I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the fantastic video you created on the Sony A7R5. Your in-depth review and insights were incredibly helpful and well-presented. I truly appreciate the effort and expertise that went into making such a detailed and informative video. Your content has not only helped me understand the features and capabilities of the Sony A7R5 better but has also inspired me to explore more in the world of photography. It's clear that you have a passion for what you do, and it shines through in your work. Thank you once again for providing such valuable content. I look forward to watching more of your videos in the future!
Andrew, this is an excellent video. I just purchased this camera and am new to Sony full-size cameras, so this was very helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to make this, and I look forward to viewing your other videos.

No problem! If you have any particular questions, let me know. The Fn menu setup is going to be a custom thing based on everyone's preferences/use cases anyway.

Thanks! Might be related to how your custom presets are setup? I'd try checking/changing the video settings while you're in photo mode and see if that helps.
Thanks for the in depth tutorial. Question - at 21:04 you review the focus area color. I get a white box that turns green. My understanding is that in AF-C the box white box will appear on targeted subjects the camera "thinks" you want to capture - then when you press the shutter halfway (or the AF-On button in my case) you get a green box saying its locked. Which box does this change ?
Thank you very much for this vid! Used it on my A7RV. I would be very interested in your flash settings too if you don't mind. It would be very helpful indeed.
Easiest would be to use Spot Focus or Focus Tracking to lock it on and adjust the responsiveness, or see my custom button setup in this video for what I use AF/MF hold for.

I cannot only use AEL key to toggle between AF & MF for video or circulate different AF mode for photo. I need to work with wheel and center select key to confirm the selection. Do I missed anything?
Even though the AEL button activates Focus Mode, to toggle between the options and choose one, you should still be able to use the center dial and button to choose the option - that's how I use it on my camera. Unless you're thinking of a different wheel/button.
Another great video Andrew! I’d love to see a flash related video for sure, I have invested in the Godos V1S + XProII trigger for a full TTL remote shooting capability. Good video. I'm wondering if you can customize the focus compensation dial on the a7s iii. That would be really handy. As of now even w/ the firmware update it doesn't give you the option to customize it. Am I missing something?
@@andrewsaraceni No. I misspoke. There's a dial w/ a physical lock that's defaulted to exposure compensation, but in video mode you changed it to be white balance. On your camera the menu gave you the option to change it. But on my camera it doesn't.

So what is the correct wide angle lens I can use?
@@StinnMysterious You just need to use a full frame lens and it'll work fine. e.g. Sony 16-35 f/2.8 GM, 16-35 f/4 PZ, etc.
I just do still photgraphy. Is there a way to customize the top dial/button, C1, C2, C3 to create custom settings for still shots? Like C1 for outdoor OCF shoots, C2 for instant go to studio flash settings?
Not exactly, though your best bet would be to use Memory Recall settings for that. I have a video that talks about that in more detail: ua-cam.com/video/TodA_AsjJhs/v-deo.html
My Sony A7RV only has the option for 25, 50 and 100 fps not sure if I have a setting wrong but I can’t get 24 or 60
Sounds like your using PAL vs. NTSC settings, which makes sense if you're not in North America or Japan. I talk about this and how you can change it at 45:58.
super tuto. yes, please make tutos about flash photography especially with flashes like godox V1S on-camera and xpro with off-camera flashes. mark galler... tutos often refer to Sony flashes. Please give more infos about flash Fn menus, VIEW ON/OFF and "exposure set and flash" in case we use flash.
Thanks Marc, it's on the list to tackle coming up!
Another one here who'd like to see a flash setup vidoe for the A7R V. Your videos are really helpful. Thanks for putting out such concise and useful info. 👍👍👍
No problem, Wes! And that's good to know, definitely planning on doing a flash photo settings overview video in the future.
This helped me so so much and gave me new confidence with my camera. Thank you!!!
No problem Skylar, glad to hear it helped you!
Brilliant video thanks.
I have changed the 3 letters of the files to my initials. BUT….I shoot RAW and JPEG backups at the same time (different card) and they both have the same file name. I loaded a few into a single folder and lost all the raw files as the JPEG’s wrote over them. They weren’t important photos, but I would like a solution. I have a feeling I have missed something here……..
No problem! Are your file extensions hidden? I would make sure to have those visible on your computer's OS, and if/once they are, accidentally overwriting them shouldn't be an issue.
@@andrewsaraceni thanks. Will give it a try.
Although I have the A74 I still found this a brilliant video. Thanks so much.
Thanks and no problem, Michael! There is an a7 IV video settings tutorial on my channel as well, as an FYI: ua-cam.com/video/7ZPgUREdrYg/v-deo.html
