings of shuffling circa 08/09. I remember seeing Francis, Moonboy, Lier, Morlokx, Sahra & Pae, Achik & Hardstyle Republic and falling in love with this dance and trying to learn it. I was so inspired and I was so determent that I bought 2 vertical mirrors and set up a little shuffle studio in garage so I can practice and see myself doing the steps. I practiced whenever I could and got better and added arm movements. I think I did good cuz after few months when I was shuffling to house music in clubs I always was getting a circle of people watching me and cheering me on and I had so much fun dancing ! To this day I go to the shuffle meet ups few times a year in my city and even when I shuffle at trance and house clubs/events I get props cuz even I am old, 49 to be exact, I still have a smooth and flowy old school style that is fun to dance and learned from watching these legends.

i remember getting into the melbourne shuffle watching those early youtube vids as a kid born and raised on Aruba. I was like one of three people on the entire island who got into it. it was by far the most niche weird thing I've ever dabbled in, but it was the best way to get my energy out and i truly loved the music. will never forget these times.

I remember giving away my hardstyle logo hoodie signed by The Prophet to an old friend in 07, becoming kind of a spotlight in clubs as the one guy who glides across the dancefloor in 08 and 09. I still got TERRIBLE quality mixes up on my channel too and I love them dearly. But some time during the 10s I just lost all passion for it like many others did. It's just a few months ago when I'm finally battling my depression that Melbourne shuffle comes in clutch, motivating me to move myself, to lose weight and to reignite that love for the scene I had all that time ago. Thank you so much for reminding me and the world about what once was, and with luck, might be once again.

agreed. And it was NEVER the real Melbourne Shuffle in Party Rock Anthem. It got bastardized it into simple movements for people who couldn't really do the dance. Its what modern day "shuffle" is. I hate how people nowadays get to claim they can "shuffle" when it is so easy to do what they consider shuffling today. LMFAO the band ruined it. People used to stop in awe and give big props to real shufflers. Now its not even anything to write home about when you see the modern version of Shuffle.

I first was into Jumpstyle & Hardjump, then I also wanted to learn that kind of shuffling. My personal "golden" era of perfoming those dances at events was at the age round about 16 - 19 years old.

    I miss these days.
My friends and I used to meet up and do shuffle dances like this on a Dance Dance Revolution machine at our local video game arcade every weekend.
We usually ended up drawing in crowds who would watch us not only owning it up on the machine, but actually dancing on it at the same time. Sometimes, other players would tag in and switch out with us in the middle of song without skipping a beat.
Man...those were the days. I made so many friends through this game and through shuffle dancing.

Grew up in Syd, Saw the influence of Melb shuffle take over the Sydney Stomp in the early 00's. Back when the Cross was in its peak. Was fortunate enough to travel to Melb and attend several clubs and see the best of the best Melbourne shufflers with no mobile phones, clean supplements and great family dance culture. Great memories.

I remember back like '95 '96 in sydney there was this happy hard rave skip we did. kinda died off a bit, then homebake 2002 walking between spots and I hear this goood doof like a bit of charlie lownoise or something. skipped a little as our group moved along and this random chick was like OHMYFUCK I HAVEN'T SEEN THAT IN YEARS! runs over and joins me, and we had a fun little dance. Good times. Thanks for bringing back a happy memory for me, that's cool :)
It was almost like running man evolving through the skip into shuffle and the euros went jumpstyle and hak, as the music went from hard house to happy hard and gabba to hardstyle (and gabba). god those were the days. The funny thing is, they still are because hardcore never dies. 🤘:glowstick emoji:

3:05 remember when most people in dance scenes made their own clothes ?!
industrial types also did it - full on costumes ... them were the days...

there is still one video i just can't find anymore. it was a shuffle competition in an asian mall or something, and it was HSA or some other group, all with masks, and they were shuffling on a small stage made of wood there.

Melbourne shuffle is harder to learn but worth the work. I dig jumpstyle also. Modern shuffle is different but I respect the all dance and sometimes it's about the yourney 😎 🙏 🤲 🕍

This is real shuffle! I really miss it. I really liked videos with old school shuffle but I hadn't saw them for several years. Then I was shocked when I've seen what people call shuffle now. Glomorous seminaked girls in leggings... It can be anything but not shuffle.
I would add to this video Pae with his tricks with baseball cap. It was amazing!

I found out about shuffle a while ago from the old videos and wanted to learn it really much.
Then I felt discouraged when I found tutorials of shuffle that looked like the first video you showed at the beginning...

melbourne shuffle only became popular in my country when I was 17 (2007). But even then, it was viewed as activity school dropouts or gangsters would engage in, it wasn't until mid 2010s did it finally be accepted as a form of dance.

Totally 💯 as the warehouse rave scene started to die mainly due to the good venues not being available and the scene getting to big/commercial. Clubs like HK started getting their loyal punters spurred by Hard Trance/NRG and with the basics of the old school Melbourne shuffle honed the style into what ya see, it’s also why everybody dances 99%the same.
