A hare feeding its leverets.....outside my kitchen window!

- A quick wee film to show you the leverets visiting my garden this spring, being fed by their mum. Such a privilege to see something as intimate as this, and I still can't really believe this happened for five consecutive nights! Certainly made lockdown easier to bear :)
PS - It's supposed to be a silent film but I forgot to take the sound off a couple of the clips, so mind you have the sound turned down otherwise you'll get loud hissing for a few seconds ;-)
You can read more about the encounter here: www.pressandjo...
hare is like a fusion of bunny and deer... they have a spooky and pretty face
They are a true symbol of persistence to survive. Hares are surrounded by danger, but pursue against death
The meat is also like a combination between bunny and deer as well. Bunnies and hares are very different even just in the muscle.
This footage is so precious
"They're wonderfully bouncy" might be my new favorite expression. That's adorable!
Ha ha! Thanks for that :)
One of the most endearing animals out here in the desert. Wonderful creatures.
Lucky you.
That’s beautiful, thank you for allowing these lovely wee creatures to just “be”. Love from Scotland 🏴
I'm in Fife :)
This is going straight to my “Cute” playlist which I watch on bad days :)
I didn't know its babies were called that. Leverets.
Nobody knows it, only Hungarians... they always carry an English dictionary 😁👍👍👍
@@aiami2695 I will not buy this record it is scratched!
@@aiami2695 🤣🤪😜😂👍🏼🇦🇺🦘🙏
@a basketboy cool! I always like to find new etymologies 🤓
*Her* babies
I love Hares, they are rarely seen here in UK these days, I caught sight of one bounding across the field near the village and it was amazing to watch.
thats Awesome work Ben
Cheers!
Just wonderful, beatiful family, thank you 😊
You are so lucky to have such precious visitors in your garden thanks for sharing this experience with us 😐
God Bless them! Keep them Safe
How wonderful to see this Its like a wildlife programme right on your doorstep
My thoughts exactly :)
With all the horrors going on in this world it's my own experiences w/ animals & wonderful videos that people like you share that puts it all back in to perspective for me, makes me feel
better & brings hope back into my life. You're right Benvironment...,it IS special. It's absolutely
lovely! Where would we be in life w/out animals showing/teaching & guiding us about morality, love & how to be the best part of ourselves. Thanks so much for sharing.
Aww, thanks for that :)
Very special ❤️🙏🏼💕
nothing gets me like the cuteness of baby hares, almost couldn't watch :')
They are beautiful. Glad they have each other, after Mum runs off after feed. Nature is wonderful. 🏴
She must feel your yard is safe, to leave her babies there
No cats ;-)
@@BenvironmentBlog that's good 👍
@a basketboy Not the garden, no. They've got open pasture to prowl.
@@BenvironmentBlog I would really like to know how you made your garden cat proof?
@@moncho6 Hardly any neighbours, and none of them have cats. A feral one has appeared in the past few months though, annoyingly.
Thank you very much.
I read the title as ‘Feeding on it’s leverets” and I was wondering why everyone was so happy about it.
Ha ha! Thanks for that, made me chuckle :)
@@BenvironmentBlog You’re welcome ^^’
I didn’t even know that’s what the babies were called
@@beatrixthegreat1138 I figured out based on context lol

What a lovely video sketch! With no music and deliberate meme stuff. Well done, hares! 😊
Cheers!
Such a lovely video never tires of watching.
Bonkers isn't it :)
Better than TV or a movie! 🐰🐰
So cute! In Arizona, we call them jackrabbits.
Every day's a school day :)
That must keep you well entertained :)
I love how the gas station takes off with the nozzles still in the cars.
Beautiful bunnies ❤!
What a privilege to see nature at its best. Ohh so beautiful.
Today I learned a baby hare is called a leveret. I guess I just thought they were called kittens like rabbits are. Very cool!
@a basketboy ooh very cool. I love linguistics!
Such beautiful bunnies 😍 I am kind of freaking out though as the babies are exposed. A large bird or animal can easily grab them.
How beautiful!
Fantastic. I love hares. It is such a rare sight to even see one but this film is great.
The hare and her babies are beautiful.
So sweet.thank you.
You have more hares on your yard than I have on my head.
There’s magic in your yard!
I needed this today!! Beautiful!!! 🐰🐰🐰🐰
Made my day - thanks so much 🙂🙏
Made MY day too ;-) Thanks for watching :)
Labai mieli kiškučiai, jų vis mažėja.
Ačiū žmonėms, kurie jas priglaudžia
How marvellous.
in the wild, the leverets are usually hidden somewhere, mom has to go out and get food and usually just returns at night, feeding the leverets. that is why she does not stay, I guess its instincts. It is dangerous if she stays too long as she could draw predators to her young. in principle, she would be perfectly safe in your little yard and her leverets too I guess, but she does not know that and just follows her routines.
They are so cute Love bunnies
*hare :)
I really enjoyed your video,Thanks
Thanks for watching :)
Wonderfull Video, Thank you .❤🙏🍀🍀🍀🍀
No worries! :)
I didn't even know that hares do that!
The mother be like “ ok my babies. Please stay here ! I will call Uber Eats right now “
Hares are precocial, meaning leverets are generally independent and fully developed by the time they're born. Rabbits, on the other hand, are altricial, meaning the kits are born blind and helpless.
See nature in its beauty is so amazing, warmed my heart. ^_^
hoppity hop, they are cute.
wonderful
Omg cuties
I know you aren’t supposed to mess with nature etc but if I knew the Hares were coming I would probably put out a healthy, energising and safe vegetable or other food out for them to enjoy. I’d probably put some water out too so they can really enjoy the garden. This video was so cuteee ❤️❤️❤️❤️🐾
Ach they're fine :) Healthy milk to drink, and then I've got plenty of clover and daisies growing naturally in the garden. Their favourite :)
@@BenvironmentBlog oh good, good. 🙂
Excellent video
Wonderful.
Very nice video
It makes me real ☺
Magnifique lapin j’adore
I agree - magnifique indeed. Just fyi: the French for hare is lièvre (lapin is rabbit). :)
cutest bunnies
Tks so much
The very last moments babies were on alert mood and thumbing!
Cuties!
vocabulary increased by 1
I think that is amazing to see!
Hares are excellent swimmers.
hares look more like deer than rabbits
Karikku
I know exactly what you mean :)
Sono bellissimi i coglietti...
Io ho avuto un coniglietto era adorabile e di una intelligenza straordinaria...
È morto dopo 11 anni ancora adesso mi manca il mio Rudy☺️😚🤗
È sempre nel mio cuore❤️
Lovely video Ben, Hares always make me smile. I hope those weasels from a few years ago don't find the Leverets !
Haven't seen a weasel here for years, sadly.
aww i love this
Super
I figured there would be more little ones, maybe jacks have fewer babies then regular rabbits! Had never seen any kind of rabbit feeding before, very special indeed. Seem pretty big to still be nursed by mom, most other rabbits are on their own at younger age. 👍🏻
Between two and four in a litter is the norm for brown hares :)
adorable!
Wondeful rabbis this video. I like very much.🐇🐇🐇🐰🌅🌹🍃🌹🍃
Awwwwww ......
They're not bunnies they're hares.
@Benvironment What camera/Phone fid you use to take these nice scenes? :o Must be a professional camera..
It was a Canon 7D with a zoom lens.
Hares can get pregnant even though they already are pregnant, even late in her pregnancy.
The new embryos simply 'wait outside', until their slightly older siblings-to-be, are born. Then they 'move in', so to speak.
full positive energy stay in your home. Rabbit feel safe life in ur home
And not just any Hare, - her name is Barbara and she lives in Blackthorn Grove - her husband drives a delivery truck for Fox International Carriers...
Wonder if they will be inspired to climb a munro or two after watching some Bletherings from you Ben
VERY CUTE 😍 ☺. Is this breed ok as a pet??.
Erm.....no
There must not be any cats or hawks in your area.
or many coyotes or bobcats. We have both native hares (Lepus californicus) and native rabbits (Sylvilagus bachmani) common here, but neither of them would ever leave their young exposed like this.
We've got owls, buzzards etc but no cats thank god. Don't get me wrong, i love cats, but they decimate wildlife and I'm glad we don't have any around here!
If only! We exterminated all our large predators over the last few hundred years. Lynx, bears, wolves, wildcats, all gone. We suck.
@@BenvironmentBlog I think bears on these small islands would be a bit problematic, a local vet noticed the farm yard kittens being brought in to his surgery were unusual some having tufts on their ears, then a few months later a dead Lynx was found on the side of the road that had been hit by a car, so they could possible be reintroduced into remote areas, i imagine the kittens would be infertile.
I adore rabbits and hares, defenceless animals who don't hurt any other animals yet are hunted and persecuted. Anyone hunting hares, who don't even have a burrow to retreat to and just nest on grass, is so evil.
"AND FEEDS THEM"
Actually stands still and wait while they suck on for milk 😂
This is the way how to feed a Baby
