Sviatoslav Richter. Rachmaninoff Études-Tableaux op. 33: ua-cam.com/video/allKlvd1AOA/v-deo.html 00:00 No. 1 in C minor - Allegro agitato 02:59 No. 2 in A minor - Lento Assai (“The Sea and the Seagulls”) 10:02 No.3 in F sharp minor - Allegro molto 12:53 No. 4 in B minor - Allegro assai 16:32 No. 7 in C minor - Lento 23:34 No. 9 in D major - Allegro moderato. Tempo di marchia.
I always thought his interpretation of the F sharp minor Study was special. He slowed down in old age, but the amount of detail is still astonishing. His pulse and articulation were always immaculate. One truly see‘s the influence Rachmaninoff had on Prokof‘ev in this study. Which Richter always pointed out, much to the dismay of Prokof‘ev
Agreed! Also check out the phenomenal recording from young Evgeny Kissin of op. 39 (a slightly different selection): ua-cam.com/video/gtB10s5sSao/v-deo.html

Klar strukturiert und mit wenig Pedal. Genial und spannend. Eine Sternstunde. Bravo.
