Been tying spade end hooks as small as size 20 by hand for a long long time but my eyes are getting worse and can no longer see what I’m doing so I bought one of these today that had no instructions and this video helps massively
Hi Dazzab81 Glad the video helped buddy I know I haven’t posted anything new for quite some time but I’ve had a lot going on in my personal life but should hopefully get back on it soon Thanks Brad 👍🏻🎣
Bonjour from France. Brilliant presentation watched the video twice and hey presto, " I got the Matchman to work ". Bloody brilliant. Thanks Brad, i have subscribed.
Mate , iv'e been fishing now for 26 years, i'm 32 and ive had a Matchman in everyone of my tackle boxes but never ever sussed it out but this video has changed that.. I have just tied my first flipping spade end!!!! Get the f@$k in!!! Hahaha. Thanks to you bro, ive just made about 15 rigs up using them so cheers again bud for such a clear and on point video. Thumbs up from me and you got a sub here too.
UK4/20 Peng thank you so much buddy I’m so glad the video helped 👍🏻 If there is anything you would like me to do a video on let me know and I will see what I can do 👍🏻🎣 Tight lines
I know it's quite an old video, but there's a massive tip I will give you to improve your method. If you clamp the hook in the jaws at a slight angle to the left, it will guarantee the line coming from the inside of the spade every time.
Hi Thanks for getting in touch and thanks so much for the tip I will try it out and see about making another video on it and will give you a shout out Thanks Brad 👍🏻🎣
Hi Adie Glad you liked the video I will be remaking a video on using the matchman hook tyre as the line was coming off the wrong side of the spade So make sure to keep an eye out for that one Thanks Brad 👍🏻🎣
Mark Chandler thanks for the comment and sub I have caught carp to ten and a half pound on my pole using this knot on a spade end hook But for large carp I would use eyed hooks and hand tie the knotless knot 👍🏻🎣
Having had a knot slip on a spade end hook yesterday (funnily enough this happened after i landed the fish when the fish was thrashing about in the net as i tried to unhook it) after watching this and another video, i realize what i've done wrong with tying my spade end hooks with my matchman, simply i havent been pulling on the tag end when tightening the knot, only the standing line. I guess by not pulling on the tag end when tightening this causes the knot to not bed down properly.
I'm having the same problem, like you, knot is perfect, but main line, where hook is tied to, is all twisted and not straight, looks like damaged line) . Trying to correct that, so I stumble upon this video looking for solution. Other videos use big hooks and tick lines :(
one thing you did not mention wetting the knot before pulling tight so your line pig tailed i must admit never seem the tag end pulled before if done in one you just wet the knot slacken the kob pull the main line job done no pushing up the knot
Hi Tom Thanks for the comment I have mentioned in previous videos about wetting the know so assume people would know about doing that I will do another video on using this particular hook tyer and take your advice on board Thanks Brad👍🏻🎣
Herman Wilson hi mate Thanks for the question I don’t know where in the world you are but here in the uk a size 14 hook is not considered small as our hook sizes go down to a size 24 which is tiny With a size 14 hook I could catch anything from a roach to a double figure carp Hope this answers your question 👍🏻
Not a good example of how to use a hook tyer. Line is kinked and will ruin presentation when fishing. You need to keep the line tight to the spool when using this hook tyer!
@@BradsanglingadventuresMy apologies for my comment, I was just frustrated yesterday while trying to watch your video to see how to use the tool and if I wanted to purchase one so thank you for your calm and objective reply. I think it would be helpful to viewers and your future subscribers to post a video that synchs the visual with the audio.

Great information..
Hi I've way's wondered about the dark art of spade end tying with these things now I know 😆

Thanks for this video Brad, I got one of these in a joblot of things I brought and was wondering how to use them.
Alan Wilkins No probs mate they can be a little tricky at first but it gets easier with a bit of practice 👍🏻🎣
@@Bradsanglingadventures Doing a lot of that (practice)
Thank you much appreciated 🎣👍

Thanks for the video. Easy to follow. Just got one and didn't know how to use it. Anyone know how well this knot works for carp?

Hi.
Could you do a video on tying hook lengths with the preston looptyer. Also various loop sizes. Thanks
it looks easy when i see you , but like way say in french "I have two left hands"
Thanks for this video

It helps to put something heavy on the spool so you can keep a slight tension on the line while doing it 👍
Good tutorial Brad but could I suggest that you have a white background?

Curious with such a tiny hook what are you trying to catch ?Thanks for the video I just purchased that knot tool

Ook I’m in the United States .. Never used a hook that small. I mostly bass fish with 4/0 to 5/0 ewg hooks...

Hi , I started watching your video and thé sound was not good, I just gave up . Maybe something to look into.
The golfer thanks for letting me know I will look into it
You are doing it wrong. The line should come off the front of the spade.

Your back ground is to dark. Can not see any thing.
Your background is too dark. Can't see what you're talking about..
Ridiculous that you would video a black tool on a black background.

Hi thanks for the comment but I’m sorry you feel that way
