I taught and coached Brent when he was a high school student at LCI. Even then, he was a stand up guy with a great attitude. This video does a great job of capturing his character. Brent, you are a beast and a great man. Very proud of you.
Brent Fikowski was the first guy I ever watched compete at regionals in 2014. I remember him slaying the chipper and watched him try to Overhead squat in the final event. I pumped he finally has his shot at the Games. As a fellow skinny dude, I'll definitely be cheering him on this year.
I lived across from Brent, I delivered papers on his route when he would go away, he paid me in little war hammers that he painted in his basement. Really cool guy
As someone who competes in BJJ, I completely relate to "The one thing im scared about is what people think when I lose" - it something that can be debilitating for me. Its kind of nice to see high level athletes feel the same emotions as us "normal" ones.
i forgot how much he dominated. it looks like he can crack the final heat easily... maybe even top 5 or podium finish... He'll be a rookie though so he would still need to know how to "game" the games
I admire these athletes very much #CrossFit the boy is very intense and his training #calisteniaworkout I would like to try one day to prepare myself step by step . 🔥
Height plays much more into the success rather than weight. Consider the circumference of the snatch arc, the increased distance of a push-up, the increase drop of a squat, added up over thousands of reps in the CFGs you are talking about a person a few inches taller moving thousands of pounds of weight hundreds of meters further. CFG should either come up with height divisions or introduce algorithms into the scoring which accounts for repetition distance. For example, a 6'5'' man may move same amount of weight the same distance in far fewer snatches than a man at 5'9''. Men of these varying body types have no business being in the same class unless the balance of routines is set to give equal advantage to taller men, and currently, that is just not the case. I watched a documentary on it last night and it was quite obvious the taller men did not stand a chance in several of the events, and much fewer events played to the taller man's advantage. It's time to make it fair. Either weight scoring by height or have a division over 6' and another for men under 6'. Two divisions would be a good start. Brent moved the same weight a much further distance, on the order of hundreds of meters over thousands of reps, over the course of the 5 day competition than the 3 men above him (5'7'', 5'10'', 5'11''). Taking that into account, he's truly the fittest man in the world.
Yeah heard that little athletes cant play volleyball or basketball in higher levels, ow, lets just make one division just for short dudes, r fcking kiding?!
Ooook.. can you tell me what is this "crossfit form" you're talking about ? Find me antoher athlete with this lower back.. i don't know what it is, but if you do a correct deadlift, crossfit or not i don't think you end up with this thing.
please, every athlete with a serious deadlift who is lean enough has this kinda bulge, its just a massive lower back muscle, and its pretty much only visible when you you lean forward, look at maxx chewning for example
After so many years, now i understand that working out every day its the best way ,something like crossfit, those ppl are so awesome, they manage to brake the human body barrier, now, when im looking at bodybuilders,mr olympia they dont look so jacked like those guys, lol
it's possible to win in crossfit without steroids .. This Man it's real example you only need a little the talent and alot of passion and never never never give up
I think it's safe to assume they all use steroids. you should know that there aresomny types of steroids out there. some of them won't give u any extra size so him being skinnier then the rest of the crossfit games athlete isn't really proof he isn't using them personally I don't care. they are all using them so it's even steven to me
It's has to be awesome but also frustrating that he got 4th in the games last year, also only 2 POINTS behind vellner. Although he dominated four workouts and got 1st in them.
Moustafa El-Wakil definitely got potential to be one of the best just needs to work on his weaknesses which I'm sure he's doing. Excited for him in the future
One day I will compete in CrossFit. However, I will do all the exercises with CORRECT form. Even despite having a form that doesn`t injure me, I will win.
Thats an overdeveloped lower back muscle...very visible when you are that lean...thats not a bulging spine because otherwise he would be in so much pain and would not be able to make strong lifts like that...
love this guy

Fikowski is the first CrossFit athlete I have ever seen that actually fits the image of what I would expect a CrossFit World Champion to look like.
What an awesome guy. Fantastic attitude.

Compared to some other guys in Crossfit, you could consider him "skinny". While in real life and compared to regular athletes, he's a proper beast.
flahexer he definitely looks more like a endurance athlete but he is ridiculously strong and explosive.
men he weighs more than the average athletes, he is just tremendously tall!!!
I lived across from Brent, I delivered papers on his route when he would go away, he paid me in little war hammers that he painted in his basement. Really cool guy
Fikowski is gonna make podium at the games this year
Luke Hensley Wow pretty darn close prediction there👍
Excited for Brent this year, as a taller athlete it's exciting to see someone above 5'9" make it to the games!
Plenty of guys above 5'9" have made it to the games. But I agree with the general sentiment. It is definitely geared towards the average height guys.
new fan of this man.
Really happy that he dominated this years regionals, much respect for him to keep coming back year after year
As someone who competes in BJJ, I completely relate to "The one thing im scared about is what people think when I lose" - it something that can be debilitating for me. Its kind of nice to see high level athletes feel the same emotions as us "normal" ones.
Great story!! gotta love someone who never gives up, and is rewarded for all the hard work in the end!
Well done Brent. Very inspiring. You make Canada proud!
Maybe he will become a new star of CrossFit... Congratulations!
its crazy to see this and brent now getting second and the strength events were some of his best events
Definitely gained a fan! Awesome guy.
Love his line at the end. Mind is already on regionals for next year.

What a great video! I can't believe people actually disliked it. Damn haters haha.

is there any way to see this in tv?
Does anyone know the the music when he beats Cody Anderson
A quote from another CF athlete seems appropriate - "I found out what it took to get here."
After so many years, now i understand that working out every day its the best way ,something like crossfit, those ppl are so awesome, they manage to brake the human body barrier, now, when im looking at bodybuilders,mr olympia they dont look so jacked like those guys, lol

He's insane, he would've come first in all the regions apart from East
gente, quien es el que aparece en el minuto 3:52 al lado de fikowski?
it's possible to win in crossfit without steroids .. This Man it's real example you only need a little the talent and alot of passion and never never never give up
you do know they get tested before the games right...?
ya know every world class sporting event tests athletes and they all still get away with it
I think it's safe to assume they all use steroids. you should know that there aresomny types of steroids out there. some of them won't give u any extra size so him being skinnier then the rest of the crossfit games athlete isn't really proof he isn't using them

On what basis did 66 people give this video a thumbs down? Great story about determination, effort and attacking your weaknesses.
Polish surname 👌✌️
6:31 wtf is wrong with his spine
bad form
Thats an overdeveloped lower back muscle...very visible when you are
that lean...thats not a bulging spine because otherwise he would be in
so much pain and would not be able to make strong lifts like that...
Goodbye joints

My spine got deformed by watching these handstand push ups
Crossfit! LOL
Its just crossfit, no big deal ,nothing of interest. Thank god we still have strongman events.

Perfect aryan genetics
'Hard work' i.e. Steroids
