I had this exact bike in high school and rode it through college. What a blast from the past. Seeing that early computer is pure nostalgia. I loved that bike...got lost to time.
I've never rode a motorcycle and I'm thinking about a Virago 250 for my first bike. It's interesting to see what one of the old models looked and sounded like. Thanks for showing
What a beautiful classic 1981! Yamaha Virgo I remember that bike v twin that is one sexy beast The '80s were the best. Thank you, sir, awesome bike! Great video Ronnie New England motorcycle museum number one Great work Kaplan team beautiful
I had the metallic grey 1982 550 Maxim. I traded it in for the 1984 Virago 700. Wished I'd kept both of those bikes. Great machines even though the Virago had the annoying starter issue.
Well I did a thing! I just won the auction for this Virago 920. $1995 was the winning bid. I feel like it's a good deal. Ken Kaplan seems like a straight shooter so I'm confident I'm getting a good bike. I had a 1984 Virago 700 so I won't be surprised if this bike has a noisy starter.
@@nachodog7766 Brother, you got a bike that was gone over and tip top for $2k. Fantastic price. This isn't a Craigslist bike. This is a Kaplan approved bike! So stoked for you! Edit. Just watched the video again. Fantastic buy. Love those block clusters on 80's bikes! Please keep me(us) posted when you receive it.
I ride one of these and yes. There is a reinforced clip for the bendix starter mechanism. I also slightly shortened my spring on bendix and it’s kicking ass ever since. Sometimes, I still look for a 6th gear after years 😂
These Yamaha Viragos last forever and are great V-Twin bikes. Underappreciated bikes that are a pure joy to own and drive.

Can't keep up with this beauties amazing machines non stop anything I knew about bikes since I was a kid. seen them new again is incredible
Just bought a 1982 Virago 920 for my first bike. Super excited to start riding it
I have a 1983 Yamaha XV920 Midnight Special with 8990 original miles. Fantastic bike for what it is, my second bike to own!
I have an 83 Midnight 920 in Phx. Mine was minty like this. Still a looker with black and gold saddle bags. I’m about to go for a night ride 🙌
You have $$$$ with it very rare model

Beautiful and well kept bike. The black and gold colors make it look super classy.
"MIDNIGHT" was black and gold trim
My first bike was a black 1982 yamaha Maxim 550. Wish I still had that bike. was a fun little bike!
I'd rather have that Maxim than a Virago.

@@nachodog7766 If I were to have a V-Twin I'd opt for another bike but you could get Viragos low miles for so cheap back in the day.

Nice shape low mileage . My friend owned one . Fun bikes and reliable . That is a good bike .
Strong bike as well, better than any Harley-Davidson
I love the virago's.
Love the videos
Same bike I first learned on today and actually still have it but mine has painted fenders
Wicked crusin bikes …
my grad year - another bike I wanted............
one of then die grinders with a wire wheel would cut the corrosion pronto, do wear a mask regardless,
Does anyone else that has an early virago have starter issues that the main reason I parked mine

Get it reduced, it's a factory defect, get quieter But not totally gone
Get it reduced, determined to be a factory defect
Buddy of mine just picked one up, wiring nightmare, just so i have a idea... what's the stater issue with these?@stephenragland7710
@travisclarke9214 is a factory defect. The V-Stars have similar issues, dealer can fix it, but will be $$$ to get reduced
