Well done , you really put people to think before acting . A lot of research is required before a big move . I currently live in the UK and im loving all this people moving to my country and give some live to this places long abandoned . In Alentejo/Algarve (Ourique /Silves border) is were my mum and dad comes from ,we still have a homestead , and all the land around got deserted , but in recent years foreigners are buying the homesteads and bringing live back to the area. Thats the place i want to go back when i retire , my peace of heaven . Thanks for the video and stay safe
Unfortunately, owning land in Portugal does not give you the right to use the land for whatever you want. There is a municipal plan (PDM - Municipal Director Plan) in which you can consult the conditions of each location. There are also GIS platforms (Geographic Information System) where you can consult the conditions of the land. Sometimes the same land can cover several categories of the PDM, such as construction area, forest area, national agricultural reserve, etc.
Cindy, I know this is immensely helpful to people who want to move to Portugal to develop a farm. I caught on to one channel, a time back... a young couple who bought farm land in the Algarve and they caught nothing but trouble... then they stopped filming. I felt bad for them. Very expensive life lessons. Makes me glad I’m not planning to farm. I eventually hope to buy a small house on the outskirts of a village. That will do me just fine! Take care, cheers ~
Yes I watched that channel as well. They have now bought a farm and released an update video a couple of weeks ago. They did hit trouble. A small house on the outskirts of a village will be nice!
Excellent advice,.... BTW, I imagine that your place is somewhere between Castelo Branco and Fundao, which makes it in the south eastern side of Serra da Guardunha, my place is in the north western side of it,between Fundao and Orvalho. We should have a "boeretroos" sometime.
Definitely! I'm close to Orca and Penamacor. As soon as I'm all settled in I'll be making boerewors and biltong as I've done wherever I've lived in the world!
Good to make such a video Cindy. I have considered all the points. The legal info. is the trickiest for me. I have moved more than a few times and always consider many options before moving and finances and weather and climate also. I found a site with daily, weekly and yearly weather records and am checking out different areas. I have been a project leader for more than one project and know the drill. I just started with language sites now. Main concern now are how this plandemic notice plays out and travel restrictions. Not looking for a farm per say, more a rural small house with a few orchard trees and room for a veg garden and a dozen chickens.
@@CindyVine I have been looking too on more than one real estate site. I am retired now but my wife is still working. We hope to get to Portugal in the fall to look around, more a vacation trip plus house hunting time. I'm thinking now to rent a flat or house as Cindy & Ken did to have a roof over our heads while finding something to live in. We will not be free to move until 2021 unless I go ahead and work on the property & prepare the home.
@@CindyVine Thanks Cindy. Nothing ever works out exactly to plan but this is life and maybe a good thing. I suppose everything starts in dreams and ends with action
I worry about water the most, 20s vs 40s inches of rain in NY, hard to irrigate a large portion of land. Small garden alright. Rest would have to be olives or something I guess.
I have done a video on the future plans which is mostly about the cottage and the wells. My goal is to eventually get Saanen milk goats and kune kune pigs once I have all the necessary infrastructure.
I have no interest in buying a farm-I just like to follow your channel and support you in your journey!!!!
Thanks so much Caren!

Yes, it's important to check all of that out!
Do you think that it is exclusive to Portugal? Here in America, land is designated for certain purposes. It is called zoning laws.
Thank you for the video!
My pleasure!
lovely

Cindy Vine yes, that’s right. Obrigada
Don't try to avoid what you will meet there: yourself.

Great video Cindy. 👍🥰

That sounds wonderful! I saw quite a few of those for sale when I was doing my farm tours!

Very good point, but isn't it true for every country, not just Portugal?
Yep, you can apply this to most countries.
Great!
Glad you found it useful!

Baie dankie vir die video Cindy. Dis regtig baie goeie raad. U aksent klink vir my baie Afrikaans... is u van Suid Afrika?
Ja, maar ek is nie Afrikaans sprekend nie.
OK, great... Actually, I'm a block man by trade, had my own butchery in Virginia, Freestate...
Fantastic! Are you making biltong and boerewors there?
No, haven't made yet,... The beef here doesn't look good,I'm not wasting my time and spices to make a inferior product.. But I will be making soon..
@@johnnymartins7601 Can't wait to try yours! We'll have to have a tasting competition!
OK, you never know your luck in a small village in Portugal.. 🤔 😁
Hi Madam, please let me know if you have known. how can we make money in central Portugal? which is good? agriculture, livestock or business ?
Depends on how much money you want to invest. What kind of livestock and what you plan on farming.
Boeretroos=coffee..
Herzog cookies, milktart...
