The session was so good and kind of beneath the surface. I loved you gave different exmaples how the network actually works in real life with your and your husband's examples with your friends. Did not hear anybody talk about it befere in countless videos or resources I have been through! Wonderful!!
You really have to consider interest and time value of money..... + family + pandemic + 401k+ life overall + having a job.. I feel like flashy MBA is only as valuable as the knowledge the person brings to the table.
Yes... when you recruit, you are competing with your classmates who have the same thing in common with you, your degree. So the question is what else do you bring to the table. Usually that aspect is evaluated and addressed during the application process. Many schools look at your employability after you graduate in evaluating your fitness for the program. There is the old dilemma, are HBS graduates getting recruited because they went to HBS or were they really amazing to start with, which is why they got admitted to Harvard and got the job on their own. One thing I can say, business school definitely changes you and makes you more confident. It is only when you’re pushed to the limit that you really understand what you’re capable off. Business school tends to do that.
Maria is absolutely amazing. Totally agree. She has not gone by the way, just tend to be pretty busy 🥴 If you have any specific topics you would like her to cover, let us know here in the comments.
I’m in a top 100 and don’t care. I worked my ass off into a mid level exec position. I’m working backwards now to get an mba just to not get low balled at other companies. Cheap online school. Better route if you have the experience
So Maria went to HBS and is now sitting and doing these webinars, while someone like Dara didn't even get an MBA and is now the CEO of Uber. No MBA program in the world is going to give you something you don’t already have and vice-versa if you ain't got it you ain't got it. They advertise 1 successful alumni, while the other 99999 disapear into the unknown, but they dont mention that part
If you want to get a "free" MBA, you dont have to look too far down the list. Arizona State's W. P. Carey (currently #30 on US News) offered free tuition in 2015 and has silently continued the practice of offering very low cost MBAs even as it rises in the ranks and has gotten its students into top firms like top consulting and tech firms lik McKinsey, Amazon and Microsoft - despite being known as a top Supply Chain school (#3).

Much appreciated, Maria & GMAT Club. Agian, this session is very useful, especially to affirm my trajectory. 🙏👍
Hats off Maria .... What an engaging webinar. Thank you for your point of view and opinion :)

@@gmatclub What sounds harder to your "ears"? 1. Certified Public Accountant or 2. Masters Degree in Statistics?
The Value of the MBA is going to be seen by the future employer in the internships that were sucessfully fulfilled.
Great video. I'd love for you to do a video with your husband as well to expound on the network examples you quoted :)

Haas is as good if not a little better than Kellogg, MIT Sloan, Chicago and Columbia.
Haas is a good school and in the ranks of those schools you mentioned.
Maria, a little less caffeine before recording will be helpful.
This video was sorta insufferable. Dripping with an elitist attitude.
J Smith not from Maria! She is the nicest person... you can’t say that about her. For how accomplished she is, she is super humble...
@@gmatclub totally agree!
Too cynical....
