It's called "entry level ", by many people, however, in my case it's "exit level ". Have had big bikes my whole life and was tired of handling these behemoths . Picked up a 2020 iron 883 recently and absolutely love it. So easy to maneuver and flick about. Should have done this years ago! Older bikers will also love this thing and,in my opinion, the best looking Harley, albeit,on a smaller scale. Plenty of power for cruising.Enjoy your new ride my dear!!! I am.

Starter scoot was an '86 Limited Edition 250 Rebel Honda. Good dependable ride & EZ 2 handle. It didn't sound like an outboard boat motor. 63 miles to a gallon of cheap gas. 92 miles on preme 93 octane. Very inexpensive 2 operate & maintain !

I’m very happy for you! My first bike was an 883. I was 21 when I got it, I’m 23 now. I self taught myself on the 883. The first time I rode a bike was the 883 off the lot lol. I Love and Miss my 883. It taught me so so much! Highly customizable.

I think that's the deal with Polaris Indian motorcycles too. They are targeting Harley and their Road Glide with that refined challenger thing. I've tried both. The challenger is a nice bike no doubt with all the edges smoothed out. But I think those edges are what give the road glide it's personality and that might be why I still like it better.

If you love the Iron 883, look up the 48 roadster 1200. Definitely would suit your style. Almost the same seat height as the Iron but a boatload more power! Have to agree with you when you described the "feeling." It's almost as if the bike comes alive. That "feeling" never goes away!

I think the main difference between a Harley and any other bike is the lower rpm of the Harley makes it a very relaxing ride. Most others bikes rev higher and makes them a very high strung ride. I've owned Harley big twins and the 883 Sportster is the most fun to ride of any Harley. Ride safely and enjoy every journey.

My father and uncle always rode sportsters so when i finally decided to buy a bike, the 883 was my first bike. Took me 2 hrs to make the 7 mile trip home cuz i never really rode at highway speeds around town... im 6' 1" and could use some forward controls but, wouldnt trade my bike for anything. Love the minimalist style of the 883 over the lack of comfort. Plan to take it on a 600+ mile cruise to georgia with atleast a forward control mod. Will update late june after the ride.

Good morning Jackie, glad to see you are experiencing different bikes. Don't be afraid of a little rpm's give it a little gas, the bike will only take off as fast as you let out the clutch. Control the take off with the clutch and friction zone. The bike and you will be more stable and less likely wanting to stall. You are doing great, keep up the good work. You are so right the Sportsters are so old school technology. Some like that some don't. Thanks for the video's

listen to this guy. every time you go from stopped/crawl to taking off you should be able to hear it through the revs. not redlining ofcourse, but also not starving the throttle. especially when you're taking off in a turn it's much better, smoother and safer to take off with more throttle than you think you need. just practice your precision on the clutch and don't be afraid to take some extra throttle.

Two other Sporties have made their way to me , along with eight big twins . No such thing as a girls bike , or beginner bike , my little sisters first bike was a new 2008 Softail Deluxe , with factory custom paint , a numbered set . Ride what fits you , what pleases you , have fun , be proud , but be safe . I'd like to see you wearing boots , my only critique . Great vlog .

So cool to see how psyched you are about the 883! I agree with you: it's a great beginner bike. Not too much power where you'll be flinging yourself around wildly, but also good on the low end (torque), so it takes off nicely and accelerates well. High end speed isn't crazy but I take my 883 on the highway all the time. It's very nimble as well, so I would take some time doing slow-speed maneuvers like u-turns and those cone-weaving drills to instill confidence and getting used to how the bike handles (getting used to the top-heaviness too, which I agree with). Mid controls are nice for that as well. Just wait until you start perusing parts online. I'm talking hours into days, days into weeks, Jackie. Lol. Lastly, I'm a dude and clearly enjoy my 883. So, if it's a girl bike, then I love my girl bike. #rockon #ridesafe

p.s. neutral is literally like the lightest flick of your toe (down or up, depending on which gear you're in). you'll get it. it's just annoying when you stop at traffic lights because sometimes it's just easier to hold in the clutch and wait for the light to turn.

And you just discovered why so many people ride and love Harley’s. It has nothing to do with the spec sheet and everything to do with how the bike feels and sounds and how fun they are to ride.

Hope you enjoy the bike, if you notice the vibrations get bad at certain engine revs it is because the crankshaft is not balanced correctly for the piston weights. It does not get any better on 1200's either but there is a way to lessen the vibes, and that is by using a 1250 kit from Hammer Performance - the pistons are the right weight, check it out on their site Hammerperf.com. These kits are not cheap and to get the most from them you have to modify the heads as well - all this costs money though and a good way to lower engine revs for any given speed is to fit a bigger trans sprocket. These are quite cheap and as you are so petite it won't affect the acceleration so much. Just enter 883sportster.com in your search engine when you are ready. Take care.....

The Dyna for you is the Low Rider. When you’re ready, that’s a pretty big leap from an 883. Yes, a Dyna wants to GO! NOW! And you could easily pick up your 883. I’m super impressed by you, all smitten with that Harley mystique and feel. I can hear that huge grin in your words 😀

You can turn that into a cafe racer style pretty easily. The one nice thing with the 883 is you can drop in a hammer performance 1275cc kit without much fuss if you ever want more power. I have a sportster 1200 and I love it. It is the second one I have owned.

My first bike was an 883. Got it when I was 19 and I loved it. I have a 2014 slim now and it is such a great bike. Highly recommend you give one a test ride. Yeah and getting into neutral on a harley takes a bit of getting use to.

You said you are 5'5"? You look much taller in the video. The Iron 883 looks too small for you. I mean, you'll probably outgrow it fast if you ride a lot. Still a good first bike, fun to ride, and they're very versatile.
I started riding at 52 year's old and bought a 2009 XL1200 C Sportster for my first. I love it. I'm 5'3" (without my boots) and didn't like having to tippy toe at stops so I installed a Burley Slammer kit. That lowered it to about the height of the 883. As a new rider that was important.
Now that I have some experience I'm ready for a bigger bike and I don't care if I tippy-toe.
As far as Sportsters being top heavy...yeah that is true. Think of the physics of a softball with a hole all the way through it. Now slide it on to a stick then sling it. That's what happens if you tip your Sportster. You can guess how I know that. ;)

I have watched tons of videos about this bike and read 5x as many comments about it and of everyone who has actually “owned “ the bike, I’ve only seen 1 negative comment so far! That’s people who own it and ride it and have experience with it. When I say negative I mean they hated it and got rid of it. And his reasoning for it was that his buddies ragged him so hard for riding a “chicks” bike. 🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe time for new buddies and keep the bike? I LOVE mine!

Love the iron 883 great bike fun to ride😎. I have the 2011 iron matte black love the looks and handles decent. The fun factor makes up for the smaller engine displacement then other Harley’s in the soft tail line up but you can always do a conversion kit if wanting extra power. Lots of mod options for the Sportster line up if you start getting bored many options for upgrading them lots of aftermarket available which is great 😁

In many countries - Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia etc the majority ride on 125cc scooters such as a Honda Wave. you can literally tour the ENTIRE country in places like Laos or Vietnam on a 125cc motorcycle or ride scooter and on fast roads 80km/h.. 800cc is a large displacement bigbike for most of Asia by comparison - and would not be considered a “girls bike” out there. In fact Laos has banned all motorcycles above 250cc as they consider them too powerful!

Clunky shifter? I have a Sporty also and I've heard MCrider talk about how to avoid that. Apply a bit of pressure on the shifter before you pull in or push down the clutch. It really reduces that clunckyness. I love my old Sportster, it's my first bike and I needed no time to get used to it. We just clicked! I test rode an Iron 883 and it was so great to me I instantly decided to by a Sportster, had no money for Iron, so I bought a '94 XL Sportster 🧡

Sportster is a classic Harley-Davidson. It's been here for a long time, since the '80s at least. Long live America, and long live Harley-Davidson. If environmentalists had their way, they'd ban motorcycles altogether. The congress representative for Queens and the Bronx, NY wants just that. If more women take it to the motorcycles, they might change their tone. :) Thank you very much.

Be careful on that bike Jackie ... there's a mad hooligan out on the streets who is known for his crazy 12 o'clock wheelies & jumping off garage roofs, so you never know when he might just bump into you. I've heard that he's a really nice guy, so he's probably harmless :)
