    Perfectly to the point
    First time camper here
    My problem was I bought it used & the previous owner had winterized it.
    It was the valve right after the hot water tank, the valve was open between the hot & cold
    Thanks a million! No more cold showers
    Great video

    I bought a used RV in May from a private party and suffered with luke warm water all summer. With fall temperatures cooling, it was urgent that I have hot water. After spending an afternoon troubleshooting and still not figuring it out, I went on UA-cam and watched video after video on how to fix a suburban water heater. Finally at 9:30 pm I saw this title and clicked to watch it. When I saw the first thing mentioned was to make sure that the bypass valve was closed, I had to rush out and check my unit, at night, in the rain! Sure enough it was open!!! I closed it and for the first time ever, I’ve got hot water. Wow. Thanks so much for the tip.
    Reflecting on the situation, I bought it from a person who was selling the RV for the owner and knew nothing about it. The owner had winterized it and part of the process was to bypass the hot water tank. I in my inexperience, knew enough to open the valves to and from the tank but forgot about the bypass until I saw this video. Ahhhh... the learning curve.

      Wonderfull! Glad you found the problem! I have also herd of people turning the outside shower on cold & hot then just shutting the shower head off and not the hot/cold controls they say this will also make the hot cold mix resulting in no hot water... Thanks for watching Cheers!

    Just happend to me, aswell this past weekend, Just picked it up from the RV dealership for the first time, had some issues ,,this being one of them, always pays to have a smart friend along, lol, This was the exact problem, which should have been done at the dealership, and also water holding tank valve was left open, so when first started filling it ,,it was coming out faster than the hose was putting in the water, there are a few other issues aswell, but getting them dealt with this weekend, Always check everything before taking ownership from a dealer, and keep your smart buddy happy,,lolol

      You would think so, turns out I did not have heat aswell coming out of my Heater,,they replaced the mother board and it seems to have fixed it, and then suddenly no tailights or signals, they tried saying that the wiring was a commonly used wear and tear item like brakes and tires etc, and all this happend on my first trip out, they said if it was past the 30 days they would not cover the electrical problem and because it was on the chassis which was seperate from the RV, I was stunned, got the extended warranty, And they almost never covrered the wiring repair, and this was a 2 year old unit, 2016 ex rental unit, nothing but a hassle with the service department, So buying from a dealership is not all what it is cracked up to be aswell, ,,You buy from a dealership hoping you don't get problems and issues, Just my experience with my first time buying a RV off a lot,,

    Good video. For me, it was a hidden valve behind the water heater. It was on a 3-way valve, but instead of facing you, it was facing away. Can't see it, just had to feel for it. Look for any splice along the water lines.

If not you should have hot water if not then there may be another problem... Cheers, :)

    Last month, we bought a new Coachmen Clipper with a We have a Suburban, Airxcel, Inc. SW6DP Direct Spark Ignition. We took it out for a 3 day stay in an RV park and the hot water worked fine.
    I took a 2 month volunteer camp host job 4 hours away on the Coast. And now the hot water will not work! The DSI FLT red light flickers on and off.
    We turned the propane take on, full blast. We ran the water out of the tap. It did not warm up.
    We found the reset button. Pushed it. No change. The reset button had NOT popped out, so that was not the problem.

    Thanks I did all you said, hot water is in the tank I check the valve it's hot coming out. I dont have a valve like yours, only o e that turns the water off and on going into the tank.
    Checked the outside shower valve bypassed it.
    Still no hot water coming through, heats up fine gas comes on heats but still nothing coming out of the faucet?
    Never had this before it has always worked until this year, this is the first time I used the hot water this year as well....umm I'm completely at ends...great video btw just didnt work for me.Any other ideas?

    • @Littlervrentals
      @Littlervrentals  4 роки тому

      Sounds like it could be a failed check valve located on the inlet or outlet of the hot water tank. There is a spring and washer in there and if it fails it creates an obstruction in the line stoping the hot water. If you disconnect the water lines and put your pinki finger in the brass check valve you should feel a spring in there it's a back flow preventer. I think i show this check valve in a video of mine called (how to winterize your RV fast).

    • @Littlervrentals
      @Littlervrentals  4 роки тому

      You could also have a failed water valve you may think it's turning on or off at the tank but is broken inside the valve... But check the check valve first! :)

    • @Littlervrentals

      Pressure Relief Valve?

    • @SeanWyseman
      @SeanWyseman 6 років тому +1

      Thanks. I don't think that was what got cut off. Anyway it's a moot point now. I figured out what the problem is in my unit. There's a check valve (no backflow) in a brass fitting on the hot outlet of my suburban heater. That appears to be part of the design to save an extra tap during bypass. Seems that valve just quit and stopped my hot water flow.

    • @Littlervrentals
      @Littlervrentals  6 років тому

      Yes i had the same thing happen to me that back flow valve blew up and turned a rubber washer sideways and restricted the hot water flow!

  • @filmzen281
    @filmzen281 6 років тому +1

    I have a 2008 tioga Ranger and I don't see any valves... only a hot water hose and cold water hose. I have lukewarm water. It is igniting and it seems to burn as long as usual but not hot hot. Just warm.

    • @Littlervrentals
      @Littlervrentals  5 років тому

      You could have an air lock in the hot water tank. when cool try pulling the pressure relief valve on the hotter tank and see if any air comes out... Could also be a bad check valve on the tank that is restricting hot water flow. Also make sure outside shower taps turned off could be mixing if not. Cheers, :)

    Hello, how do you ignite and how do you fill, hot water tank?

    • @Littlervrentals
      @Littlervrentals  6 років тому +2

      Hi there, If you can fined the compartment inside the trailer that has the hot water tank stored there will be a top valve and bottom valve line going into the tank. Make sure they are in the open position. Turn on hot valve at sink tap as well as water pump or unless your hooked to city water... To light the hotter tank there should be a switch somewhere if not and it's a very old unit you may have to light it manually from outside compartment. Hope this helps Cheers, :)
