I can’t remember if I mentioned it, but we have gotten soooo many garden fresh vegetables from friends this year and could not be more grateful! This saved us money, too, this month. 😅😅😅. It’s expensive to eat these days. Love hearing what you are doing to stay in budget or at least TRY.
Same! Most recipes have you using unsalted butter then have you add like a teaspoon of salt. What’s the difference! I just use the salted butter and cut back in the recipe’s salt measurements.
I really enjoy your channel. It is wonderful to experience life with your family. I married a wonderful Christian man when I was 52 and we have been enjoying life together for 20 years.
I get the highlights hidden picture books. Then I take them apart and put the pages in sheet protectors in a 3 ring binder. That makes it where the kids can find pictures and circle them with crayons markers and wipe them off with a Kleenex when done. That way several can do the same puzzle. It also makes a good quiet church activity.
Maybe next year you can start a small box garden. Start small so it doesn’t overwhelm you. Four boxes with left over wood that you have and dirt. Seriously, then you already have it there. Plant a few discounted fruit trees at the end of the season. Or, you can come to my house ( there is just 2 of us) and I can give you all of the pears and tomatoes your family can eat! We feed the migrants that work around here. They are so nice and they have been coming for years now. It makes me feel good.
Hi Sarah, you do a wonderful job feeding your family healthy and tasty meals and snacks. I'm finding it hard to afford enough food so I have cut down to two small meals a day and I drink water if I feel hungry. I can't continue like this long term so I'll have to figure something out if I live much longer. God has already given me 12 years longer than the two my lifelong specialists gave me at age 32. Food is very expensive in my country and I've not been able to work as a school teacher or be a foster mum for 14 years. I lost both my parents in the last few years and in some ways I really want to be with them but I trust in God that I still have a purpose for being here. God bless you, solo, your gorgeous kids and your extended family.
Hey Sarah!! Cacao is just the raw/unprocessed version of cocoa. I believe they roast the cacao to turn it into cocoa which I've read can lower some of the vitamins and minerals but I'm no expert. I also buy both 😊
How we are saving a ton each month month for a small family is shopping the grocery adds and using digital coupons and trying to base meal plan on that for 4 weeks
I love your food hauls. Although I live alone, having raised my family, I can appreciate the planning of your food list and necessities every month. Blessings to you and your family ❤
Wow Sara how do you hold it all together my goodness girl all the cooking washing and home schooling I don't know how you do it all I'm can't wait for yall to move into the BIG house it will be so much better for the family I know your so ready for it .yall are so blessed I love your videos and all that you do so thank you Sara for all of the hard work
It's just myself and my husband, and I can't believe how expensive groceries have become. I'm thankful I'm not feeding a large family like you are. You got a lot of produce and organic options for your money.
When i was younger i used always pads (they're plasticky) and i was always irritated. Since i changed with some cotton pads i stopped having that problem. I also use period underwear to save on pads. And they're more comfortable than pads. Especially at night.
The main ways I am shopping to stay on budget is shopping sales and markdowns and eating seasonally. I know you like only shopping once a month, but weekly sales can save so much money! For example, we love apples, but they have not been sale, but peaches have been. So we have adjusted and are eating more peaches right now. Or, when pork butt is on sale, I buy extra for the freezer. I challenge you to a grocery store challenge! Try shopping weekly with sales and see if that helps your grocery budget!
Guesstimate countdown until monthly grocery hauls are unloaded & getting put away in the new home🎉. How fun will that be😍 God bless & have a great day!!!
I love your grocery hauls! Every time I watch though I keep thinking.... you should plant a garden and berry plants to help save money....but I also know how much time all that takes and with little ones it's SO hard.
FYI Ticonderoga also has the thicker pencil for younger children. They are really good. I also like to use them when writing over a long period of time as they don't fatigue your hand
“Don’t put that plastic bag on your head!!!” Real life right there!!! 😂. My baby is 9, so I love hearing😊 the little ones chatter 💜One of the few channels I watch consistently. Thanks for sharing your haul!!! ❤
I buy weekly as can not have the money to buy monthly we find it hard i go to farm foods 3 bags chicken for12 pounds and frozen veggies only got six drawer s i fed five i about 200 a week but some junk we don't buy a lot of fruit you did well blessings nanapollyx Scotland 🙏🌻🧚🌟💐☕🍰🥰🌞👸
It is getting harder to stay in budget. What really helps is leftovers, especially on days where I work a particularly long shift. Also those are a lot of markers. You got a lot of little ones who love to color lol.
I love Sam’s club. I was inspired by you to shop big there once a month. I stuff my freezer and I have to say I’ve saved so much in money and time. This month I ordered on line and my daughter works close to Sam’s club so she picked it all up for me so I saved there as well. Thank you so much for making these videos. I’m super excited about your new home. It’s beautiful. Many blessings to you and your family 💖🙏💖
What I do, which is top priority is make sure I have all the fresh fruit and veg. It is hard to say with what in season though. After that it’s the proteins. I hardly ever go down the center lanes. I just do the perimeter which is where all the healthy foods are.
Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a wonderful week. The only way my family of four is staying within a budget is by shopping weekly sales and working our meals around those items. This week plumcots were on sale and the family got to try something new. Also my local store will sell produce 50 percent off. Requires more store visits but doable since we live within five minutes of our grocery store.
Most of the school supplies and craft items can be found at the Dollar store and Target for cheap. I’ve been mixing cottage cheese into my eggs to make scrambled eggs and breakfast burritos to add more protein. I love seeing and hearing about how you stay, or try to, in budget. 🥰
Now I love these videos. I look forward to these every month. I wanted to say there's nothing wrong with bone in and skin on..that's how my mom cooked sometimes she would debone the chicken to do something else with it I don't mean to be rude ...oh BTW Good morning from Omaha
I don't know how you do it. I've got a family of 3, I spent $326 at Sam's today. I even bought split chicken breasts on sale for $1.27 lb this month. Just trying to survive in these crazy high priced times.
I feel like things are so hard anymore. Groceries keep on getting higher and higher. We have been buying a lot more items that we normally wouldn’t buy because our oven is broken. I miss being able to bake and meal prep. I know as our kids keep getting older costs just keep on rising. Thankfully I coupon for some items but not sure how that’s going to happen being I’m going back to work full time
Sams club has an off brand post it note that I buy (I use them everyday for work). They are much cheaper. Self stick note paper I think is what they call it. :)
Finally! Another mom that shops like me. Im not feeding as many people as you (family of 6), but I too shop once a month here in Canada and noticed we spend a lot less shopping this way than if I were to shop weekly or bi-weekly.
I really look forward to you moving into your newly built home and doing a full months grocery haul to put away in your new pantry, fridges, closets and garage freezers. I would love to see you put it all away. Please show us where you put it all in the new house, as you are putting it all away!
Sarah, I don't know if you've tried this, but reserving a section of the wall in your school area for a mid-to-large piece of Peg Board could help you out a bunch. First of all, many of your packaged pens, etc. have holes in the top of the pack, and can hang. Also, there is a huge variety of shelves, "small buckets," and other attachments to keep the small, but frequently needed items "close at hand." Something to consider when storing things out of the reach of the "littles" when you're not able to watch everything--scissors, etc. I used to have one in my craft room, and it was amazing. It was on the front of a shelf unit, so I was able to hang and childproof in the front with pegs; and and stack paper, workbooks, and similar items on the shelves in the back. Yes, I am OCD. I love the Bic lead pencils. You advance the lead by turning the point of the pencil. It's much harder to break the lead, and erasers stay put. These are disposable (probably recyclable).
Costco has Siete in large bags and this month of August they had multiple flavors also the Sweet Potato Chips in Avocado Oil they also have a potatoes chip in Avocado oil to. So good I go in just for those sometimes
Hi Sarah, Did you know watermelon cubes freeze beautifully? I do that for dessert, instead of prepared desserts. The frozen watermelon seems very much more sweet than the fresh. I can eat a whole plateful of fresh watermelon, but can only manage about half a cup of frozen, because it is so sweet. I have started using jarred mushrooms to make up space in meat meals...a 1:1 ratio of mushrooms to meat. You can get a 7 oz glass jar of mushroom slices at Dollar Tree for $1.25, so $2.86 per pound. I also do the same things with beans. Beans are relatively cheap, if you buy dried beans, and they work beautifully to stretch meat dishes too! I hope this helps. Praying for better days!
I buy name brand post it notes and puzzle books and other office/school supplies at Dollar TREE 🌴🌴🌴.... everything used to be 1.00 but now a lot of items are 1.25 or more....great name brand Kleenex, party supplies, and sponges, hair bands, name brand toothpaste, floss....LOVE Dollar TREE
I would say most things are a lot cheaper for back to school at Dollar Tree - if not cheaper, no more expensive. They have great varieties of name brand school items. Shop early tho!!!!
Thanks for sharing! I just noticed it's time for us to put in our large meat order too. We usually buy a pig at a time and a 1/2 beef. We are a family of 9 so it lasts a little while.
Pastèque is french for watermelon. Just like Chèvre written in big font on the goat’s cheese packaging, it’s a merketing tactic to make it look fancy. ☺️
We spend on average over $2000 CDN on groceries for our family of 4 adults and a younger teen. This is in Canada. Not all organic, but trying to eat whole, healthy food for the most part. We buy half a beef at a time for the freezer.
I love bone in skin on Chicken thighs....bone in meat is so much tastier. I debone after cooking to make chicken salad, soup, etc. save bones and skin to make homemade stock.....YUM!!!
Once you are in milk and getting enough cream, it is so easy to culture your own sour cream. And it’s better than anything you’ll buy. Nancy’s included. ❤
When I used to work at a Christian camp. I used to use the leftover meats from breakfast and lunches to make salads so what I would do is the barbecue chicken I'd make barbecue chicken salad. And the honey ham after breakfast I would grind that up put some mustard mayo and relish and add some shredded and chopped celery and carrots. I do the same thing with the chicken salad. Also leftover home fries and there's not usually a leftover bacon but if I did I'd add some of that in there. For potato salad
there's just the two of now. But I still buy butter and put in the freezer. Mine isn't organic but it doesn't change the taste either. and I also bake with salted butter. when I was young. we just had butter. not salted or unsalted.. I buy Nancy's at Walmart. We use to have a Construction business So I always stocked up office supplies at this time of year. (we're retired now. BUT I still buy notebooks, colored pencils, tape, .I have been buying paper clips, and rubber bands at Dollar tree the last few years.
Sarah, it's soo good to see you back to your subtle (just like Papa) sense of humor. I LOVE IT😅😅😂😂 Blessings and Favor will forever rest on your family because of your faithfulness to Our Lord and Savior ❤❤
I keep going over on my grocery budget as well. My budget before the pandemic was $100 a week ($400 a month) for my family of 5. Now my budget is $170 a week and i still struggle, especially when i try to get better quality foods.
I also use aldi. Right now they have 80/20 beef for 3.99 a pound. They have let me buy it by the box. I also use dollar store for some school supplies. You do an amazing job with your budget and eating healthy.
Glad to hear that I’m not the only one who brings in a big hall of food/supplies and then has to figure out where to put it all… bc we are also a large family in a smaller house… it’s overwhelming for me at times to put everything in “it’s place” bc really I have to figure out where that place is and hope my kids don’t just help themselves to all the school supplies before it’s time to use them…😂
Next road trip swing by Northern Michigan, pick me up,and I will tag along as security-crowd control! I laughed and could not stop smiling the whole time. Just what I needed today 😂
Sarah, your grocery halls are great. You are so honest, thorough and really stick to a tight budget. I was so glad you were able to show the sanitary pads and speak on the benefits. It’s nice to see you grant yourself grace in not being “purists “ but you sure eat squeaky clean!
You could make sherbet (sweet white powder to enjoy and bribe kids with) from the citrus peels etc. Cooked chickens are a very easy meal with salad, rolls and even fries cooked at home.
🇦🇺I bought my granddaughter and my youngest daughter re usable pads. They have both several packs of daytime and one pack of nighttime re usable pads that you rinse out then wash in the washing machine. They last about 10 years.
I pop into local stores every couple of days when I am out looking for clearance. Takes 10 minutes to run through and I find great deals early in the morning. I almost never pay full price and just eat whats marked down.
You do such a good job, Sarah! Everybody is struggling with their budget these days. I love all your school supplies! I don’t have any kids but still want school supplies.🦋
Here you can find gallons and half gallons of pickles at Kroger. 7.99 for the half, 9.99 for the gallon. Random side note, gallon and half gallon pickle jars work great for bulk storage and milk jars.
To save $$ on laundry I’ve started making my own liquid laundry soap. It’s borax and arm and hammer washing soda and zote bar soap that I grate and melt. I make 2 5 gallon buckets that last me a year. Granted there’s only 3 of us, but It ends up only being $.03 a load. I’ve also started making my own cleaning solution. We love oranges, mandarins, and all citrus really. So I put the peels in a large jar and add the distilled white vinegar. It kills germs and it also takes on the scent of the citrus. After it sits for a a couple weeks I put some in a spray bottle and use it for everything especially the kitchen counters. Such a great thing to save $$ . I also use white vinegar as a fabric softener just adding essential oils for the scent. In the foo department….i save the juice w from the pickles (so many uses!) but this summer i slice up cucumbers and pack them in that leftover pickle brine and stick them in the back of the fridge for a couple weeks. It makes crispy, crunchy pickles!! So awesome!!! Not shelf stable but fridge stable!!! Hope this helps in some way! By the way, making the liquid laundry detergent is a great science project because the borax makes the soap gel up overnight. There’s a great recipe on UA-cam. I e been doing it for some time!!
We NOW are cutting our grocery budget down. We stretch it out and use it up even more. A lot of casseroles, skillet dishes and ground beef. We buy in bulk only when it comes out cheaper. I make the sales each week and stock up on anything we eat/use that’s a good buy. I freeze all leftovers when we tire of them and turn them into combo meals later on. I’ve dropped the name brands on a lot of things and go with store brand. I scratch cook most everything and eat out a whole lot less. Thanks for sharing your great haul video. I love watching you guys!
I do like to hear your budgeting tips. Sometimes I haven't thought of that particular thing but it will work good for me. So thanks.
Shop two different stores. I'll go to Sam's and Walmart
.sometimes if I can dollar store.
Can you explain your homeschool curriculum please!!!
I know your family loves fruit, but since it’s so expensive now, I’d cut back on that for awhile
@@marcykornelsen1387 and give them what instead?
Can't get over how cute your hair is at this length Sarah!
I love it
I always use salted butter in baking too! So glad to know I'm not the only one. 😊
Same! Most recipes have you using unsalted butter then have you add like a teaspoon of salt. What’s the difference! I just use the salted butter and cut back in the recipe’s salt measurements.
Same here and I still add the salt they ask for in recipes.
I only buy salted butter. It has a better flavor to me.
Me too
I really enjoy your channel. It is wonderful to experience life with your family. I married a wonderful Christian man when I was 52 and we have been enjoying life together for 20 years.
Love that!!!
Bel isn’t back from her mission is she?
I get the highlights hidden picture books. Then I take them apart and put the pages in sheet protectors in a 3 ring binder. That makes it where the kids can find pictures and circle them with crayons markers and wipe them off with a Kleenex when done. That way several can do the same puzzle. It also makes a good quiet church activity.
Sarah! Your two year old is definitely “homeschooled”. She has learned everything she knows at home 💞
If I had to feed that many people we would all be in the line at a food bank 😂
I agree Sarah, it’s a struggle right now, trying to stay within budget. I think you’re doing great! Thanks for taking us along! ❤ xo

Love shopping days. I remember school supplies were like Christmas presents. Hi everyone.❤

I grill bone in skin on chicken thighs after I marinate them in Italian dressing, so good and simple.

Great haul
I love your grocery hauls! Every time I watch though I keep thinking.... you should plant a garden and berry plants to help save money....but I also know how much time all that takes and with little ones it's SO hard.

I checked the Sam’s app. The gallon jars of pickles are still available here. The Sam’s on 27th in Lincoln has the big jars.
Thanks for the tip..
Its such a wonderful surprise to come to UA-cam and see one of your videos. Pretty soon you'll be showing your monthly food hauls in your new home! 😀
Good morning, stay cool.
I love your hauls, yes they’re expensive but you have a big family and it’s a lot of food and items that you buy. You plan ahead which I love 😌😊
It’s just my husband and myself and it’s ridiculous what we spend on groceries! I feel your pain!
Sarah just think of all the wonderful space you’ll have in your new home 😊.Blessing to you and your entire family.
Thanks for another grocery haul. Plus some back 2 school stuff.
Not that much longer Sara. Think of how far you guys have come 💜

Ticonderoga pencils are the best!!! We buy them at Sam’s Club! Way cheaper. Post it notes too!
Good idea! Just figured Walmart would be less expensive.

I always loved back to school shopping. I still would, but I hardly ever need that stuff. Can’t wait to have kids that need school supplies.
Costco has Siete in large bags and this month of August they had multiple flavors also the Sweet Potato Chips in Avocado Oil they also have a potatoes chip in Avocado oil to. So good I go in just for those sometimes
Those are my favorite notebooks! The plastic cover really helps them hold up!

Your food shopping looks amazing. It goes to show that eating healthy is cheaper in the long run
That's not too bad my son went to Costco just to get some easy food to make while I'm gone for a week and spent 245.
I love bone in skin on Chicken thighs....bone in meat is so much tastier. I debone after cooking to make chicken salad, soup, etc. save bones and skin to make homemade stock.....YUM!!!

I use salted butter, I use to get consulted before now I just adjust the salt amount in the recipe

Friends r the best! When it comes to supplies, u can only do so much!
Thank you for the grocery hall.
. $2000. a month is not enough for the family. Love from New
Yes i totally agree i have been using that brand recently. God bless you and your family.
there's just the two of now.
Thanks for the tips about clips and bands!
@@OurTribeofMany and you can get colors in the paper clips No added cost. I know the little things to get excited about.
I really enjoy watching your channel, never boring. You all are a blessed family.
Glad to hear that I’m not the only one who brings in a big hall of food/supplies and then has to figure out where to put it all… bc we are also a large family in a smaller house… it’s overwhelming for me at times to put everything in “it’s place” bc really I have to figure out where that place is and hope my kids don’t just help themselves to all the school supplies before it’s time to use them…😂
As far as back to school as I shop all year round as I see deals etc so never a problem when school starts up again
16:14 you can put cottage cheese in the blender and add ranch seasoning. It makes a really yummy dip for chips and veggies and has protein
I always use salted butter also ❤
Next road trip swing by Northern Michigan, pick me up,and I will tag along as security-crowd control!
Good morning from Ct.
🇦🇺I bought my granddaughter and my youngest daughter re usable pads. They have both several packs of daytime and one pack of nighttime re usable pads that you rinse out then wash in the washing machine. They last about 10 years.
Yes...we do that as well. These are great if we aren't home.
Enjoyed the video 😊
I saw a lady the other day on the Internet that grated butter into her ground beef and made delicious hamburgers! 😍 I was intrigued I’m gonna try it.
Yum....I put butter on steak the other day and wow....it was amazing!
We just got those pickles for my husband, and he's loving them as a side with lunch, which is ironically salami sandwiches. They are pricey, though.
Yes, the Costco in KC has siete chips
We NOW are cutting our grocery budget down. We stretch it out and use it up even more. A lot of casseroles, skillet dishes and ground beef. We buy in bulk only when it comes out cheaper. I make the sales each week and stock up on anything we eat/use that’s a good buy. I freeze all leftovers when we tire of them and turn them into combo meals later on. I’ve dropped the name brands on a lot of things and go with store brand. I scratch cook most everything and eat out a whole lot less. Thanks for sharing your great haul video. I love watching you guys!
Man I stock on school supplies by half way through year need to replenish and prices are far too high.
Ticonderoga Pencils are the absolute best!!! My family has a lot of teachers in it and they love them!! Amazing!!
