The red headed prince was not ‘robbed’ of his place in line for the throne. It goes to the eldest child and their eldest child. The red headed prince was the second son so was always going to be succeeded by his elder brother’s children.

It's not crazy at all......it's called RESPECT. The Queen was probably THE most respected Head of State in the World. At age 21, she made a promise, and for 70 years.....that's 70 YEARS.......she kept that promise. How many leaders, politicians have ever kept a promise for 7 days let alone 70 years. Whether you are a royalist or not, you simply have to Respect Queen Elizabeth II for her duty and service. Rest in Peace Ma'am, and thank-you for your service.

I got so peed off that his go-to descriptive word throughout was "crazy". Seriously!! Wonder how he'd feel if one went around to dinner at his house and labelled it, and the way they live, & what they ate, "crazy"? People who have different traditions, history, contemporary life aren't mentally challenged, (crazy) fgs! They're simply different - which is one of the great joys of living on this tiny planet: we're taught to reserve judging others until we've learnt how and why they do the things they do.
And also - c'mon man, the word anyone over 5 uses about cremation is...well..."cremation". When, for example, the Queens sister, Princess Margaret died we didn't say "Oh hey, to-day's the day we burn the Queen's sister!" We said "Oh, to-day Princess Margaret is to be cremated."
But the fact that Ajibu had no idea that the Monarch is also the Head of the Church of England, since around 500 years ago, knocked me for six! So am guessing he also doesn't know Queen Elizabeth was the most famous woman in the world when she died. And as well as being the Head of the Church of England (or Anglican Church), she was also the Head of the armed forces...in fact she served in WWII.
And no, of course burying people in churches is not new. For around 1,000 years (yeah that's one thousand years ago), it's been the way monarchs, people of status, and those who have served their country in an extraordinary way are honoured. And don't forget that the ground floor of large Churches, Abbeys, cathedrals is actually the second floor. The crypt, where hundreds of people are buried, is sometimes an ossuary, which means that only the bones rest there.
But...too much "Glory"? What does that even mean? Too many people loved her, respected her, admired her and wanted to pay their last respects to her? As others have said: it's called "respect" . Respect is why it was such a world-wide event, respect is why so many of the crowds were in tears, respect is what those who will study her reign in years to come will come to have for her.

The Queen was being honoured for 70 years of service, not power over, to her country and the Commonwealth! HMTQ deserved and earned this tribute. Personally, I was deeply saddened when HMTQ passed. All the jewels are owned by the State, held by the nation for hundreds of years to be bestowed to our monarch during their reign.
P.S. I have to remind myself that many countries do not have the relationship with HMTQ that we have. Our jubilee celebrations, the Queen giving her annual speech to us at Christmas, the messages to us in difficult times from WW2 to Covid lockdowns or visiting a hospital, school or honouring our fallen in conflicts around the world. Our Queen was always there.

    Hi,
No the service wasn’t Catholic, the queen was the head of the British armed forces and she was the head of the Church of England which is what Westminster Abbey is. England used to be Catholic but King Henry VIII broke away from Rome and the Catholic Church in 1536 and closed down all the Abbeys and Monastery’s then declaring himself supreme head of the church, the Church of England is Protestant. To understand why this is so big you need to look at a few videos of the queens life. King Charles is now the news king and his wife is now Queen consort, meaning Queen by marriage only. No the crown won’t be buried with the queen, it now goes to be redesigned and resized ready for the kings coronation. The whole country got the day off for this. The orb represents the world and the cross on the top of it is to represent Christ’s dominion over the world. The Crown Jewels are actually priceless, no one can put a value on them, they are so heavily guarded at the Tower of London, they can’t get insurance for them as they are priceless. Yes they are buried inside in the royal vault. They are in lead lined coffins so the body doesn’t decay and decompose. The queens funeral has been in the planning since she came to the throne. Prince sherry wasn’t robbed of his place, that’s just what happens, the Riyal line passes down to the eldest child of that line. If Prince William didn’t have children the Harry would still be second in line but Harry also quit as a working royal cutting himself out of the line of succession. They were just showing the procession in to Windsor castle but yes she was already buried.

Did "some unknown guy" give his entire life to service to dozens of countries as their head of state and dozens more as head of an international organization, all for no salary, with no reitremnet, subject to rules the rest of us aren't, and constantly in the global spotlight, every moment of joy and grief made into a watched event? Many Americans--many "younger" ones, in particular (I put "younger" in quotes as I'm not that old myself); not exclusively younger ones, but perhaps predominatnlty younger ones--struggle with the idea of giving to others without gaining something in return. The Duchess of Sussex is an example of the segment of the population that wants for themselves; their feelings matter most; it's "their truth"; she wants her reward and always considers herself a victim when she doesn't get it. The late Queen, on the other hand, never demanded anything, never complained--not publicly, anyway--never condescended, never quit and stomped off in a pique, even though she wasn't born to be queen, the job falling to her only because of the choice her uncle made in 1936. She just took what life threw at her and got on with it, starting in the Second World War and ending in 2022. _That_ deserves recognition,
On top of that, she served for so long and for so many countries, she had 179 prime ministers. She also paid state visits to probably 70% of the world's countries and received visiting heads of state from as many. She met other monarchs and their families; presidents past and present; presidents' prime ministers, ambassadors and high commissioners, not to mention she was head of dozens of militaries and appointed probably hundreds of commanding officers. Then she was patron to some 600 charities and organizations. So, _that's_ why so many showed up to her funeral.
And, lastly, as queen, she was the personification of the state. Well, many states. But, only one could bury her. So, while the individual who just finished her time as queen deserved great respect and recognition, for the reasons described above, the pageantry, symbolism, and choreography are signs of respect for the position--the office--of monarch, and, through it, the nation, not the mere human who occupied it. Elizabeth understood that, which is why she remained humble as queen; she knew her station as queen was bigger than her as an individual.
Princess Anne is Elizabeth II's only daughter. Prince Harry got robbed ot nothing; his brother's children and, eventually, his children's children, were always going to push The Duke of Sussex down in the line of succession; look at where Princes Andrew and Edward and Princess Anne are now versus where they were before Charles had children. Mike Tindall, the husband of Princess Anne's daughter, shaves his head. Elizabeth's coffin was not brought back up after it descended into the vault. And what necklace is it you keep referring to? There is no state necklace in the Crown Jewels.

Monarchs in England are not allowed to be roman catholics. Until recently, they were not even allowed to be married to a catholic.

She devoted herself to duty and service from beginning to end without ever wavering, and lived her life according to her Christian beliefs and values. I understand it may be hard for people from different countries and cultures to fully understand and appreciate it; maybe it needs to be part of your heritage to really feel the enormity of this occasion. For most of us, she was already Queen before we were born and it almost felt like she was the mother of the nation, people would drop everything on Christmas Day to tune in to her annual speech. For most Brits, and in fact for most of the world, she was the only Queen they knew. For the Brits, she was like the nations mum. She'd been the rock of stability, a solid foundation to hold them all steady when politics, wars, terrorism, and even pandemics swept the world and the UK. She meant the world to them, and this honourable send-off was thoroughly well--deserved. The UK is a Christian Protestant nation, and the monarch is the head of the Church of England. The bearer party were from the Queens Company 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, they are serving soldiers, and she was carried on the state gun carriage that was used in ever state funeral since HM Queen Victoria in 1901. Pulled by sailors of the Royal Navy
The funeral took place in Westminster Abbey, and then the committal service took place in St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Where she was interred with HRH The Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The guy reading out the late Queens titles at the end was the Gater King of Arms, chief herald and head of the college of arms.
The state regalia which was on top of the coffin, was the Sovereigns Sceptre, the symbol of her authority, the gold ball is the sovereigns Orb, which represents Christs dominion over the world, and the Imperial State Crown. You have to remember the tradition here to understand it better, She received them all at her coronation, after she had been anointed before god by the Archbishop of Canterbury, they were removed from her coffin and placed onto the high alter before her coffin was lowered into the vault. This symbolises 3 things 1 you come into the world with nothing and leave with nothing, 2 the symbolic end of her reign, and 3 they were taken from one anointed sovereign to be given back to god (placed on the high alter) to then be given (from the high altar symbolising being given from god) to the next anointed sovereign, HM King Charles III will receive them at his coronation (which will take place probably next year) after he has been anointed.
He will be crowned with the St Edwards Crown (it’s used only once to crown the monarch, the last time it was used was 1953) and then later in the coronation ceremony he will swap it for the imperial state crown seen here

The line of succession to the throne has always gone downwards, so from eldest son to eldest grandson or now first born son or daughter since they changed the rules in 2011 to allow daughters to have the same status in line. Harry is Charles second born son so was never likely to be monarch. He is now fifth in line behind his older brother William and William’s 3 children.

    1. The Crown, which dates back to the 15th century, the Orb & Sceptre are not buried with the Queen, they are transferred to her heir (the next monarch), namely Charles 111.
    2. The lady who you said “looks like the Queen’s daughter” is Camilla, King Charles’ wife, now Queen Camilla.
    3. The Orb symbolises the Christian world with its cross mounted on a globe, and the bands of jewels dividing it up into three sections represent the three continents known in medieval times.
    4. The red headed prince ( Prince Harry) was not “pushed back” he’s now 5th in line to the thrown. The line is:- King Charles & his heir apparent Prince William & his children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are all before Prince Harry.
    5. There is nothing scary about this. USA has state funerals for your Presidents, where heads of state, Kings & Queens. The UK’s state funerals are merely the result of 1000 years of tradition.
    6. It was not a Catholic funeral, it was a Christian funeral.
    7. I know you did your best to present this solemn occasion but a bit of research beforehand may have helped.
    8. Queen Elizabeth was much loved & respected. In the words of President Kennedy “Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country” Queen Elizabeth upheld that request for over 70 years.

My only other observation is that whilst I do understand that you are seeing things you have never had any consideration of previously, I do find it sad that knowledge of the world is so lacking egThe Queen was head of the Protestant Church of England, not Catholic. However, your reaction was very respectful and thank you for that.

I get your point about all the important people being there. But of the 2,000 in Westminster Abbey, 200 were chosen from those who'd received awards from the Queen at the last gift of Honours. These awards are often given to very ordinary people who've done something very good. And a lot of people who worked for her - all over the country - were in St George's Chapel.
In the UK, we deliberately separate the glory and the pomp from the real power. Although the Queen had a lot of theoretical power, politicians, like the Prime Minister, have the real power.
(And they haven't done very well recently! Boris Johnson had to resign for telling too many lies, whilst Liz Truss hadn't been in power for more than a few days when her Government made such a disastrous Budget that it caused a drop in the value of the pound.)
The Queen handled her ceremonial role very well over her long life, and she wasn't out for power. She therefore got a lot of respect from world leaders.
Two of the largest cut diamonds in the world were on the coffin: Star of Africa No 1 forms most of the head of the Royal Sceptre, and Star of Africa No 2 is in the front of the Imperial State Crown. The Orb signifies Christ's dominion over the world.

The gun carriage bearing the body is the same one used for the Queen's great great grandmother, Queen Victoria, for her funeral in 1901!
I should imagine it was used for the funerals of the monarchs in between too.
EDIT: But not, it would seem to me for her successor Edward VII in 1910, if the grainy film footage of that occasion is anything to go by: at least, there are no signs of the gun carriage they were using being pulled by naval ratings rather than horses. Wikipedia disagrees, however.

The British monarchy has been Protestant since the time of Henry 8th ( 16th century) although a few monarchs after that have been Catholic. However over time all religions are respected in Britain with the monarch holding the title ‘Defender of the faith’ and this has been adapted to suit all religions rather than just the Protestant faith.
Boris Johnson stood down as Prime Minister in June due to his disastrous and disrespectful behaviour while in power. He failed to lockdown sooner in the pandemic which claimed 10’s of 1000’s of lives, he attended illegal parties while in lockdown and denied it, he defended MP’s who were accused of sexual misconduct, he lied to the Queen herself about Parliamentary matters and while the Queen sat alone at her husbands funeral last year the Tories were partying away the night before and he didn’t think it was a problem. He is a blonde bumbling buffoon who didn’t deserve his position. Liz Truss is the new PM and she is just as worse!
It may be a life of glory but it’s also a very lonely life with your every move scrutinised and reviewed. The crown , orb and sceptre on the coffin are symbols of royalty and leadership not personally owned by the monarch. This crown is what is worn at the state opening of Parliament and what the monarch wears when they leave their coronation although they are crowned with another one during the ceremony, which is heavier and quite difficult to wear.

In other words she stood forefront of the World diplomatic stage for 7 decades!
The UK is a Christian national, but not Roman Catholic. The monarch is Governor of the Church of England and head of the Church of Scotland.
She was an important international figure, monarch of the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and various other states, so her death and funeral were a huge deal.

"It feels like a god is being buried"
That's exactly what it is. The Monarch is seen basically as Jesus-lite, appointed directly by god. Even though we're a secular country now, that's the basis - I don't even believe in god but everything about this, from the Cathedrals to the reversed guns fires up something inside us, this hits us on the collective level because there's all our history here. Thank you for your respect.

The Sceptre: the emblem of Kingly power and justice - that the Monarch is to uphold and defend the laws, to enact justice for all. The Orb of the World under the Cross - the emblem and sign that the whole world is subject to the power and empire of Christ our Redeemer; that he is the King of Kings, and to remind the Monarch of the UK that they are subject to him. The Crown is the Emblem of headship and rule, and to bless the monarch with all princely virtues.

The Queen was head of the Anglican church which is protestant, we haven't been a Catholic country since Henry VIII, more than 400 years ago. The Queen had one daughter Anne she's the one in uniform, the other is King Charles's wife Camilla the Queen Consort. The Orb symbolizes the world under Christ's jurisdiction. I think you are seeing all this in the wrong order, remember there were two services, she was lowered into the tomb at the family service. I was there and saw her on the gun carriage accompanied by troops from the UK and Crown Nations. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were at the front with the Metropolitan Police. The Gurkha's were there as were troops from Australia and New Zealand. Also dignitaries from the Commonwealth. It was an amazing day, so many good people came out to show respect for a life time of service. God bless the Queen, God save the King.
