Note: to save me saying it again and again.
If you watch my videos you will see I use gloves, however for testing it for a few seconds it doesn't matter! (To me the owner of the skin) I know all about uv from welding and skin cancer my dad has it.
If your new to welding, hey welding lets off uv, use gloves, welding mask, long sleeves and a respirator as the fumes can also give you cancer. If you are using thoriated tungsten electrodes these are radioactive don't keep them in your pants and don't breath the dust while grinding the electrode that will also give you cancer.
Side note I work with a professional tig welder occasionally... He dosn't use gloves at all, crazy world ay!

Health and safety mad... Don't eat that bacon sandwich in the morning. That must be what gave me cancer.. (Only 18 at the time, so doesn't matter what you do.. Sh*t happens)

You can sharpen those scribes, by removing the clip at back, chuck it into drill or lathe and sharpen it with angle grinder and flap disk. I often use them as punch for the drilling, so i run into this issue of chipping often as well. Yes i'm aware you are not suppose to punch marks with scribe and that its potentially dangerous due fragments could be flying into eyes, but its usually closest thing i happen to have around, i always wear some eye protection and this has happened me only few times mainly when punching hardened materials by accident like weld seam that has been cooled off rapidly.

You’ve got me thinking about sewing machine footswitches and a PWM circuit...

Does this method actually control amperage? Or just power off and on?

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  11 місяців тому +1

This machine works by setting the power and then the button is on and off, it is not variable by press.

Wire strippers are overrated, I always find myself nicking the wire with them more anyway
I carefully score with a sharp razor
    And then rip it off
Or if I'm lazy that I pinch it with wire cutters hold the blade in my hand so it doesn't move and rip it.

Ingenuous! While watching this video, I paused and went looking for a foot switch on google... AND this video came up 3rd in search que. "tig welder foot switch".

You could use a 5 pin relay to swap the no/nc nature of the pedal. Controls are most likely dc on your machine :)

As a welder i'm fully disturbed about how you held that torch. And please wear tig gloves you don't want skin cancer on your hands exposing yourself to that harmful UV Rays

      You must be new here.
      1. I was not holding it as I normally would.
      2. I do but I need not worry for a 2 second shot.
