Is it possible that the Japanese engineers didn't want screw with us mechanics and used 4.4mm hex bolts on purpose to not to disassemble the oil pump when removing the timing cover? I love your work and wish you better luck sourcing your next vehicle. I love Japanese cars, a specially Subis.
Hi Zbynek! That could possibly be a reason, but if I remember correctly I had to remove the pump to be able to remove the rear timing cover. The pump is bolted through the cover on 2-3 screws. Thank you! I tend to have bad luck when buying cars, it's almost like the universe wants me to get the bad ones and fix them up. :)

Yup, you have to remove the pump - I was able to remove all of the bolts but one, which I drilled out.
