I have huge respect for F1 drivers. Some people might assume it's just like driving a car but the amount of force their bodies have to endure is humongous. You gotta be in incredible physical shape to be a F1 driver
I remember when they did a similar reconstruction of an F1 car just being driven by Richard Hammond and full throttle what he thought was full throttle was only using about 10-15% of the cars full potential. It’s amazing the amount of power they have
G forces are Extreme Indeed. I live near Monza F1 circuit and I had the chance to drive a GT car for 2 laps. On the main straight I went from 50 to 290 kmh in 9 seconds, then back down to 60 for turn 1 in 6 seconds. In Lesmo 1 and 2 laterali G forces almost cracked my neck, and GT cars aren't even remotely as fast as F1. As soon as I got off the car I threw up my whole breakfast and I was the one driving. I can't Imagine resisting to those forces for 60 laps fighting with other drivers and talking to the engineers at the same time. Massive respect to F1 drivers.
My neighbor bought a Dodge Challenger and gave me a short ride, so I got a tiny taste of what he was talking about with the G forces. He only went through three gears and it was in traffic AND it wasn't the high end engine, it was a step below with a 5 speed manual. Unfortunately he didn't live long to really enjoy it, although I know he enjoyed did enjoy it for awhile. No he didn't wreck it, he had heart failure. Do not think the following is disrespectful in any way, it was how we were in a friendship that didn't last long enough. R. I. P. AH!
As someone who is truly blessed to own one of these cars through shear luck and hard work, I can tell you that it is quite the sensation. Unfortunately I don't have the money that most owners do so a track is a rare treat.
@carlo02116 no they can't, and I buy used tires from time trials. A local guy that was a drag racer for Harley Davidson, Gary Stroud and his painter that used to paint John Force's cars are my mechanics and geniuses. I'm not great when it comes to combustible engines so we trade resources.
@carlo02116 first and foremost know that it's a toy but not important. I've never had as much fun in it compared to laughter at a family dinner with my family!
Sam's story inspired me so much that I was planning on doing it one (when I'm rich enough) but then I realised that being 191cm tall, I litteraly can't fit into a modern F1 cockpit.
Don’t call him a normal guy, a normal guy would of stalled it before leaving the pits and if they didn’t, the car would be in a wall before you could say crash
I think the 40% brake pressure was when he was doing the test beforehand. Pretty sure in the actual corner the whole body sinking into the pedal did a lot more than 40
@@Zwodo No. The engineer was looking at the actual data from his lap and complimented him for hitting 40% brake pressure. It was from one of his actual laps.
@@thesnackbandit lol your missing the point chap, the guy in the video said he pushed the brake pedal as HARD as he could, and it was still ONLY 40% brake pressure
@@MrCharlan1 I'm not missing the point. It is essentially physically impossible to go far beyond 50% brake pressure. No matter how hard you try. It's not like if you put a bodybuilder in there and asked him to slam the brakes as hard as possible he would achieve even 70% brake pressure. It doesn't make any sense.
Not only this but also the mental strength needed to never get distracted during the 70 laps with the heat of the motor slowly cooking you Insane sport
If you ever to get the chance to get into an F1 car, I seriously recommend neck training even in the couple of weeks before hand. Just a couple of sessions of weighted neck curls and your neck will be a lot safer from the g force. The way this man was telling this Tory was quite scary. When your head is bobbling over the place and you can’t control it, that’s not exactly fun
The one thing I’d love to try is driving an F1 but my size and claustrophobia prevent me. One crew guy at an event said getting my shoulders and back in a sweat would be very difficult
Left the best part out… when he got in the pits, they were impressed with his ability to push the brakes that hard, even though it was only a fraction of how hard the professionals press the brake… hahaha

Spot on is right!
My favourite part is when he got back, they congratulated him for braking at 40%.

That is the most accurate description of what I would imagine driving an F1 car would be like.
Literally the best description ever😂🎉
Now this…is podracing!
F1 drivers would shit themself feeling the acceleration of a top fuel dragster. I've felt that force and it's amazing.
He should really talk racing with Max.
Onomatopoeic heaven
That is rad. With a long neck without doing neck exercises in prep, they can use special neck braces. Even the f1 dudes do it. Jerks
This guy, his sound effects crack me up every time.
I understood this man in every single sentence
Also 10/10 with 'em subtitles
TF accelerates 0 to 100mph in less than 0.9 seconds, second to none
This full story got me into f1😀
Whenever some says motorsport racing is not a "real" sport, show them this
Genuine car guy moments that I wish were more common place and we could all feel that thrill again
The training the F1 drivers do is crazy as well.
Are you not supposed to floor the breaks unless you absolutely need to? 😂

There should be detailed video on this. people should know how hard it is to drive at that speed.

A Plaid can do the acceleration part and its road legal!

Yeah… and an Uzi weighs a ton…
Martin Brundle would love to bump into him on the grid walk.

Is this the guy who won the the chance to drive an f1 car
Great explanation

If your car needed repair, where’d you go to? Normal mechanics probably couldn’t do it, right?

They both worked on such complicated engineering. It has been toned down so I could purchase it, I don't need 6 guys to start it.
@carlo02116 I also get rich people that are willing to rent it for track days and that covers a few laps for me.

What are the requirements for a feee lap in a F1 car on the track?
