  • After a fantastic week of fun in the Bahamas, it was time to head back to the states. Most of our crew had already left but a few of us stayed for a couple of extra days. Come along with us as the last 6 skis head back to Ft. Lauderdale.

    Are you guys repeating this trip on 2024? I truly enjoy this video and almost felt like I was riding along you guys.

      The group that I rode with does the trip every year. I believe they are doing it in July this year. You can find them on FB. Just look for Gulf Streamers. They are a great bunch of folks

    Looks like it was a great time for everyone. Glad you made it home safely. I just closed last weekend on a 2000 Sea Ray Sundancer 340 so I am back on the water after being boatless for 3 months.

    Hey Captain
    What speed would you say you started out at ?
    And after your first stop looks like waves picked up a bit. Did you stay at the same speed or would you say you adjust speed as you go so your not beat up to much ??
    Thanks for the video

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  2 роки тому +3

      We did adjust the speed to the water but for the most part, we were doing in the 30 to 35 mph range.

    Hi, how is you rack after the big trip?😊

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  Рік тому +1

      I assume you are talking about the self made rack that I did a video on a couple of years ago. That rack has performed well. When it came to doing the Bimini trip though, I had second thoughts. After all, we were crossing the ocean in who knows what conditions and coming back. Because of that, I ordered a metal rack for my ski just to be safe. It turns out that two of the guys that did the Bimini trip with me had used my idea because they saw my video. They both had the self made racks on their skis for the Bimini trip and they worked wonderfully. Guess I should have had more confidence in my own video! 🤣

    Captain frank did you make it across on one tank or did you have refuel with your spare gas container? Did you feel that you were trying not to get the supercharger to spool so you could conserve fuel? Last question, any premium fuel in the Bahamas?

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  Рік тому

      Yes, I did make it across on one tank. I really never thought about trying not to spool the supercharger up. The water conditions allowed for a speed of about 35 mph so that was not really a concern. In Bimini, they said the fuel was premium but there were no markings on the pumps like in the US for us to confirm. I think a good quality octane booster is a good idea to be safe.

      @@TheShipsLogg I know in a past video you shared with us your favorite octane booster … what brand do you get?

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  Рік тому

      @@teachingrounds I use Boostane. It is the best in my opinion.

    I’ve probably missed it but ….. how long did it take you this trip?

    • @TheShipsLogg
      @TheShipsLogg  2 роки тому +2

      About 3.5 hours going from Ft. Lauderdale to Bimini. The water was a bit smoother coming back a week later so it took only about 2.5 hours.

    Looks & sounded like you guys & gals had a blast. I will say the same, the best part is the friendships & memories made during the Bahamas 🇧🇸 crossing & adventure. Thanks again for sharing.

    Do you just pick out a good weather window last minute, or do they go no matter what?

      @@jeffmullins1475 anytime you plan a crossing to Bimini, you have to be flexible. We actually had to delay by one day on this trip because of weather.

      I got over there on one tank. I did have an extra 5 gallons on board but did not need it. I would recommend taking the extra fuel anyway.

    Great way to end the day after a long day of work and then some yard work.
    I really hope you do the trip in 2023. I would be 100% down if that is the case.
