    I love that you sympathize with Obi-Wan in his mentoring of Anakin. Most master/padawan relationships are almost parental in nature, but the difference in age between them was 16 years and Anakin came to the order with a parental figure in his mother and as a slave, the master/slave concept was abhorrent to him. Obi-Wan's choice to treat him like a friend and brother was the right choice but Anakin was also confident and let's be honest, arrogant. I think Obi Wan did the best he could.

    • @MovieJoob
      @MovieJoob 2 роки тому +12

      I definitely think Obi Wan did the best he could and the amount of responsibility on his shoulders would've been so immense. He was so relatively young when he had to first take on Anakin as his padawan whilst most master's get to be much more experienced by the time they have their own padawan!

    • @ItApproaches
      @ItApproaches 2 роки тому +8

      Disagree, treating the Chosen One like a younger brother/friend was the mistake. Obi-Wan wasn't ready to get an apprentice, look how well Anakin was as Ahsoka's master. Obi-Wan and the Jedi order treated Anakin horribly. Qui-Gon would have been best for Anakin.

    • @jeffburnham6611
      @jeffburnham6611 2 роки тому +8

      @@ItApproaches you can't compare the Obi-Wan/Anakin relationship to the Anakin/Ahsoka relationship. Anakin started his training too late, he was too old. Had he begun as a Youngling he would have been taught by several Jedi Masters and learned how to not form attachments and trust in the Force. There were times when Anakin was too protective of Ahsoka, and she rebelled against his decisions. The difference is, she was able to control her emotions.

    • @carlosn894

      The Problem is, that Obi Wan sees Anakin like a brother, he even said so in EP3. Whilst Anakin sees him as a father. Considering that Anakin never had a father figure in his live, this disparity how they see each other becomes more serious as he grows up. You treat your younger brother different than your son, you give more leniency. If Qui Gon would be his master, he would be the father figure Anakin needed.

    Anakin and Padame's wedding was secret. Only C3PO and R2D2 knew about it. Also, you saw those Jedi kids, aka Younglings, now you know why Yoda said Anakin was to old at 9 to start training to be a Jedi, and why Luke at 18ish was even older. Kids who are force sensitive are taken at 2-3 years old to become Jedi.

    6:32 I like how you notice that, Jade. As a Padawan, Obi-Wan was defiant and audacious. Losing Qui-Gon made Obi-Wan more cynical and cautious. Sadly, that meant he was a far more orthodox and conservative Master than Qui-Gon had been. But Obi-Wan thought he needed to be that to keep Anakin safe. He lost Qui-Gon; he wasn't about to lose his ersatz brother too.

David Prowse who played Darth Vader (the body) had been Franenstein's monster in movie. James Earl Jones who did Vader's voice was in Conan the Barbarian. If you want a really good filler of what happens to Anakin, Obi-Wan, Padme and the others before events in the next movie, then the animated series is definitely worth watching. And, it makes events in the next movie all the more tragic.

    Just think, this all came from the lines from "A New Hope". Leia said "You served my father in the Clone Wars" and Obi Wan told Luke about how he served with his father Anakin, in the Clone Wars. Obi also said Luke's father was "a cunning warrior", "the 'best' star pilot" and a good friend". From this description I started to imagine Anakin in the early 1980's, when I was young. He was totally my favourite, even though I would not see him use a lightsaber until 2002, 20 years later. 😀He is still my favourite because he did the right thing in the end proving he was "the chosen one" after all.

    The Jedi are not generally allowed to marry. They are not allowed to form attachments with others, so those attachments may not be used against them. There are a couple documented cases of marriage, such as Ki Adi Mundi, that tall headed jedi that sits next to Yoda, but that was permissible by the Jedi only because his species was on the brink of extinction. The point being, if a Jedi has someone close to them, that person could be used against them as a hostage, or even worse, a temptation of loss thru the darkside.

    • @r.howardlawrence3527

    We recommend that you watch episode 3 in one go, it will make you cry, but after watching the movie, if you like, it is recommended that you watch both series so that you know the panorama of that time; There's animator Genndy Tartakvosky's 2003 "Clone Wars" and Dave Filoni's 2008-2020 "Clone Wars" (both series were directed by George Lucas). The one from 2003 three is a miniseries that tells alternate stories to the event that is the "clone wars" but from a different point of view than the one from 2008, both series are masterful, but out of love and because I saw it as a child, the series of Dave Filoni from 2008 is very, very good and it overlaps a lot with the film, they make a very good development of all the characters from episode 2 to episode 3.

    • @berranari1
      @berranari1 2 роки тому

      I recommend that she watches some Clone Wars before Episode III. After episode III is too late. Watch the 2003 "Clone Wars" vol one, then some 2008 s1 and 2, maybe more, then watch vol 2 of the 2003 cartoon just before episode III. What is left of the TV series you can see after Episode III. Season 6 & 7 were made after ep III and may have spoilers for ep III.
      What about the Clone Wars CG movie? It bombed in the cinema, but it is not bad.

      Also, as a bit of background: while never stated outright it is assumed that Anakin, being so strong in the Force, constantly and passively feels both the immediate future and the emotions of others. This explains his jumping out of the speeder and his actions toward Padme. He _knew_ that the bounty hunter/assassin was going to be below him, just as he _knew_ Padme had feelings for him whatever else she said.

    Hello Jade, Wonderful reaction, and commentary. We can already see why Yoda worried about the training of Anakin. Emotions controlled Anakin's decisions. Like the prominent Jedi, arrogance clouded their vision. If you look back at Mace Windu's reaction when Qui-gon told him he thought Darth Maul was a Sith. He claimed the Sith couldn't return without the Jedi knowing. It proved that even the most powerful Jedi were not perfect and fell into the trap of arrogance. The fact that one of their own Count Dooku had kept himself hidden from their
    Jedi vision. No, you are not weak-minded 😉The fight between Yoda and Count Dooku was too short. I was troubled with how weak Obi-wan looked against Dooku. You will really enjoy the next movie. The Kaminoans themselves are not clones; but they are so preoccupied with genetic perfection that all of them are themselves genetically engineered. So yeah, there is definitely a creepy element to them. The two you meet here (Lama Su and Tawn We) are definitely cold individuals. There are slightly more “sympathetic” Kaminoans as well (notably Nala Se, introduced in The Bad Batch), but as a species they are extremely distant and calculated.

    I am so lucky, not just because they made this movie for me to enjoy but because of the casting. I saw Trainspotting in 1996, starring Ewan McGregor (Obi Wan). Also in 1996 I saw Michael Collins, starring Liam Neeson (Qui Gon) as Michael Collins. The actor that played Jango Fett is Temuera Morrison from New Zealand, he also plays all the adult Clones and is now Boba Fett. I first saw him in a NZ movie called "Once were Warriors" (1994) and then again in another NZ film "Broken English" (1996). Both very good movies, well worth watching.
    Aussie Joel Edgerton played young (uncle) Owen Lars and Aussie acting legend Jack Thompson played his dad. Padme's father and sister are also played by Australians, I'm not sure about her mum. Padme's father appears in Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, but if you don't see him in the deleted scenes from Episode II, then you wont know who he is.
    Did you know that the Prequels were made in Australia? That's why so many Australian actors are in it. Even the "death stick" kid was Matt Doran who used to be on Home & Away.
    The OT movie were shot in England with the Tatooine desert scenes being done in Tunisia.
    They even have specified "Star Wars' tourism in Tunisia. I would like to see what they have there. 😀
    Please find and watch these deleted scenes, I know you will like them. In one her sister asks her about her and Anakin.

    Back when I first watched these, I found this much better than Episode I, mostly due the silliness aimed for kids having been cut back a bit. And obviously having Sir Christopher Lee helps always. However I felt the Anakin/Padme romance was horrible for most part and young Anakin was so annoying! Those things kind of even out the scales and in its own way Episode I was more fun. Nowdays I think the order for these Prequels to be III and then usually II, followed closely by I except on certain days the other way around. :)
    Thanks for sharing the reaction, looking forward to you getting to the next part. A time skip there too, but not as large as between I and II.

      An old game now but check it out. It is fun being Jango Fett.😀I played that game back then. Wow I am old, but no where near as old as Boba Fett. I never knew he was so old.
      I also played a game called Star Wars Starfighter in which you fly a Naboo starfighter (the yellow fighters from The Phantom Menace) above Naboo and also play out the mission of protecting Padme's Royal spacecraft. It had a sequel called "Jedi Starfighter" where you used the earlier Jedi starfighter.
      But the best all round Star Wars game is Battlefront II. I have not played the new one, but I loved the original (PS2). There was a battle where all the stars went at it in Mos Eisley, Tatooine. You could play as Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Anakin Skywalker and even Darth Sidious. The new one looks as real as the movies. My favourite was Aayla Secura, she was ultra fast and had two lightsabers. Oh yeah Yoda too was in it and Chewie I think. Anakin and Vader were different characters and it was possible for them to clash. This was ok because this part of the game was for pure fun.

    See you say 'there's a darkness in Anikin" but to me it comes across as more petulance which personally i've always found unrealistic in someone living the worldly existence of a Jedi. Added to that you have to ask where is Amidala's romantic attraction to someone who acts like an angry toddler coming from? ......my personal pet theory is he was subconsciously using the force on her...I still think to this day that Lucas made an error in judgment when he retroactively made Anikin younger than he was implied to be in a new hope. I think the whole series would have been better if Anikin and Obi Wan were both older. greatly enjoying your reviews keep up the good work..

    Anakin & Padme actually got married under fake names so nobody would know!
    So since your going right into episode 3 & wont have years to study and think about the plot like some of us ill explain some things if you wish to read:
    The Clone army was commissioned around 10yrs ago by Master Sifo-Dyas for the Republic, around same time he died. Jango Fett wasnt hired by Sifo-Dyas but was instead hired by 'someone named Tyrannus' whos named by the Emperor at the end calling Dooku 'Darth Tyrannus'. So Clone Army was commisioned by or under the name of Sifo Dyas (why? there was no need for an army 10yrs ago, but coincidently are needed right now) Tyrannus (Dooku) hires Jango Fett to be the Template for the clones, we know he was given that name by the Emperor & can thus conclude he was working for him at the time. The Jedi originally didnt want to be part of the war being peacekeepers but were forced into the position by the Republic & the escalating situation/war which signifies theyr shift from serving the force, to being obligated by Politics & the Senate. From peacekeeping Monks guided by the Force, to War Generals fighting alongside an Army for the Senate.
    BTW Clone Troopers are different to Storm troopers (Storm Troopers arent clones, just standard troops)
    To clarify: Yoda taught Dooku > Qui-Gon > Kenobi > Anakin. Dooku was just as talented a Jedi as Anakin during his training & could best even some of his Masters. Dooku is considered the best Lightsaber Duelist perhaps of all time. Perhaps because of how Dooku ended up, the Prophecy of the chosen one and their own fear, they held Anakin back because they were uncertain of his future (although with good reason because of his arrogance) but also because of this Anakin felt mistrust & bitter feelings towards the Jedi.

Apparently it was very effective, because it's clear from rhe start of the movie that Anakin had been having vision of his mother being tortured for days on end.

    Dooku is a Sith Lord named Darth Tyranus, he was Qui Gon's teacher and friend, like Qui Gon, he gradually became disillusioned with the Jedi Council and after Qui Gon's death at the hands of Darth Maul, he left the order, soon after which he was recruited by Sidious as his disciple, which he needed after Maul's defeat. Dooku, with the help of his influence, pushed many systems that were disappointed in the corruption of the senate of the republic, which was collapsing under its weight, to revolt and demand independence, as a result, these systems will become a Confederation of Independent Systems or an alliance of the Separatists. Thus, the Sith have organized a war in which they control both sides, having the ability to create chaos to gain more power. Dooku suggested that Obi Wan kill Sidious just to take his place with Obi Wan as his disciple, for this is the way of the Rule of Two. The entire conflict, which lasted for several years and was called the Clone Wars, can be seen in the magnificent animated series Clone Wars, which takes place between the second and third episode
