- Data released by Statistics South Africa shows that unemployment increased by 0.8 percentage points in the first quarter of 2024. The latest quarterly labour force survey indicates that unemployment increased from 32,1% to 32.9% in the first quarter of 2024. The number of unemployed persons increased by 330 000 to reach 8,2 million in the first quarter, while the number of employed persons increased by 22 000 to reach 16,7 million in the first quarter of 2024.

If you want to create jobs, do away with the anti-small business, centralised bargaining council structure to collective bargaining and replace it with a decentralised pro-small business approach that locates collective bargaining between workers and employers. Large business will not solve the unemployment crisis, only small business nd do it. MR VAVI YOU AND YOUR TRADE UNION ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM!

It is a terrible situation our country faces. It cannot be resolved by party manifesto nor change of political party. This requires a non-partison collective, sober industrial/academic strategies to pragmatically confront all societal ills hindering the economic growth in SA.
