Definitely try more Deftones, very interesting band with their following releases. Fear Factory are a fun band, very sci fi metal. Good mix tape, enjoyed listening.
Liked some of it but not most of it. Fear Factory surprised me. Always assumed they were route one, aggressive industrial but had surprising depth and melody. Worth further investigation Jim 😊
I think "Other Jim" and I have quite a bit of overlap in music! Tengger Cavalry - Don't know them, but I liked it. Deftones - Very familiar with this song and like it quite a bit. White Buffalo - Also familiar with this group and song. Great track but my favorite song of theirs is The Woods. Static-X - I love some of their songs, dislike others. This is a great one. Tera-Fied is my fave. Chat Pile - Don't know this one. It sounds like it was recorded during a dive bar gig and released as a demo. I don't dislike it. 😁 Soften the Glare - Don't know them and didn't much care for this one. The Exploited - I liked this one. I hear some Motorhead in addition to Metallica. John Butler Trio - Don't know them, but I can get on board with this. Fear Factory - I love these guys. Been following them since their early death metal days. Robert Randolph - Don't know this one. It was okay, but not really my thing. Soundgarden - It's Soundgarden. 'nuff said. 😁
Hey buddy, yeah, you guys have very similar tastes, and glad that you’ve got a partner in crime for the mixes and requests!!! You’ve even both got your own playlists now, so you can compare notes! ua-cam.com/play/PLtETz3VjOZvdjL5wGtogpDQ_WAj5_XPxg.html&si=JYLC3vM6GSMQrtjD ua-cam.com/play/PLtETz3VjOZveECT7M0y9MjlvW9X-Ixt3K.html&si=h-nD_RvQofVFgpwc
Thanks for that Jim, it went pretty much as I expected :) First the bad. Chat Pile lol yeah it's not an easy listen. I heard them described as "the soundtrack to a serial killers first kill", it's dirty in all senses. The middling, I was expecting the majority of tracks to fall here, not so bad as to be unlikeable, bu no so good as to be something you'd explore further. The good. Soundgarden are, well, Soundgarden. This is taken from Ultramega OK which was released way back in 1998, hence why I called it "proto-grunge". Soften the Glare are a weird listen, fusion-jazz? I dunno what to call, but it's good and yes that's Ryan Martine from Mudvayne. A band I always thought were unfairly labelled as "just another nu-metal band". Might have to get you to listen to LD.50 :) Fear Factory are one of my favourites and Resurrection for me is the pinnacle of their sound. Burtons' clean vocals, over a relentlessly heavy rythm. The strings on this track are unique to this track, but they really add a lot to it. Makes it very "epic" sounding. The rest of their catalogue is certainly heavier, but the album Resurrection is from, Obsolete, is a brilliant concept album and like LD.50 is one I might just have to get you to do a listen to.
Oh yeah and The Exploited, this is from their thrash-punk era and like you I got hints of early Maiden. Musically it might not be the most complicated thing in the world, but what it does, it does very well. Heavy, aggressive, fast and angry.
And of course Static X :D known for creating a genre of their own, Evil Disco, Cannibal is my favourite track of theirs. The brutal intro is brilliant to see how people react and your reaction didn't disappoint. When it gets going it's groovy, chugging and just, well, fun.
Thanks so much Jim. I’m glad you enjoyed this. As I said, this wasn’t 100% for me, but there were some great stand out moments, and music that I’m defo need to explore further. Gotta love the mixtape! It rarely disappoints!!! Oh, and you’ve got your own playlist now! ua-cam.com/play/PLtETz3VjOZveECT7M0y9MjlvW9X-Ixt3K.html&si=h-nD_RvQofVFgpwc
Good evening Jim and Jim. Eleven tracks in 45 minutes 🫣. 1st song. No, not for me. Deftones I’ve heard of but I only know their name. This is one of those voices I can’t listen to 🥴 White buffalo. I recognize the voice from before. Not a voice that I could listen to for a whole album but this is a nice song. Static X. I immediately jump to the next song, terrible singer. Chat pile. Omg. No thanks. Terrible. Soften the glare. Quite good I must say. The exploited. Why so fast? Singer is terrible. John Butler. Hooray, what a relief, some calmer music with a decent singer. Not bad at all but that’s all. Fear factory. Heard of them too. Don’t like the growling here and there. Might need to hear a bit more from them. Robert Randolf. Not bad but nothing special. Soundgarden. Definitely heard about them. I really liked Black hole sun. This is a totally different voice and I hate it.
11 tracks so short review. 1 - Fun! Did I hear a digeridoo? 2 - Yeah, like the guitar but didn't like the vocals. 3 - Not for me, ta. 4 - I liked the aggressive start! Wish it had continued in that vein. 5 - Is it live or is it a 40 year old Memorex that's been trampled on by a herd of wildebeest then dropped down a mains sewer? 6 - I've heard this before. Not bad but like much fusion, bereft of a really good riff. 7 - The Exploited! How wonderful. Best track though is Blown to Bits (on Punk's Not Dead) which is interrupted by an argument in broad (even for me) Scots accents over how the bass riff should be played. Should be on anyone's punk playlist 8 - Always feel guilty about claiming that a track sounds too American but this one sounds too American. 9 - It's OK but I don't like it as much as you do 10 - More Americana (by my definition) Unexceptional. 11 - Whereas Soundgarden are often excepional. This isn't their best but shows some class.
@@jimofthenorth8090 Yeah, you're right. Still sounds like a didgeridoo (I got the spelling wrong) initially but more obviously the throat singing later on. Didn't realise that they were Mongolian/Chinese/American and definitely not Australian!
Chat pile no es para todo público 😅 pero tiene sus buenas canciones. Para gente que le gusta el industrial/sludge y noise rock.

Not a fan of most I must admit but I will say I saw fear factory live and they really impressed the crap out of me!
Agreed, FF rule!

No digeridoo on track 1 :) I'm guessing that was the throat singing.

Hello there, I have analyzed your UA-cam channel and found out some
