Mike: I want to make fire the way it was made 50 thousands years ago
Also Mike: watches TV while making fire
@@dillpickles3046 to be fair, early humans would have have sharp tools that vaguely resembled a knife that would have been able to cut wood
Imagine people from prehistory watching this and laughing.

Not even from prehistory. People used to be able to do this not that long ago
Come on Lad... You know what we want. The backflip.

Mike: I want to make a fire.

Mike in 2024:
Learning how to phase through objects like the flash
KamuiWolf finally a boku no hero watcher and lemillion can only phase himself through stuff
A problem with his ‘Average Mike’ series now is that he has learnt so many skills and gotten so quick at picking up new skills that he is no longer ‘average.’
He is average Because he never tried that skill before and has no clue about tehnique or steps for learning that skill
That may be true. But the key is that he will still run into the SAME mistakes as a beginner; that's more valuable to learn than simply the time it takes.
he was average from the begining, he was an avereage person once and he is showing you can do these things but i see what you're saying.
kinda true tbh
Well at this point it is basiclly "learn quick" not average mike
I know that is what it was but now he sort of rebranded
Making fire is not hard. You just need to dig gravel to get some flint and you also need to find 1 iron ore. Its that simple

Mike: “Carry around this two chemicals”
Me: “Or just bring a lighter”
Two lighters as back up everytime I'm in the woods for extended periods of time. Hundreds of fires worth of capability, rather than a few with the potassium and glycerin.
7:33 he is like: I am a god
7:48 he is like: I am a Scottish dancer.
"Just carry these two bottles around with you", didn't think about the newest invention, the lighter?
Mike, you really need to do a "surviving in the wild for a week challenge"
Think about it, you know how to fish with natural resources, you know how to find and identify safe food in the forest and you know how to make fire. Im sure you could learn a couple more skills to prepare for it so maybe a 2 part series. DO IT
lity fity YES I would LOVE to see him combine multiple skills he’s learned into single challenges
Neo skills: Break glass with the the voice, stay 4 minutes without breathing, solve the rubik cube etc
7:30 "Egmont" Ouverture, by Beethoven, to any who asked themselves what music was in underground.

"Where there's smoke, there's fire... Yeah, that a lot of booushit!" :)
I like the persistence and comedy! Very fun to watch. I'll be sure to add my frustration in some of my videos ! :)

Learn to Write with your non dominant hand we're waiting
Lol I tried that thinking it was easy and it wasn't as easy as it looks...
Then again.. I just tried that for fun for like 2 minutes...
Kimson Nguyen It would with the right editing and the right content. He could do all kinds of letterings.
I tried for like 10mn a day or less, and one month later i could write slowly but rightly. Now (6months later), my left hand writing is almost as good as my right hand one, and i didnt try hard, so i think it is too easy for him 😂
Commenting for that algorithm yo
PS absolutely loved the making fire sequence, with the music building, seriously classy man you managed to make that really powerful scene. Best channel on yt!

This to remember with the rotating stick "friction method" is you have to put something underneath to get the burning wood embers, such as a leaf, and make sure to have your tinder bundle ready already because you will have to transfer the embers to it very quickly. Just like Mike had, near the end of the video! And do NOT stop the instant you first start seeing smoke! that's when you keep going!!! You wait until it's REALLY smoking, then you can check for a pile of embers. :) And do not work yourself too hard trying to do it, because you might sweat, which can lead to hypothermia when you're in a survival situation, and also will use up calories you'll have to find food to replace, to keep yourself going to do all the things you need to , to survive. Or hike. Or whatever. :)
I appreciate the content & effort on your channel.
Keep it up 🙌
You know you can make rope yourself by only using stuff you find in the forest
@@lordofgraphite yes you can also find shoots of random plants and peel the skin and braid it into a rope
I love your videos mate, very inspiring. Some suggestions for you:
1. Learn to make cordage (string, rope). Use your made cordage to revisit the bow drill
2. Learn to make a forge via only natural/gathered materials
3. Learn to find iron ore
4. Learn to make your own axe/knife using only natural/gathered materials in your made forge. Light the forge using the bow drill and your crafted cordage
5. Learn to make a shelter and attempt an overnight camping trip using only your crafted equipment
6. Learn to ride a horse
7. Learn to fly a paramotor
8. Learn to base jump
Just some suggestions, gluck!
7:47 Mike's victory dance.

I can't believe you did that for 10 days straight! I wish you would show the state of your hands!

The first cave man who discovered fire must've been like:
I have a special ability I can capitalize on (modern greed influence maybe?)
I love the persistance. No matter how frustrated he got, he just kept going. With that attitude, anyone can accomplish much!
So great to see!
The most impressive thing is about Mike that he is so chill with it , he doesnt give up
Props to you Mike
Love the vid
Good job! Ive been practicing and teaching hand drill for many years. It was great to see you work through the challenges it presents.
Great job
Good for you mike
Song at 6:32 is Beerhoven's Egmont overture. It's pretty epic.
Thank you! I was sure it was something beethoven but couldn't work out what it was

@@robertodelatorre3829 You think humans forged knives before we made rope?
The man's dedication is massive
What you could do instead of using a shoelace for the bow drill method you could make a chord out of a natural material like bark.
Congrats!! 9 days of practice... wow!
I actually really enjoy watching these. A real inspiration!
I like it when he does what he wants to learn and he is excited with happiness keep it up man I hope you learn to run and beat flash
i’m ready to be inspired by your backflip!!
Hey Mike, could you do a video where you try to learn morse code? :)
Its gonna be cool... For him. What will we watch? A middle aged man just repeating the same thing till he memorizes it its not content m8. Think about the views

"... A notch." Oh, now I feel stupid.
All the time that goes into this video and he doesn’t even make it 10 minutes for the ads. What a geeza!!
You really inspiring and motivating
He should make Spotify playlist for the music he listened to called “Tunes to make fire”
Mike always inspires me to push my limits
Mike please I really want to see u try again to do the backflip I would really appreciate if u see this comment like if u agree
this man is the embodiment of practice makes perfect
U can still use the bulldrill method using a cord made by multiple thin, long leaves and then twisting them to make a good and durable cord.

Nice. Watching you complete all these things over the years makes me think humanity is good after all. Damn you learn fast. GGs.
I believe Mike has the greatest brain plasticity of any one I've ever seen.
Your music choices are absolutely perfect. 🤣😂
Spends almost the whole video practicing to make fire at home,
Mike Boyd's next video: How to burn your house accidentally
You are an inspiration to everyone. We love you mike. Keep up the great work ❤️😊
Notch the top, use some green vine as cordage. Tie a loop on each side. put the the vine rope in the notch and your thumbs in the loop. It will be much easier to maintain pressure and you won't have to reset.
I really love your videos bro
Hi Mike do you remember how you tried to learn backflip. You should remake it and realy learn it.
the issue with the hand drill is that the punk is super light meaning you need a lot more down pressure also when bow drilling you can use poppler strands and make rope with it instead of paracord also do it into a leaf doing it on wet ground is a death sentance
Challenge: _exists_
Mike: *this is day one, hour zero*
Mike should do a video where he tries to learn to backflip again after quitting last time
Your music selection is top notch
That's pretty awesome after all the days practicing, he managed to make smoke and eventually fire in no time flat!
The time has finally come, mike boyd is evolving
Thanks for the tips with the chemicals but i could also instead just carry a lighter 😂
