As an American who has been living abroad for the past 25 years in Brazil, I'm very sorry you had to deal with what you did. It's an unfortunate situation and one I've been in very few times, thankfully. After seeing how some American tourists acted here, I quickly learned to assimilate and respect the culture and learn the language and blend in as much as possible. The vast majority of people I've met while traveling all over Brazil have been very warm and welcoming because I go out of my way to speak the language and show the utmost respect to everyone. It's unfortunate but understandable that Americans are looked down upon abroad for various reasons and I'm very sorry you were mistaken for one and that it almost resulted in a fight. While I imagine you can handle yourself just fine in a fight, it shows awesome restraint on your part that you avoided the situation. Kudos to you for doing so and again, I'm very sorry about what happened to you.

Absolutely enjoy your travels in Italy. Brings back some wonderful memories. I spent a year there back in "75" while with the Air Force. Beautiful country, friendly folks and great food. Traveled all over by train and bus. Would love to go back! Truly sorry you experienced such a traumatic incident, but you guys have proven resilient and seem to move on with your typical positive attitude. Just glad that you, Nala & Leona are safe together - and enjoying new sights on the road. Lake Garda is BEAUTIFUL. Such a lovely video of you Dean, Nala and Leona. Nala is absolutely adorable in the car, sitting on the front dashboard, preening her face! So relaxed, so happy. Thank you for brightening up a cloudy and rainy day today in the Southeast US!❤️
That's so sweet of you make sure Leona's trip is safe and fun! As a woman I've done a lot of solo traveling the past five years without any issues at all, but on my last trip had some very unpleasant things happen--violently mugged and left bruised and bleeding (they wanted my bag under my coat so they slammed me to the ground and ripped off my coat), groped while sleeping on an overnight train, and an act of voyeurism in a hostel which led to an ongoing criminal investigation. I'd been all over Asia, Central Asia, Central America, etc without any issues, but it was a trip to Europe that made me feel violated and scared. That was a couple years ago (just before the pandemic), and I haven't worked up the courage to solo travel again. I've found a boyfriend with similar interests, so we travel together now. I'll work up the courage to go on solo trips in the future, but for now it's so nice to feel safe and secure around him. And the companionship is a plus too!
As sorry as i am for what was done to you, it clearly shows, there is no safe and unsafe countries for travelling. I heard so many times, i wouldn't go there, it is not safe and i would say, it can happen right here in our city where you lived your whole life.... I have known quite a few girls who travelled through India by themselves and they all had basically good experiences and when some asshole couldn't stop staring or would even start touching, on a bus non the less, she would slap him across his stupid face and that would do it. That is something they aren't used to and it totally destroys their "concept". Well, you still never know of course, even i had some pretty scary and highly unpleasant encounters, alone on a bus in the middle of the night in New Delhi and the two guys all of a sudden try to extort money from me or they wouldn't drive me to the airport is one thing that came to mind, they really didn't look like the kind of guys you could talk or argue with so i flipped the cards and then it was me who became tough and aggressive...ended up getting out and they left, and i could even see the planes landing and so i wasn't too far from my destination. Anyway, you never know and bad things can happen anywhere. I am so glad you feel safe with your boyfriend and i'm sure you'll find your courage again! I don't even know what to say about such "men" who get off by hurting or intimidating girls and women or other men whom they perceive as weaker..... Enjoy your future travels and adventures, that's the important thing, to not let those weak, pathetic pieces of garbage win!

Nala is amazing. The most well travelled cat ever. I love revisiting places I saw in 2003. Venice was wonderful (but a bit smelly). It is terrible when you get scared in a foreign country. We were in the French alps once and stopped at a small mountain town. Some of the shopkeepers had Americans not welcome in the window. A bit scary. Love travelling with you guys. 🥰

You will love Venice it’s a beautiful city I went there in Spring 1988 the gondola rides around the canals are amazing 🤩 . Nala's trying to take everything in so cute😍.
That’s nice 😊 to have some luxury driving a BMW around the country after that awful incident at the restaurant.
Hey I was also in Venice May 1988 for my 25th Birthday whilst traveling Europe for 3 months solo from Australia
Dear Dean & Nala, this was one of your greatest Adventures, everything in it from pleasant gondola rides, which was very soothing, relaxing, new places to stay.... The encounter with the crazy...
came from where dark & fire can come into
everybody's life in their lifetime.. I think you handle it well! Sometimes when you engage with a crazy they get crazier that's just what they want ... Ignore them walk away is the best alternative ...In my youth I thought it was better to fight it does land you in a lot of trouble.. You took another direction got into car with your beautiful assistant & Nala.. Enjoyed what you started out to enjoy ...Without further interruptions ...I watched this three times now it was so pleasant! Please be safe ...I think you have extra Angels surrounding & projecting you and, the wee Nala... I Love you both!❤ Prayers always..South Dakota USA ❤🙏🐈 🚵♂️
🐾🐾Wow, les yeux de Nala qui découvrent Venise. 😸💕. Take care, hello from Québec 🇨🇦xx Merci 🐾🐾
Loved when Nala was in the carrier, leaning into Dean's hand, as he pet her.
A cat and her man in a gondola .... just beautiful !
Had been checking throughout the day for the next video and I was rewarded to see no 73 pop up. Loved the train ride and Nala’s new cat carrier. As Nala was all eyes and interested in travelling to Venice. It seemed like I was travelling with you, particularly on the gondola. Always fancied visiting Venice years ago and now I have through yours and Nala’s eyes. Perfectly delightful video. Will watch again and again. Shame you got hassled by that delusional individual. What a nice gentleman you are Dean to change your plans so your friend would feel safe in not travelling alone. Can’t get over how large Nala’s eyes widens when she sees something that surprises or interests her. Take care, all the best in your travels 😍🌷❤️💕💕💕💕
Oh i remember this so well . Must get back this yr.
Oh I envy Nala in this one. Beautiful Venice, beautiful canal
And the music so perfect too. This is the second or third time I've watched this one.
The look on Nala's face during the gondola ride was priceless. She certainly seemed to enjoy the car ride. It was nice to see both of them reveling at the New Year's party. And the addition of the young lady makes it a congenial trio.
Nala takes everything in and is a true observer of life and all here surroundings!
I loved seeing you enjoying my town! Venice was full of cats when I was a child. And Venetians loved their cats 🥰😻
Aww I love the travel carrier, Nala looks so safe and protected in it💜
Love the glittery nails Dean, sorry you had to experience that. Try to put it out of your mind and don't let him spoil your memories of Venice. Stay vigilant.
Nala on the dashboard cleaning her "murder mittens" is the show stopper!!!
"Murder mittens"🙂💚 I had never heard that expression B4 I had 2 beautiful, sweet cats 4 twenty years and YES my tigress & tiger had murder mittens 😁
Hint for Dean: Nala loves the comfort of the car!!
I have 15 rescue cats. All of us are watching.
That's so nice! Greetings from Finland Helsinki 🇫🇮!
Nala has the best life. May it be very long, healthy full of joy and happy travels💕
Sweety Nala❤️❤️
I am sorry for the bad moment. I hope yyou both good memories in the next days!
Nala in her box, on a Gondola and travelling like a queen with Dean. Absolutely beautiful. You are truly blessed Dean.
Nala riding in a gondola on the canals of Venice: PRICELESS!
Fab video of you enjoying yourselves, Venice and lake come look absolutely beautiful. Such a shame about the restaurant incident, don’t allow it to spoil things,. You are doing wonderful things,
A personal thanks to Leona for ensuring we all received our calendars, which is fab. Great work Leona, enjoy your trip.
Stay safe out there love you all 🥰😻❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for looking out for L.... Wish everyone were as accomodating and thoughtful. The world would be such a beautiful place. And, the car rental switched up your plans... making things very interesting and unexpected. Wonderful vlog.
I hope the gentleman with apparent mental health issues, gets the help he needs to ensure he does not become a danger to himself or any other person. 🙏🏼💛
Dean and Nala enjoy your trip! Nala in the gondola is awesome. Italy is a beautiful country, take care and have fun! 🇮🇹🐱🚲🚗💟💞
I love the way Nala sits on the windscreen board as she does in her basket on the bike, grooming herself. She’s so adaptable to any kind of surroundings even if she seemed a bit puzzled in the gondola. ❤️ 🐈 🎭 🎊
Nala can write a travel guide !
😂 That's true, by the way! 😂😅🤣
Miaussss agreed, hehehe.
😂😂😇So cute @5:09 - Nala standing, looking out the boat all curious
