    My recommendation would be synthetic paddock boots I have had a pair of mine for 3 years and they are still in amazing shape I wear them everywhere and since they are synthetic they hold up super nicely and are easy to clean. In the winter I just wear wool socks I don’t go to the barn every day but I am sure they would still hold up plus a lot of paddock boots are zip up so easy to get on and of you could also wear chaps with them. Hope that helps I love your channel!

    I just bought Moretta Nella boots from SmartPak, I’ll come back and comment with an update when they get here. Their calve sizing offers a larger range which was awesome and they zip which hopefully will be easier to get them on/off!

    I've had my mountain horse boots for over 10 years. They look almost the same as the day I bought them. They only started to leak 3 years ago and have a full zipper. For just around the barn stuff, I got tall shiny black rubber boots from Walmart for $13 and they lasted 3 years. I just went back and bought a bunch in my size. I bought my mom those Target gardening boots and they look awesome and are the best quality at $35.00

    I live in my tall BOGS all fall/winter. They are neoprene on top with a rubber bottom so not breathable. They are insulated and warm though and completely waterproof. I often swap my boots for riding but the bogs have enough of a heel that sometimes I just wear them.

    How about a tall pair of Bogs, Muck Boot Company, or Xtratuf? Funny video, reminds me of the days when we all wore pull-on leather tall boots, no zippers! I remember my mom pulling off my boots for me when I couldn't get my boot jack to work, LOL. Anyways, bummer about your boots. I've had a pair of Ovation Vionix paddock boots since May 2019, I still wear them but I've had to stitch them back together once already and now a second time...not sure if this second fix is going to work. I don't think they would be good for your purposes, but I feel ya on the boot problems. Cute socks by the way :-)

    Ariat all the way!!! I live in northern Oregon, and I think the weather here may be similar to yours, I've had my one pair of Ariat western boots (simple leather roper style) for 5 years now.
    I purchased them for a job requiring me to wear them daily indoors (boot barn), and they became my daily boots for my next job as a trainer as well. I've oiled them and worn them in the snow, all through the summer, walked through rivers (literally filled the boot with water, dumped them out, carried on) and they are STILL holding up beautifully - though finally, five years later, after all this abuse, they're beginning to be a little worn on one side, I suspect the leather may crack in that spot somewhat soon. I have absolutely abused these boots.
    Also, while working at boot barn for awhile I had tons of people come in to get their "yearly replacement" of just about every brand, except Ariat.. I investigated and started asking people, and sure enough, they were lasting people a LOT longer than the competing brands.
    With all that information, I should also mention that I oil/condition my boots just about every month, using the same stuff as for saddles.
    They sell country style boots, very similar to dublins! I've yet to try these out though.

    • @GypsyEquestrian
      @GypsyEquestrian  4 роки тому

      Did you get like country ariat boots? I have a pair of short paddock books but I'm guessing you're talking about like a cowboy boot. I think because I'm not in a riding program I'd be down to go "country" style! Man you take care of your boots!!! 🙌🏻

    I think you might have a size too small if you are putting that much friction on the lining, also indicative because you have to use the boot puller. I would size up and make sure you get the xtra wide calf. But it seems like you are going for something else.

  • @Shewolfen
    @Shewolfen 3 роки тому

    there is a trick to getting slip ons off, you work it off in little pushes . Point your toe as you push on the heel with your other foot (or the boot jack) to get it to budge a bit, then flex your toe up without pushing with the other foot on the heel but you are pushing with your heel inside the boot as you flex your foot , and repeat these actions . you work it back and forth this way and can inch it off this way a little at a time to get it past the heel. Its not heard once you get used to the technique. your boot may also be a size too small if they are that tight as shown in the video to where you are struggling. you may need a half size bigger or a wide. You could also try a shoe stretching spray . For the damage, you can get glue to glue shoes back together with a product like Shoeglue specifically made for shoe repair. for the loose lining, you would have to open a seam a bit and paint the inside with glue. You can glue loose soles on too. Make sure when you glue you give a lot of time to dry, like several days.

    Dubarry is the way to go, made for the mud and wet conditions here, they do seem expensive in the US though maybe go online direct to them or try Amazon. I wish you luck when you get a pair. They are a tough boot and worth the expense. Using another person to remove boots, he should have straddled your leg with his back to you, then push on his arse with your other foot as he pulls on the boot, He may end up with a muddy boot print on his backside though.

    Same exact thing happened with my Dublin River boots, although admittedly I have had them for 3.5 years. I really didn't want to buy another pair (I've heard the new river boots are made differently) so I shoved the lining in as best I could and have just been sticking my hand down the back of the boot and holding down the lining when I pull my foot out of it. I'm holding out as long as I can before buying something else- River boots are still the most versatile for both mud and riding that I have found- would love to see a review if you have since found something better!

    Honestly, I’ve used “muck” boots for awhile and I love them!! I use the brand Lincoln outfitters, and they were way cheaper, and I like them more than the actual “muck boot” brand! I just go through work type of boots SUPER fast and I didn’t want to pay $220.00 for a pair that may not last super long! I found the Lincoln brand and they were only $80.00! Normally those types of boot the price also goes up with the size, and with me getting a 9 1/2 (or maybe even a 10), $80.00 seemed very reasonable! Hope you find something that works for you :).
