Thanks for making this video, I am 72 yrs old and this is the first time I am going to try to take the deck off my Bronco, your instructions look great!
Excellent video, just what I wanted to see. Had some wonderful memories while watching. My Grandfather was missing his left hand and that man could do more with one hand than most can do with two. Helped him build a picnic gazebo one summer with nothing more than a hand saw and a hammer. Learned more about work ethic and being my own man than anything else I have ever done. Thank you so much.
Hey, just wanted to reach out to say, I was born with a missing hand also. Our arm looks identical. I googled how to take the deck off my lawnmower, your video is the one that came up! It’s great seeing someone else like me! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for sharing too! I know you and I are not alone in our situation. I’m just glad we both had to deal with it from day one and not have it happen on the job. That would’ve been much worse. I’m sure you do just as well as I! Take care, and thank you for commenting/sharing and watching my video.
Brad, I just dropped $20 on your GoFundMe page on your website. I had belts, spindles etc. to replace and I was not looking forward to it. My Grandpa used to say, the worst part of work is dreading it. lol ---- You explained it so well I took it apart a week after watching this video and still managed it in a short time. Cuts like a dream now. Many thanks!
Can I just tell you how much I appreciate you sharing this, it saved me so much time and I found out that the previous person who did service on this lawnmower did a few things wrong just by watching you taking it apart thank you again man!!
You are a god send!! Just purchased this exact model and I’m almost convinced the previous owner welded the blade nuts on. After unsuccessfully attempting to remove the nuts via without removing the deck, I found your video. Success!!
Hi Chris, I'm glad you found this video and you were able to get the job done. Blade bolts are sometimes very tough. I always take the mower deck off just to make everything easier to do. Thank you for commenting. Please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and tell your friends to help my channel grow. It would be greatly appreciated. Take care.

Excellent "How to Video"! Great close-ups, video/sound quality, steps, explanations as to "why this way and not another way", pointing out pitfalls, no fluff, short to the point, the real deal. Exactly what I needed to get this job done. Thank you for creating content like this! I have a 2008 Bronco and hope these steps will apply. I subscribed to come back for more Troy Bilt Bronco related maintenance content, I assume over time I need to reference how to change different belts and other maintenance that seems basic at first until one gets 'down and dirty'.
I’m glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind comment and supporting my channel. I have been looking for a older bronco to perform the transmission belt replacements but at the moment, I do not. When I do get one in that needs the belts, I will make sure to make a video.
This video is a life saver. First time I ever had to maintain a lawn mower and this guided me through perfectly. Only issue were the hex nuts to remove the blades. Had to get an impact wrench because of how tight they were screwed on.😂
Hi John, I’m glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. I only use impact guns. Now with the electric impacts, it’s even better. Most blade bolts are tough.
Thank you for a wonderful video! Our little Troy Bilt is not going to be a mower anymore, so I needed to learn how to take the mower deck off so I can use it on my farm to pull around my yard stuff! This video was wonderful for me as I know nothing about mowers! Thank you!
Excellent video, i took my deck off 7 or 8 years ago and never used it, needed it for a job yesterday looked for a removal video so i could reattach it. this video was excellent, clear explanations with perfect visuals. I dont like to criticize people trying to help others, however i do want to compliment you, i came across 2 other videos first and i could not see anything they were doing. That is how i came across yours. Thanks again and great instructional for someone that wouldnt have a clue. What i needed was to see which holes to use on rear mounts and where the cable went, also realized i had lost the pin to secure the cable. Thanks
Edit: See tips below! i really appreciate the pace you do this video. so often people drag it out, but your pace is excellent. good camera work too. i only hope that with two hands I can do half as well as you did with one! good on ya mate! UPDATE: Tip for removing the clips... I just took my deck off and found that using pliers to remove the clips is not great. Instead, use a (fairly large) flat-blade screw driver, stick it in the clip between the two ends and twist, it will pop right off with almost no effort. Note: one end is obvious and the other is not as obvious. The obvious end is flared out -- twist the driver against that flared out part. Second tip: to remove the cable's spring, push the pulley back to where there's some recesses in the deck which give you room to get the spring end out.
Thank you so much for such a clear and complete tutorial. I was having trouble putting the PTO back in position because I was doing it wrong. This showed me how to do it. Thanks.
I was hesitant to tackle the deck removal by myself. But this video gave me the confidence I needed. Very clear directions and excellent video quality. I did it this afternoon. No problems. Thanks so much.

Excellent video. Those darned “safety”clips were-are a challenge until I watched your video. Much easier way than the way I struggled with them. I find it easier to put a short piece of 2 x 4 under each side of the deck when reinstalling the deck. The added height off the ground makes it much easier to locate and attach the rear lift bars and front bar also. I also found the you can slide the deck out from under the chassis a short distance and it’s make the deck engagement cable and retainer much easier to remove and install.

Awesome. You have to work on these yourself because it is hard to find anyone to work on these mowers and if you do, then it costs a lot , especially if you do not have a means to get the mower into the shop, then you have to pay for pick up and delivery... and it becomes a huge nightmare. I am doing this for my mom.. They bought it way back in 2009 without any idea how they would maintain it.. so, guess who gets to work on it?
Thank you Brad! I got it all on my own until I got to the cable! THEN I looked up THIS video! Keep making videos on anything you work in! Never know what I’ll need help with next! Thanks again Brad! Oh my next project is changing the oil! Got a video on that? Thanks in advance ! 😎

There is the upper hanger with the holes that mounts to the frame. There is the rod that goes through both frame hanger and last is the deck bracket which is welded to frame. I do not know part references.

bought mine in 201`6 and build date on it says 2013 .When it had problems with the idle pulley only a month after I bought it I found that out .They should disclose that when you buy .Now I know to look under the seat .They did replace both pulley's under warranty .Now I have to replace the blades with the gator blades as I love them on my cub cadet mower and they hold up much better than the cheap blades .
This was one of the best “how to” videos on UA-cam. No extranious talking just straight to the point with great tips and outstanding camera work. The fact that you have one hand and made it look so easy blew me away!! SH!

@@JohnsonsSmallEngines one thing I discovered yesterday while removing the belt. Instead of removing the bolt from the bar that protects the belt from coming off the pulley I just went to the other side and pushed the bar through the hole then placed it back. Just an on the spot improvision. (If that's a word) But because of your video everything else was a pie e of cake.

I've got a question. Was using the mower in the yard and up an incline to our shed. Mower, while still in forward, rolled back and shutoff. When I restarted the mower, the blade engagement lever was extremely fluid and loose and mower deck was on the ground. Why would that happen (troy bilt bronco - same as video) and will I be able to fix the problem by removing the deck?

DO you happen to still have this mower? I am looking EVERYWHERE to see how the springs on the main drive pulley are routed and connected. I bought a used on and I know my springs are not right. I have to push the pedal down WAY too hard to get the ting moving, and the springs on the double pulley bracket are bent and rubbing the belt in a weird spot.
got a 42inch belt btu was still loose, is the deck suposed to be pretty close to the front wheel on the left side mroe than the right or is ours tweeked, been looking and looking and can't figure anything besides maybe get a 41inch belt

What kind of pins are those on the rods holding the back of the deck up? Mine disappeared, and they look like some sort of weird butterfly pin here? Was expecting just a cotter pin.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thank you so much for the link and info, and as everyone else has said, thank you for this great video. It's worth a million dollars.
Great tutorial video! Gotta take my deck off and have the anti scalp wheels welded back on. Ridiculous how cheaply welded they were put on in the factory and the deck itself is pretty thin metal honestly
I had a problem with the two belt guards cracking at bolt area and flying off. These help hold belt on the outer pulleys. I put new guards on, started and engaged the mower and noticed the engagement pulley bouncing and vibration. Ran a few minutes and belt came off. Could a stretched belt be the problem? Or possibly the pivot bolt on the engagement mechanism needs more support (like a 2” heavy washer) under the too thin stamped steel deck. Blades are new and spindle bearings tight. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Awesome video. My old Troy-Bilt is mowing all sorts of lopsided and figure it's time to drop the deck, check all the pulleys, sharpen or replace the blade etc etc. As far as I know, it's never been done, and this thing is nearing 20 years old lol
I’m glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment! Please give this video a like and share my channel with your friends to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for watching :)
This is a great video for the Troy-Bilt Horse, also.
I'm just going to say, you get things done better than I do with two hands. Kudos for a job well done. Real time video with no time speed lapse. I didn't catch your first name, but you're golden 'guy'.
Thank you so much for this video. I have never removed a deck or put on blades, ever. But with your help, I DID IT!
Thank you, so much.

Great video. Concise, to the point and described in great detail. To bad Troy Bilt couldn't provide this to their customers. Thank you for a job well done.

Great job on video. I hate looking for these type of videos, because the video is always a life story before they get to the point. This was to the point and nicely detailed. Thanks 👍

Thank you for this video. After watching the manufacturer's video, I was about to give up. Thank goodness for your video. You broke it down to understandable steps and inspired me to do this job myself.
Do you have to take the deck off to change the belt?
I think it can be done but I personally take off the deck to make it much easier.
THEE best how to video I've ever viewed....period. You are an excellent mechanics and a video producer!! You take the part out and then go back and reattach it and do another shot of the disassembly process....who does that!!?? I wish more people would take the time and doe this as well instead of telling us how their dog had puppies or they kid got an A in DEI !!!!! Nobody really cares or wants to see that BS!!!
I’m glad it was helpful and thank you for the very kind comment. Please give this video a like and share my channel with your friends to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for watching:)

Brother it's difficult for me to remove the back rods to the deck and I am lucky to have 2 hands and I am afraid of cutting off my hands great video
Thanks for the kind words. Just like my saying “if I can do it, you can too” :)
You made my day! You explained what to do so clearly which made this so easy for me to do! Thank you so much!
I’m glad it was helpful! Please give this video a thumbs up and tell your friends to help my channel grow. It would be greatly appreciated.
I like the way you explained in detail how every thing comes off, great video.

I hit the subscribe button right after watching your video. I have a 2017 Bronco that I'm going to have to drop the deck to change out the drive belt. That's where your video about how to remove the deck helped me a lot. I will be checking out some of your other videos in the near future.
What is the name or part number for the bracket you are hold at 3:51 idk if mine came off or if jus the pin lost cause the deck sits on a slope
There is the upper hanger with the holes that mounts to the frame. There is the rod that goes through both frame hanger and last is the deck bracket which is welded to frame. I do not know part references.
This technician is super u used the other video to install the drive belt and i did perfect now i will to install the deck (tomorrow)..Thank you
This is the most informative video I've seen on this subject. Well done, sir!

Hey buddy I really appreciate the video, it was very helpful. I took this deck off years ago & never got around to putting it back on (you should see my yard Jk) Now that it's fixed, I had forgotten how to reinstall deck. Your tips & tricks made it easy peasy. I subscribed to your channel, I'm sure you have other helpful videos. Thanks again
Thank you for making this video. You explain it very well... I've watched it a few times just to make sure I've got it right... because there was a few things I needed to pay attention to lol... once again thanks

Had to put my deck back on and this helped when I needed to know where the bracket I had went. It was the belt guard. Thanks
I’m glad it was helpful :)
This should help me when I tackle mine in a few weeks. Thanks for the nice video. From Alabama
I hope it will be helpful for you! Good luck 👍
Thanks
bought mine in 201`6 and build date on it says 2013 .When it had problems with the idle pulley only a month after I bought it I found that out .They should disclose that when you buy .Now I know to look under the seat .They did replace both pulley's under warranty .Now I have to replace the blades with the gator blades as I love them on my cub cadet mower and they hold up much better than the cheap blades .
This was one of the best “how to” videos on UA-cam. No extranious talking just straight to the point with great tips and outstanding camera work. The fact that you have one hand and made it look so easy blew me away!! SH!
Thank you for this video, it was so easy to follow your steps. I recently had to change my PTO cable and it was a snap. Excellent demonstration along with your tips made my day. I look forward to other videos.
Man that's what I like. Short, sweet, precise and to the point. Thxs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m glad it was helpful. Thank you for the kind comment. Please give this video a thumbs up, subscribe and tell your friends to help my channel grow. It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so Much! I was able to fix the deck with your help! My husband was taking so long to fix it so I did myself 🎀
Good for you!! I’m glad it was helpful.
The best video by far thank you my brother the other ones had me all confused. You made it easy to understand

Hey thanks for taking time to do this. Very efficient video, extremely well done. Much appreciated!
Fantastic video. My blade CABLE ENGAGE broke and shot the ROD DECK BREAK over the drive belt next to the pulley. WOW those things have some serious tension on them. Your video helped so much, Thank You.
Amazing Video! The best one on this topic. 5 Stars! Just follow his instructions. Even a newbie like me did it.
Glad it to hear and thank you for the kind words!
Very well put together video. The best one I have seen for a Troy Bilt Bronco Riding mower.
This will help me get to the belts ALOT easier. Thanks! Good step by step video.
I’m glad it was helpful:) thank you for the kind words.

Thank you for this great and informative video, which helped me take care of the lawn mower.
I’m glad it was helpful, thank you for watching:)
Bro your the best u motivated me to do my self cuase I seen u had no hand bro props
My saying is "If I can do it so can you" I'm glad you did it your self, plus it will save you many $$$ :)

Mannnnnnnnnnnnn I can’t thank you enough. This is easyyyyyyy saved me money from going to the shop
Glad I could help, thank you for the kind comment!
I do not. It was a customers.
Brilliantly done and explained. Thanks!! It also shows that Troy-Bilt needs some engineers to find a simpler way to take off the deck.
got a 42inch belt btu was still loose, is the deck suposed to be pretty close to the front wheel on the left side mroe than the right or is ours tweeked, been looking and looking and can't figure anything besides maybe get a 41inch belt
i have an older model but the mechanics were the same as that one, great job and thanks.
I’m glad it was helpful! Thank you for watching:)
Thanks! Great job going through this and being detailed but straight to the point!

Thanks a lot!!!! You saved me a lot of time showing what to do.

What kind of pins are those on the rods holding the back of the deck up? Mine disappeared, and they look like some sort of weird butterfly pin here? Was expecting just a cotter pin.
Yes, bow tie or butterfly clips. amzn.to/3KAT6Oj
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Thank you so much for the link and info, and as everyone else has said, thank you for this great video. It's worth a million dollars.
Thanks, great video. I can't believe you can do all that with your challenges there. Very inspiring.
Thank you! I hope it help you.. Like I say in my newer videos, "If I can do it, you can too!" I was born that way so I do not know any different.
Excellent video. Well done. Clear, concise, and informative. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for the kind comment and for watching. I’m glad it was helpful!
Thank you Mr.Johnson. Got it off now I have to clean it
Thanks for watching and I hope it was helpful!
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines Got to sharpen the blades now.
Great tutorial video! Gotta take my deck off and have the anti scalp wheels welded back on. Ridiculous how cheaply welded they were put on in the factory and the deck itself is pretty thin metal honestly
I’m glad you liked it and thank you for watching!! Please subscribe and tell your friends to help my channel grow. It would be greatly appreciated:)
This is a hundred times better than the official video. Thanks!
Nice! Thank you for watching and commenting. Please give this video a like and share my channel to help it grow. It would be greatly appreciated!
Impossible to diagnose without seeing the machine. Taking a guess, your deck belt may have a bad spot in it making the shake. Replace deck belt.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines
It was the belt. It was about 1 1/2 inches longer than the new one. Thanks again
