I recently found your channel, I really like your game and you got me hooked now! It reminds me a lot of Space Engineers, I hope development is doing good for you, excited for what the next episode brings!
Thanks! For sure, those are just there for debugging and having some in world indication that things are working. The end goal is to have some sort of panel that shows the component along with information about it.
It made my day to see you're still working on this! Looks like you've gotten a lot of cool internal progress done, and the giant new ship looks great! Are you planning on having NPC crews at some point? The old ship felt maybe manageable solo, but this one is huge!
Thanks I'm glad to hear that! Yea NPC crews are definitely something I'd like to have and I'm hoping with the fact that the interiors of the ships are stationary that I should be able to make use of the existing NavMesh code to help with moving them around those spaces relatively easily too. I keep wanting to make big ships but I don't want them to feel empty, obviously this one does right now and might for a while but I've been planning out different features and trying to make sure that the 'biggest' ship should support most of them.
Yeah, Navmesh stuff should make that a bit more manageable, you've set yourself up well there, at least as far as I can tell. And I understand the temptations of scale lol, it seems so easy at first when you can just multiply the size of an object! But making it fun, interesting and maybe even alive-feeling is a whole other challenge.
@@DitherDream Yea, scale definitely invites more content. As much as I want to be more inspired by Star Trek ships, they're nearly all huge and most of the theoretical interior space isn't shown except in blueprint books.
@@alanlawrey Yeah as game devs making explorable spaces we suddenly find ourselves unable to cut corners the multi-million dollar productions can. Thankfully we don't need to be *quite* that big to get that feeling. :)
Always nice to see the progress
I agree with the other commenter, the ship interior is giving 90s Star Trek vibes and I'm here for it! Great to see you've made such progress!
Thanks! I’d love to be able to make something that really gives good Star Trek vibes overall. Got to keep looking at the production of those shows.

Thank you! Development is indeed slowly progressing.
@@alanlawrey yeah I know how it is sometimes, doing gamedev myself haha
What are you making? Do you have anything posted?
I just got this recommended and it looks so cool!
Thank you!
I'm getting some DS9 vibes from those corridors, and that's not a bad thing at all!
Thanks! Star Trek is a big inspiration and DS9 is great!
Keep at, I know it can be a slog to make a building space game (tried it), but youve got something cool here. And your devlogs for it are really good.
Thanks! Yea I've given myself a lot of work to do. I'm going to keep going.
Did you ever show off your space game somewhere?
This looks fun! If you ever need any music for the project, I would be happy to make some.
Thanks! I’ve been meaning to start thinking about the audio design of the game but there’s always so much to do.
5:01 it's got a lot of space inside of it AND OUTSIDE OF IT! badumtish
There's so much space outside of it! The system for handling large scenes here allows a couple more light years than I really need.
the auto-generated captions say “Taylor Swift dead vlog” and my lousy ass nearly spit my drink out reading it
great progress though, keep it up 👌🏼
Haha that’s pretty funny! I have been meaning to check out tweaking the captions to improve them. Thanks for the encouragement!
Looking really good!
Wonder if it's worth making the engine power indicators a bit bigger? They seemed a little small on the right
