Although this breach has been a disaster, I imagine it has also been a blessing to you with all the coverage and subscribers you are getting. Fair play to you all. I've watched some of your videos in the last year as I recently bought a boat, so I've seen the difference between then and now. Good for you guys, you do deserve it. You've certainly found your footing now and have improved as a youtuber in leaps and bounds. You'll hit that 100k in no time, I'm sure.
Glad they’ve started to slowly pump the water over and how quick it’s filling up fantastic news for your family and all the people in the boats there with you good one again today Josh
When all of this first happened I felt you were all going to be stuck there for at least a couple of months, really pleasing to see how well the people in charge have been throughout this incident. Your coverage is great Josh, daily watching for me.
Hey Josh Tim from Eastern Cape...South Africa. I also suffer from anxiety.... I find your content quite therapeutic and narrowboating has been a fascination. I was a commercial fishing Capt on the squid/ chokka/ calamari boats. Frozen at sea. Keep it up. All Of The Best. Regards Tim SA is also Mzani rainbow nation.
Another Eastern Cape Seaman here. Use to deliver sailboats internationally ;) I live just couple of kms away from the breach in Altrincham...but have a canalboat Captain job out Worsley way on the Bridgewater Canal.
Hi josh the coverage of this disaster has been absolutely brilliant glad you got the prop on in time although you have been ok you must have been thinking what happens now , it's a long time since i saw a old poclain digger on a barge.

I can’t believe how fast it goes up just with that pipe! Just shows how much water can be lost through a leak. 41.4k subs now Josh, That’s amazing too! 😆
Thanks for these frequent vlogs Josh, and Diane for the responses and Andy for keeping the car going despite the weather, a job that is never easy! You have given a whole new view of life away from the rat-race.
No petrol pump is required, just put the pipe into the canal, let it fill 100% with the water, bung doth ends with a cover then lower one end over the barrier. Un bung the pipe and away the go, A fully operating Syphon without a pump.
I came here to say exactly that :) they are making it more complicated than it should be. Although the pipes could be too heavy - but they do have that crane boat, or just rope and a few blokes pulling it !!! A knot like on a spade end fishing hook would suffice to pull the pipe up or down / depending on which way they wanted to do it. Also - funny we were all probably thinking - turn the pump on - when the guy was probably causing an injury to his shoulder.
I know it's a little early but I wanted to say this because I know I'll forget when the 22nd comes around. Happy birthday Josh, I hope you have a wonderful day 🎂 🎉🍻
Oh I really hope Josh gets to his goal. Another 60k is a tall order. We just need to keep sharing & I reckon youtube is still suggesting the channel to people as I keep getting Taylors videos come up on the right hand of the screen. Josh you make funn, interesting videos with superb drone footage & photography, you deserve to hit your goal. I was thinking what a smart guy you are, that's why you're able to bring such quality videos to us. I look forward to my updates but I'd watch anything you uploaded now! Thank you!
Water strong enough to rip through a canal embankment or simply wash a car windscreen. Whatever floats your boat as the saying goes . well done Andy for looking after the washers on the car and well done Josh for looking after all the watchers on the channel. Very entertaining big thumbs up.
Thank you for the update,,much appreciated, the yellow coat looks lovely and warm for you. All the very best to you and your family. Much appreciate everything you do
Thank you for keeping us all informed. I am across the globe, and your video documenting the breach on Jan 1st. ended up in my recommended videos. It is really interesting watching your videos, and I have learned so much about the canals and narrowboats. ❤😊
I was watching the guy trying to start the water pump. I could see the switch on the side, and I was thinking I didn't think he had turned it on. I wish I could have shouted, 'You need to turn it on.' Anyway, it's all good now.
HI Josh another very good video about the progress on the water levels, also glad your dad has fixed the car washer pump he seems to be able like most other down to earth folk put his hand to anything as you said this enables you to save money for more important items good luck and hope that you don't have any issues when your boat starts to float.
👍👍 Slow & steady is working safely, great news. The siphon is so useful, same method we use on our garden pond. Hope all continues to go well. Thanks for the update 👍👍
Just want to say your drone footage is fantastic. Sorry you. Have been stuck glad you are ok and thanks for covering the whole thing. Just shows how hard it is to look after infrastructures from the old days.
Can't believe how much the level has gone up with that pump the size of a straw in a swimming pool !!!!!!! Pretty amazing. Great update Josh, keep up this great work buddy, see you tomoz. Stay safe & warm all.
So pleased with the progress you have made over the last few weeks! Be proud of yourself! Keep up with the presentation in your videos! Looks like their workboat is dumping a fair bit of oil in the canal. Saab gearknobs are a rule to themself. I had one come off while I was driving at night on a fast road, with the spring firing it into the roof and then onto the backseat. To borrow from Clarkson, a little bit of poo came out...
Thanks Josh for another brilliant vlog, I do hope that you are starting to believe in yourself as the numbers viewing prove it, well done and fingers crossed for your goal of 100,000. Good to see Andy again too, no doubt Di is keeping warm inside and don't blame her. x

Stumbled across your vlog the night of the breach and have been avidly watching ever since. Thanks for your informative and interesting take on things. Good luck with everything dude...
I did wonder whether the siphoning flow rate would be faster than the probable leak rate at the other end. Really happy to see it going up steadily, wonder if it’ll dip during the night, if it doesn’t then brilliant.
Another great to reel Josh, really interesting who knew watching water levels rise would be so interesting...... Can't wait to see how much it rises tomorrow. Take care guys

G'day, Yay Team ! That Ignition Switch on the Water-Pump Was hilarious... I can't say I've heard a Waterpump tagged as a "Syphon Generator" before, But it's technically not wrong ; kinda thing, in that application. The Rams sit beside a River, making 3 or 5 "Klang-Thump !" Noises per minute, as they use the momentum of the 99 Downhill Litres to pump that 1 Litre up to the Tank. Not quite, "Syphoning Water Uphill..." But as near as "Damn !" Is to being swearing ; Kinda thing. Such us life, Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !
Wish I could add a picture or drawing but I can't, to syphon we need a hard hose, PVC pipe works well. Say 2" or larger. Make a U with two 90s and three straight pieces and add a ball valve to each end. With the ball valves UP fill it full of water and close the valves ...Place it over the planks with both ball valves under water... Open the ball valves and you will have a syphon. I do this all the time and it works well, Harder to prime but a 25' length of suction will do the same thing.
Really satisfying to see that siphon working. Less so to see the sunken 'Heron'. Sounds like its owner needs to take more responsibility. Anyway, wishing you luck for a getaway soon. Lol, hope you aren't still having to do updates on your 30th birthday!
Josh, Wishing You a Very Happy Birthday. From Manchester expat in Northern California. Thank You for your everyday reports about the Bridgewater breach - and I enjoyed your soggy trog around Ilfracombe earlier today/ last September, too. Keep it up - you describe situations so well ( I so miss English eloquense here) ( and good shpellink)….Please do post more. Both ongoing Bridgewater updates and your otherwise trips and travels. Again,Wishing You A Brilliant Birthday 🎂🍾💐👍🏼🫶🏼
Brilliant. "Bobbing" on your Birthday , with luck.. Your dad did FINE swapping the pumps, given the awful working conditions. . Somehow we older people never do these jobs in good Weather. Well, it limits how much we can moan about it - we need SOME enjoyment in life...................And He'll find it MUCH more fulfilling than basic Bechamels (ask Him) .😎 x
Hello, josh...its so horrible climbing out of a warm bed when its cold outside...lol he gotgot the switch on thst generator..how interesting josh you are very well educated..your voice is calming not annoying like some...keep up your hard work...ur mum and dad must be well proud of you...❤ oh yes i love your drone footage.its so sad about the silt and rubbish..its clearly poison. X
You can demonstrate the principle of syphoning quite easily. Two coke bottles, and a length of hose, mark both bottles exactly the same point, ten fill completely with water, no matter what level you raise or lower each bottle, the water will find its level where the pressure is equal. Even Romans didn't know about it, which is why they built aqueducts instead of a piped system of water. The pump is only there to ensure the pipe is expelled of water, though not strictly necessary. Thanks for the update, hopefully not long now. Ps admire anyone that's willing to get their hands dirty to save a bob or two. From previous videos your dad seems able to turn his hand proficently to most things, except woodwork lol (stern bench video), but even that turned out alright in the end.😊
The Romans knew about it. They used aqueducts for the same reason we still use them. It's cheaper and more practical in a lot of cases. Without pumps and mass produced large diameter pipe, there are not many cases where pipework makes sense.
The exit of the down stream hose should be above water for a non resistance exit, as it is they are sucking it up and have to pressure it out making it hard work for the pump ,

Exactly, it must be hard hose and NOT layflat hose. I have done it over damns to empty lakes, using all suction hose.

G'day,
Yay Team !
That Ignition Switch on the
Water-Pump
Was hilarious...
I can't say I've heard a
Waterpump tagged as a
"Syphon Generator" before,
But it's technically not wrong ; kinda thing, in that application.
I, too, grew up being taught that it's the matter of relative Air Pressure which "drives" Syphons...; but since then have seen several Boffins explaining that - once the Air is removed from the Pipe, it's actually the extra
Weight of the Water in the
Downhill side of the Pipe, falling out the bottom..., which duly "pulls" the Liquid from the Upper Reservoir up the Pipe to it's Highpoint and after that the Downhill length has more water/mass going down than the Uphill side of the Pipe.
If you feel like a really twisty sort of Gadget to think about....(?) look up a thing called a
"Hydraulic Ram"...; they use a long pipe submerged in a River or Creek which is reasonably fast flowing (running pace is good, walking speed will do...; and as the Water in the Pipe flows to match the speed of the surrounding Riverwater, the Momentum of the water moving in the Pipe amounts to a "significant" amount of Kinetic Energy..., and once a predetermined flow-rate has been reached a spring-operated automatic Flap-Valve
SUDDENLY diverts the flowing Pipeful of Water rushing downhill inside the Pipe, into a smaller diameter Pipe leading
Uphill to a Holding Tank...
Because Water cannot be compressed, the Energy of say 100 Litres of Water going 1 metre down at 10 Km/Hr over a 50 metre length of 100 mm diameter Pipe..., connected to a 25 mm Pipe will push 1 litre 4 metres vertically up the 25mm pipe, in a Pulse...
And each Pulse is held in place in the Output Pipe by one-way Flap-Valves ; and the Flow in the Drive-Pipe speeds up and is stopped in an endless series of cycles.
The Rams sit beside a River, making 3 or 5 "Klang-Thump !" Noises per minute, as they use the momentum of the 99 Downhill Litres to pump that 1 Litre up to the Tank.
Not quite,
"Syphoning Water Uphill..."
But as near as "Damn !"
Is to being swearing ;
Kinda thing.
Such us life,
Have a good one...
Stay safe.
;-p
Ciao !

The siphoning will gradually slow as the difference between levels reduces. They may have to pump to keep up the flow.
Another really interesting update, very informative. Fascinating stuff Josh.
Your dad is just being handy with a wrench comes in handy anytime he could do something yourself the better it is
Nice update.
Hello love watching you guys hope your all good and well is so good joy to watch
Thanks for the updates! I keep thinking 360p quality is on my end, lol. Stay safe and warm!
The exit of the down stream hose should be above water for a non resistance exit, as it is they are sucking it up and have to pressure it out making it hard work for the pump ,
easy when you know
happens to me i have that problem
i know the answers before they ask the question
Happy Birthday 🎉🎈🥳🎂
