this is great advice, the problem with bacteria in a bottle is there there are only a handful of strains of bacteria (maybe 3), but a mature tank will have hundreds of strains of bacteria. the biodiversity is where you want to land. I have seen and used a bacterial and carbon dosing regimen from Cruz of Elegant Corals who did a podcast on ReefDudes and anecdotally it works but macrophage bacteria will turn the pest bloom into jelly and sludge and now you got a jelly and sludge export problem on your hands that you need to deal with ASAP. So overall this is great advice just to be patient and let the tank mature via microbial succession which is a very slow process (tens of weeks unfortunately)

Agree with so many people out there telling you different ways . With cyano when 1st spotting it just keep your lights of 2-3days you don’t have to black your tank out , keeping the blinds down helps . Thanks for your vid 😀🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿👍

I had a bad case of cyano for 4 months 😪. Everytime I syphon it out from the sand bed it seemed like it was better, then next day it had grown back all over the sand again😫. It is so frustrating. So doing some research in lighting, I found that cyano likes the red and green spectrum of lighting and if I'm correct yellow as well. So being that I didn't want to dose my tank with any cyano killers I 🙏and reduced my AI 32 red, green and yellow light channels to 45% down from 62%. It took about 4 to 5 days but all I can say is that it worked. My sand bed is snow white again. I also used phosguard in canister filter and any green algae turned brown as well. It's been now 4 weeks and no sign of cyano or green alge.😁

you shouldnt be running red or green in a ref tank anyways those are mainly for a refugium or plant growth

The skimmer has nothing to do with depleted oxygen or reduced nutrients. Just like when you place your arm in the tank, small amounts of oils and fats cause premature popping of the air bubbles.

The waste away affects your protein skimmer because it is depleting your oxygen level in the water. It does say on the back of the bottle that if you overdose it, it will cause a drop in oxygen level. Thank you for being honest, I get lost with all these products and a lot of reef people say use this or that and I use it, and nothing happens. Vibrant can lead to things worse than cyanobacteria by the way. Keep with the basic, I would recommend Coral Euphoria, he rarely adds anything and is mainly about keeping good practices.

Gary just curious you mention vibrant leading to things worse than cyano do you have personal experiences with this or a like to a study ? I’m currently using vibrant to help with Dino’s and I have noticed a few things I’m wondering if the vibrant is the cause

With waste away your supposed to turn your skimmer off for 8 hrs

My thought on waste away and the skimmer. I see the same thing with vibrant and I’m wondering if the bacteria is eliminating the organics in the water so fast there is not enough for the skimmer to produce foam. I do notice water Clarity improvement very fast using vibrant

I'm sorry but this video is bad....you are saying a lot of nothing about each product. You are literally saying "I don't know" in reference to every bottle. Then you show a very little rise of your skimmer as if it were overflowing. You must not have seen what an overflowing skimmer looks like. I am here to see video evidence of what the products do....not a guesstimate of what it might have done. You should have showed a before and after with each product and explained what you have seen in the process but instead you used all of the products (probably in conjunction) and pretty much free-balled what each might have done but nonetheless I do appreciate the effort!
