You gotta be old school to know about how the Miami Boys were going hard in Atlanta back in the day. They were no joke. They had the *keys* to the city for real and were bout that action. Even Luke showed up with a bunch of Miami Boys when they attacked Death Row at Jack Da Rapper. You put a bunch of Miami street dudes anywhere and it’s going down. Yep, Shawty all was truly a kingpin. Old school dudes from Bankhead til this day will tell you Lo was the man in the city way before rap. I remember when Katrina hit and all the New Orleans dudes from 3rd to 17th Ward came to Memphis. They were calling folks in Memphis wild. You heard stories about how they were tearing up Houston or starting mess in Atlanta, but in Memphis, they met their match when it comes to messing with other broke and crazy black folks lol.

Okay, from the community perspective on the Miami Boys. I worked for a nonprofit next to East Lake Meadows in the mid-80s. A guy from Miami was hired to work w the teen program. He had a fine younger sister so I went by his place since he was a coworker (I was college student btw). Everyone at his spot smoked weed on the few occasions I visited. Within a year of him coming to the A with his “family” East Lake Meadows and east Atlanta had become crack central. I can’t say w certainty but I’m sure he came to recruit esp working w young people and showing them how to make fast money. I witnessed this w my own eyes until I moved in to another job. I’m not street but I’d venture to say the dope game started in east Atlanta and made it’s way to the west side. Those OGs had the west side on lock until crack came through and the young boys (Shawty Lo’nem) started hitting the block. OAN I’m a Hurricane Katrina researcher (see videos on my channel) and I’ll reserve thoughts on last part of interview.

I can't even let him speak for my city like that. Atlanta been popping since the '80s. We had the most projects in America and some of the worst projects in America. East Lake Meadows AKA little Vietnam. From the East to the West to the South side. The Olympics is what changed Atlanta. They tore down most of the projects and the people relocated to places like the Stone Mountain and some of the outskirts and made those places Wild. Plus the Olympics made it an international City so there was a huge migration to where half the people in Atlanta wasn't from Atlanta. I grew up with dudes from New York Detroit New Orleans Miami Chicago LA all of that. Hurricane Katrina happened after all of that. Yeah it added some more spice to the gumbo and there was some big clashes at first and the new normal went up a notch, but that was everybody. And every generation has turned it up a notch. Now we all had kids that were born and raised in Atlanta and that made a new breed
