i have this same one my belt was gone I went to hardware store and got a plumbing o ring its about little bigger then a quarter it cost $1 it works perfectly.
Thanks for the video. It wasn't running but now it runs great. You don't have to remove the belt in the 0 position. You can slide the motor to the right for easy access.
Great video very detailed and informative. I have the SL-MC7 can you verify size of belt replacement and where to purchase them. Looks like dash number 022. Thank you for the reply.
I have one. With advancements in technology today. Do you think it could possibly be moded to have a USB interface to connect to a PC and have a CD changer that worked on a PC?
I recently replaced the small belt your showed here and still the carriage won't go fully across to "check the discs". If it isn't the belt, what else could it be? Thoughts?
Hello, may You can help: I am owner of the MC7 and was owner of the MC6 and the former mc400. All the devices have had problems with keeping the data of the cds like album and interpret. They get lost and stay blank in several cases. It happens mostly in the random mode where the carriage moves often in both directions. So I think it is a justage failure. Any idea? Thanks!
These units are much older than the early 2000s… I bought mine for my 25th birthday in 1994. It still takes pride of place in my hi-fi stick. Recently, the CDs have started jumping and skipping relentlessly. I have tried cleaning both of the head optics and obviously all the CDs but to no avail and. I think I may have to replace the optical head but would have no idea how to go about it. When I got it I must look forward to making use of the CD text facility as I already had over 200 CDs at the time but was extremely frustrated to find that only half a dozen of my CDs had access to the encrypted data. When I discovered1 last year is that if you rip your CDs onto your computer and then back onto a blank CV, the unit will read the CD text correctly. I have wondered if this is the reason why my CDs are now jumping but I reloaded the originals and the problem still exists.

There is probably a super capacitor that has weakened or died. The service manual is available at hifiengine.com
