I just have to say I feel like your dad has really gotten so much more comfortable being on camera since you’ve been back in Toronto. WE LOVE MITCH!! 🥹💗
This might be weird to say but I feel like in the past year I can see the progression of you becoming your best self and it’s so cool to see it all documented 🥺
I think maybe baking chicken in the oven might be more helpful, rather than doing it on stovetop. All you have to do is pop it in (can look up the exact time on Pinterest) and take it out. Stovetop relies also on instinct of when it’s done which can add more stress/anxiety (especially if you don’t make it often). Hopefully it helps when you try again in a couple years 😂
i love that you have different activities that you get into with each parent. like how you go shopping with your mom and have all these DIY projects with your dad. it's investing quality time with loved ones 🥰
I love how your dad is empowering you with his knowledge in such a loving and kind manner. He wants you to feel enabled to do anything you set your mind to.
I think when it comes to cooking chicken, the more you do it, the more confident you will feel in your ability to guage when the chicken is cooked. Eventually you will get an idea of how long it takes to cook depending on the size and cut you use. I used to get anxious cooking chicken too! You should try baking it in a cream sauce, instead of pan frying. That might make you feel less anxious because you don't have to watch over it! Just place it in the oven, set the timer and let it bake! At least you always have tofu as an alternative!
I used to be the EXACT same way with chicken. Like a unrealistic constant fear of salmonella. The thermometer helped me tremendously! I kept thinking I was seeing pink too, but after a while I just started to trust the thermometer and I’m so confident in my chicken cooking skills! Keep at it!
I’m proud of you sharing the things that stress you out. I have the same feelings with driving at the moment, and it makes me feel less alone knowing other people struggle as well. We are all just human ❤
Hey! Construction girl here. The grout cracks like that for two reasons. Not enough thinset under the tiles, or too much water mixed into the grout or when being sponged off. Since it is a table you can re-grout over with a thicker mix and a thin layer. Use your float at a angle to push it there and then just a slightly damp sponge after. One fully dry you can use a wet sponge to really get it cleaned. Love your table idea! Can't wait see it in the space.
I don't have cooking related anxieties, but I do have a loooot of medical phobias and honestly, watching you struggle through cooking that chicken gave me the push I needed to go and schedule my COVID booster vaccine (which was super anxiety-inducing to do, but also sadly unavoidable - I've been putting it off for about 2 months now and I really needed to get it done). So, if nothing else, your struggle helped someone!! Sometimes it's enough just to take that one small step! Thank you 🥺❤
I don’t have that fear when cooking so from the outside it seems like such an irrational fear. So for me it was really enlightening to see someone else’s fears and anxieties because it reminds us that everyone has different challenges and barriers, and reminds me to stay compassionate and patient with those in my life. My fears are not everyone’s and everyone’s fears are not mine ❤
“There’s always something positive to focus on and the more you focus on the good the more you’ll see” OMG I NEEDED TO HEAR THIS ❤❤ just the kick in the butt I needed to change my mindset. Thank you ☺️ love the new decor btw!
Tara, I love that you've been challenging yourself more. That's growth! Embrace it!!! Also, learn to embrace yourself. You are more capable than you think. That's for anything you try. Keep trying new things!! And keep vlogging. You never know who you're affecting. Love ya, sweetie!!! Stay warm and safe. Ya fan from Texas.😘
I just love you sweet lady. I found you the beginning of the pandemic on TikTok during the witch sagas and have been a follower ever since. Girl don’t be embarrassed about not being comfortable cooking meat. I know so many people who are the same way. If it gives you anxiety just have your parents continue to cook it for you like you have done in the past. I’m proud of you for trying to cook chicken but if it’s not something you are comfortable cooking then don’t force yourself. Btw that table is cute af good job on the daddy daughter project. Now to go Warcraft Jill’s latest vlog, thank by the way, I found her because of you and the jara vlogs are a favorite of mine.
Hey, gal! If you do decide to do the chicken again, I’d skip the pan and just bake it. I do thighs vs. breast bc it’s more forgiving. I typically bake it at 400F for 15 mins, then flip and bake for 10 more mins. Then make sure the fattest one is 165F at the centre and if not, just put it in for 5 mins at a time if it’s not at temp until it is. Then, if you want, make your own sauce and brush it on and then put it all in the oven after you turn it off to let the sauce get warm without ruining the chicken. I usually make my sauce after the midway flip! Hope this helps!
@@imtaramichelle baking is definitely easier! I ate plant based for a decade but began introducing some chicken and fish and was sooooo anxious cooking it too. You've got this!
Love your sharing your experience with cooking meat, I totally understand how you feel. What helped me feel more comfortable in the kitchen was watching beginner cooking shows like Selena’s cooking at home and just learning more about how to cook and what that looks like by videos. Also when you’re feeling brave and thinking you would like to give it a try I recommend cooking with your parents or someone you trust they know what they are doing! I never comment on videos, I always think they could care less what I think… but I have loved watching you grow these past few years and become your authentic self and hope you grow to be the women you aspire to be because you truly have impacted my view of life and i wish nothing but the best for you! Bessos 😘 from Texas!
taking the time to look for positives is what helped me most with my depression long term! of course it's not a fix all but it's so good for changing from a cup half empty to a cup half full mindset and the more you do it the more natural it becomes rather than naturally dwelling on the negative things. i know it's an annoying thing to hear and seems annoyingly simple especially when you're deep in depression but it really can help
The chicken looked pink on the inside because of the transfer of seasoning on the outside. Working with chicken used to eek me out too, but I found a system that works so it's guaranteed cooked through each time. When it's thin cuts like what you were working with, heat the pan on medium heat. When it's hot, add the chicken. Let it cook 4 minutes per side. It'll be done about perfect each time. If it's thicker chicken, then it needs to be 4-5 minutes per side. Hope this helps, it helped me once I figured it out.
Hi Tara!!! I used to be like that with chicken and just meat in general as well. A tip I have is try baking instead of cooking it on stove top! Cut it into thin pieces (or you can just buy it presliced) drizzle with oil so it doesn’t dry out and flip half way through! It’s so easy and always comes out good! I do 375 degrees for 12-15 mins on each side
Hey girlie! Maybe to help get over the fear of chicken, try a crock pot shredded chicken. That way you know it’s cooking for hours, you don’t have the anxiety watching it cook AND you can see it cooking all the way through. You could make like a creamy chicken in there for 8 hours. Love ya ❤️
I totally understand what you’re feeling about cooking chicken yourself. I went through that too. I ended up watching a ton of videos to learn how to cook chicken correctly. Now, I’m all good with it. But there’s nothing wrong if you just don’t want to do it. But thank you for being vulnerable and sharing your aversions about this because it probably helped some of your viewers know that they’re not alone.
You aren't alone! The fact that you even tried to cook the chicken is a huge step for you, it is okay you couldn't trust it, you trusted yourself enough to take more than one bit and that is a win in itself. I have OCD and struggle with similar feelings (not saying you have OCD, just that I can relate) and just remember that you didn't decide to have an issue with cooking raw meat and millions of people feel the same way. You did great with it!!!!!
Always so fun watching you and your dad doing projects together ❤️ also proud of you for trying to make the chicken, maybe make it with your mom or dad or maybe Jill next time you see her if that will make you feel less anxious about it 😅
I remember years ago when you popped up on my page with a video about "the witch" and from that moment I've been watching every single upload the day you post it. I love your vlogs, it's hard to wrap my head around the fact that I don't know you in real life. I feel like we've been friends all these years just going through life together!
Sneaky fam!!!!!! I watched this video days ago but couldn't stop thinking about that green puffer. Thank you for sharing links, you have such cute taste!
My life is in such turmoil at the moment and it’s hard to look forward lately but watching your vlogs bring me a few minutes of peace and happiness. Thanks Tara and have a happy thanksgiving.
A trick for frying chicken, when you can see the white coming through to the side that is not on the heat, flip it and cook for a further few minutes ❤
With the chicken as long as it’s white all the way through you’re 100% fine! I’ve been cooking for 10+ years and I still double check meat when I cook it so don’t stress ! The more you cook it the more you’ll get an idea of how it should look ❤ chicken is so versatile for meals so I hope you give it another chance when you’re ready !
Loving the longer vlogs and house decorating/projects!! Also for your chicken, a lot of people have cooking anxiety especially with chicken. The reason it was probably still pink looking was because the seasoning on it looked red so it will color the chicken.
Seasoned chef here. Oil pan, medium heat. Cook on one side 5 mins, flip, cook on other side 5 mins. Then poke with meat thermometer. If needed cook an extra 3 mins on each side. It will be white but juicy. If your chicken has red seasoning it may appear pink. Take that into consideration. But great job!
Whenever I get anxious with cooking anything unfamiliar to me- I always find a simple recipe or guide to follow along. Always makes me feel less scared of doing something. As for the chicken I would say a standard 3-4 mins on each side. Whenever it’s white or pink inside it means it’s good and throughly cooked. The thermometer is good also to help with knowing if it’s cooked or not. Don’t worry Tara - take your time. Don’t rush yourself to cook it. If you need help with cooking it - ask someone you know whose familiar with cooking chicken. 🤗
I have been with you since the witch problem because one day it popped randomly on my YT and I am so happy for that because you are the only UA-camr I watch consistently ❤❤❤
Obsessed with the longer vlogs! 😍 I’ve said this before but your dad is absolutely amazing! It makes me miss living close to mine! Also, tip for the chicken... try baking it next time! That’s what I learned to do because I’m similar and always think I never cook it enough when I pan fry chicken. But baking is nice cuz you just put it in the oven, forget about it, and let it do the work for you!🤗
You inspire me so much! I have been watching you ever since your neighbor witch TikToks and have loved seeing your vlogs every week since. You're doing amazing! Love You ;)
I love making creamy chicken taco soup in the crockpot. In the crock pot after 6-8 hours you shred it and then for sure know its cooked. I've always overcooked chicken and that is one of the only way that I can cook it and know its ok. Plus it's soup!
Your table looks great, and its achieving what you have built will bring more joy. Your a very lucky and hard working lass. Your chicken was cooked perfect, its because it had seasoning on it, sometimes that can make you think its not cooked. I think most people are like that cooking chicken or any kind of meat. Your vlogs are longer and more enjoyable. x
Tara, thank you for putting your chicken struggle in this vlog.. I used to be the same way and it's really so nice to see I wasn't alone! I will however give you the advice to keep going! It does get better even though it can take forever! I was so nervous the first probably 15-20 times I cooked meat and now I'm so comfortable in the kitchen I don't even use my thermometer!
Omg I just bought the exact same black bucket hat! Plus thanks for always being so transparent in your videos you are the realest person I watch on UA-cam ❤
I’m absolutely adoring these longer vlogs but when I tell you my anxiety PEAKED during this episode! LOL 😂 Between your fear of raw chicken (girl, saaame) & that clip in the store with all the porcelain mugs hanging over the edge of the shelf!! I cannot. Also, the table looks incredible! You guys did a fantastic job. It’s so rewarding doing DIY projects.
You should try adding one chicken recipe to your hello fresh, there’s such nice instructions to go with it. Then taking the temp helps and you’re good to go! I’ve been getting more comfortable with it recently!
If you ever try chicken again do it in the oven!! The stove top always stresses me out but I put it in the oven at 400 for 20 minutes and it’s good to go! The meat thermometer also really helps too!
Thank you for sharing your anxiety about the chicken and the kitchen in general. It’s ironically anxiety relieving to see other people get anxious about “small” things as well.
Your Dad is awesome so handy love seeing him in the vlogs these long vlogs are awesome on vacation in Florida for Thanksgiving watching them while on vacay
2:43-4:00 couldn’t have said it better. My best friend is constantly stuck in a negative headspace and with me being a positive person, it’s hard explaining to her that seeing the positive brings the positive and it’s so hard to get her to see it. Sent her that clip
Cooking chicken in the crock pot sooo good! Its not the best in the pan and it’s bland and not tender. I don’t share your struggle with chicken but I know if you have that much anxiety it probably isn’t worth it. I have never tried tofu and I would probably be weirded out lol. Love your vlogs!!
Totally get the chicken anxiety, especially on the stove. I started cutting my chicken into strips or cubes so it cooks a little more quickly and I always feel like it’s less likely for me to undercook it 😆 def helped my anxiety about it and I also love a good baked chicken recipe 🙌🏼
Tara~ I am the same way with meat.. freaks me out too when preparing it myself! I just can't help thinking about the poor animal.. breaks my heart 😢 So I am a tofu girl too! Love that Mitch seems more comfortable now.. he's the best dad!! Thank you for the longer vlogs & also showing us the snow, it makes my day.. sooo pretty ❤️❄️❤️
The outfit with the little green puffer is adorable!! It’s hitting summer here in Australia but that made me miss winter. That, and the snow outside! Love the table!! I want to make one. ❤ Great job! x Jenelle
THANK YOU FOR SHARING ABOUT COOKING CHICKEN!! Sincerely, I struggle with it too. I gag a lot, and like you, have that same feeling about my own cooked meat. This made me feel so much... better? about my anxiety with that too.
The whole chicken thing, i get it, i feel ya, can i just recommend maybe buying the precooked chicken strips in the bag? Or buy the rotisserie chicken and then either shred it to make other stuff, like chicken noodle soup, enchiladas, burritos, salads etc… its already cooked so you don’t have to worry about it and they’re delish!! I’m so proud of you for putting yourself out there with this, it shows growth and confidence in yourself, even if you don’t think so. Just keep trying girl!! ❤️
I'm cracking up at the bickering and your dad growling at you saying no more angles and you're like omfg relax..sounds exactly like me and my dad 🤣🤣❤️ your vlogs give me so much peace. Keep being you girl ❤️❤️❤️
I feel you on the chicken thing. I’ve worked in the food industry since I was 16 (24 now), and 3 of those years were spent dealing with raw meat and let me tell you…I still struggle!!! I can never order chicken when I go out, when I cook it I’m so religious about making sure none of my utensils touch anything/I basically burn my hands washing whatever I’ve used to handle the chicken. It’s an intense anxiety I developed as I got older from my fear of being physically sick & it can feel super debilitating and bum me out as well. But I want you to know you’re certainly not alone in it! You took a massive step by trying it out and I’m proud of you for that; it’s not an easy thing to do ❤
I completely relate to the cooking meat thing! I’m so happy when you talk about this because it makes me feel horrible when I think about how “dumb” it makes me feel. My sister makes fun of me and it makes me feel like a child that can’t do anything. I felt this whole experience so deeply 🥺🥺
Looking forward to this vlog, needed a little pick me up today. Been feeling down after a breakup/being cheated on. Thank you Tara for alway giving us a little escape and some joy in our day💕
the whole time I was watching this I was just thinking how do you stay so engaged with a task and not give up?! also you are such a Pinterest/it girl!!
Tara 😂😭 I had the same food issue my whole life (I'm 25) my first family doctor was always like "she can go vegetarian if she wants to" and I was always scolded by my family and I was always under weight and I suffered with anemia throughout my teens and I think around 22 was when I was getting into cooking and cooking videos that's when I learned that I liked it and seeing other people enjoy the things that I hated made me want to try meat again and I'm finally ALMOST not anemic and I enjoy red meat again and I enjoy cooking, it took a really long time to get here and I'm glad I'm not alone
I can 100% relate when it comes to cooking chicken! It ends up being so dry by the time I’m done cooking it cause I get paranoid LOL! You are not alone!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!!!! Hope all you Americans have a very happy thanksgiving tomorrow 🥰❤️

But baking is nice cuz you just put it in the oven, forget about it, and let it do the work for you!🤗
Tara the is so many videos lately is making my life so happy
I just thought about it while watching this video and I realized I’ve been watching you for at least 9 years. That’s so crazy! Time flys
you and your vlogs genuinely are my therapy.
You inspire me so much! I have been watching you ever since your neighbor witch TikToks and have loved seeing your vlogs every week since. You're doing amazing! Love You ;)
love the longer vlogs from you tara
I love making creamy chicken taco soup in the crockpot. In the crock pot after 6-8 hours you shred it and then for sure know its cooked. I've always overcooked chicken and that is one of the only way that I can cook it and know its ok. Plus it's soup!
Love following your vologs!! You have such an Awsome life!! ENJOY EVERY MINUTE!!!
okay but your hair this entire vlog???? GORGEOUS
I was just thinking “Today is a new Tara Michelle Video!” Perfect timing 💕 Now I have something to watch while I force myself to do laundry 🙃
Tile table is cute. I think it would've looked great with coloured grout 😍
Every blog of yours makes me smile😊. You’re such a doll❤
you should do an updated Q&A!!! also love you!!!
If you ever try chicken again do it in the oven!! The stove top always stresses me out but I put it in the oven at 400 for 20 minutes and it’s good to go! The meat thermometer also really helps too!
My favorite UA-camr ❤love you Tara!!!!
Tara! I have been loving the longer vlogs ❤️ I hope you and your family have a wonderful thanksgiving!
2:43-4:00 couldn’t have said it better. My best friend is constantly stuck in a negative headspace and with me being a positive person, it’s hard explaining to her that seeing the positive brings the positive and it’s so hard to get her to see it. Sent her that clip
LOVING the long vlogs!!!
I seriously love you Tara..you make my day over and over again..blessings on you sweet girl
You are not alone!! I am the same exact way with cooking meat. It is totally ok and there are so many alternative ways to eat!
Can I say your skin is looking gorgeous! Love Advanced Night Repair!
love your jacket collection.
the side table is so beautiful.. love it!!!
Loving the 30 minute vlogs Tara!
I'm cracking up at the bickering and your dad growling at you saying no more angles and you're like omfg relax..sounds exactly like me and my dad 🤣🤣❤️ your vlogs give me so much peace. Keep being you girl ❤️❤️❤️
i love the somewhat long vlogs because it is like my safe space! much love tara❤️❤️
That lip color is soooo prettyy!!!!
im obsessed!!!!!
Looking forward to this vlog, needed a little pick me up today. Been feeling down after a breakup/being cheated on. Thank you Tara for alway giving us a little escape and some joy in our day💕
And just like that, Tara’s on time for my lunch break ❤ my week’s gotten a lot better btw 😊
Best way to start each day!
TARA! You can totally take transparent caulk and go over the cracks with that
I have the exact same anxiety around chicken specifically! So good to know I am not the only one!
the whole time I was watching this I was just thinking how do you stay so engaged with a task and not give up?! also you are such a Pinterest/it girl!!
